I remember the episode. I thought in some flashbacks he was wearing a trench coat to meet Lily at the airport. Not always but maybe at first? I remember that lol.

Oh, it totally happened. Just off screen. I also loved when she talked about Ferguson and the tux, as well as the bathtub story, that she heard previously. I loved them and other moments like that, because it showed us, that even tough we haven't seen much of their relationship. They have been together for a while and clearly know each other and have a history!
