I think her absence primarily has to do with Nasim’s availability and not the New Girl writers. Rest assured, the New Girl crew wants Aly and Winston as much as you do.

“Nasim wrote a pilot with one of our writers [Rob Rosell] that they’re shooting a little bit later, a little bit off-schedule. So initially, we thought she wasn’t going to be available—she’s not in the finale, but she’s in the first episode of the night.

But that was tricky, too, because we had been building to Winston and Aly. But it ended up working out, because the climax of their story was in the end of the bachelorette party episode … we love Nasim and we’re trying to prepare for her not being available to us next year. I’d love for her to stay if she can.”

Basically, at the end of Season 5, they knew that Nasim might not be available for the next season. And what did New Girl do? Instead of breaking up Winston and Aly, they had them say ‘I love you’, haha.

Aly will come back at some point, even if it’ll just be via video call or something. Until then, I’ll gladly take Winston-Cece mess-arounds.

Aly was so cute running away. Not sure, at the moment she even realized, what Winston said. And he thought, she took off because of the bride-word - how inconfident was he? Poor babies, aw

She wasn't listening to a word he said, she was just looking for a graceful way to exit and not let on that she was sick.
