For the most part. Without feedback, it feels like I am just doing it for myself. Which can be fun at times but at times, it's hard to want to put in the effort.

it's how I feel when I make gifs too. most of them don't get lots of notes so why bother

Awww that too, you are right. It used to make me sad too getting less rb's than some popular blogs who just post garbage or reposts, tbh...But essentially you do these for yourself too. I don't check tumblr anymore but if I'd be active I'd be rb'ing liking all the time

I was writing an ff for Hilal and Leon, and I was not the most popular one but essentially I wrote it for myself and for a few of my friends. Then they encouraged me to publish it and it got attention and love, but still it didn't become one of the most popular ones, the most popular ones were advertised by having smut, you know? and I've read and hated it, the language, the OCCness of the characters etc but everyone was like it was amazing and pure art

So anyway, the only thing I liked about it that the author was very productive. she was posting a chapter almost every week. I couldn't even finish my story even tho it was all planned out, somethings went wrong and I couldn't write. People asked for my story, I had real fans of the story too so it all made me happy, even tho it wasn't the most popular or loved one. And really at the end I started to write it for myself, for the scenes I wanted to see and for my friends. So it didn't matter how popular it would be. It only makes me sad not being able to finish it properly. the show ended and I couldn't write

I still might one day for myself and for my friends and the fans of the story too.

yeah, it's really hard even if it's not about popularity, but you have to be in the mood to actually create something
