so who wants to read what is bound to be a long post on my musings about the latest ep?
So, tbh, I didn't like Zoe all that much for most of this episode. I liked her interactions with Rose & all that, & I know that she doesn't like Lemon, but to comment that her fiance had been flirting with her was a low blow imo. What I like about Zoe is that she's not a mary-sue, but she has been shown as a moral character, she wouldn't have a one night stand with Wade & I found her to be a breath of fresh air bc so many girls on these CW shows are hooking up with everyone & are quite bitchy, so I liked that Zoe wasn't like that. Until that line.......still I'll let it slide for now. What I find interesting about the initial Zoe/George scene is that Wade actually seemed to be the focus, it wasn't a scene progressing ZG & Wade's reactions were just there, it seemed more like the whole scene was built to progress Wade's storyline imo. & then I think Wade was purposely trying to keep George away from Zoe with the whole tree thing What I don't get is how George can be so blind to Wade's feelings for Zoe, especially considering that they're meant to be good friends & there were so many moments where I thought Wade was going to tell him, like I think George said "why do you care about Zoe Hart so much?" or something like that, & I was really hoping Wade was going to admit the truth, but he's still being defensive which is fair. This might be an unpopular opinion, but I respect George for admitting that he had flirted with Zoe. It actually ties into a debate I had with a group of people the other day but what we were saying is that it's human to be attracted to someone even when you're in love with someone else, but it's cowardly to not be able to admit it & if you don't feel like you can talk about it shows how insecure you are about the relationship you're already in. George didn't do that, he made it clear that he loves Lemon - we all know this isn't going to last - but he is not going to run off with Zoe, a girl that he has a soft spot for over a woman that he loves. Now when the Lemon/Lavon thing comes out & George/Lemon inevitably break up it will be another story.... I think Zoe's accepting that George isn't an option, & more importantly, she's ok with that. She knows that he was just a man she met that she had a crush on - it wasn't a great love that she can never have again, I think it made her realise that there are other people out there that she can fall for which leads me to.......the ending! I was really beginning to get scared we weren't going to get a Zoe/Wade scene at all, & then we got the last scene! I think the fact that the episode ended Zoe/Wade is quite prominent in itself. I was disappointed when she said raincheque, but when you see her face as she says it you can tell that she is genuinely wanting to have a drink with him another time & that she's really starting to see him as a possibility. & then when they part, I love that she's the one who looks back at him I think it means good things are coming for us! Predictions for the future; ZW will get together Lemon/Lavon will be revealed, George will run to Zoe, just as things are good between her & Wade & then I don't know - that might just be the season finale. But even when George & Lemon do break up, I don't think it will be right for him to go after Zoe, bc Wade is his best friend (supposedly) & it's impossible to not see that Wade has feelings for her. __________________

I loved reading that. You made alot of very good observations.
I do feel like her looking back at Wade as he was walking away was a good sign. I think maybe she's starting to see that there are other guys out there and Wade is defintely one of them. Unfortunatley I have come to accept that Z/G will happen eventually, but I hope that its only done to put up a roadblock for Z/W getting together. Maybe I'm being too optimistic considering normally I'm extremely pessimistic when it comes to my couples. I just feel like this couple does have a fighting chance to be together. I don't how they could resist putting their characters together they're so perfectly imperfect. |

thanks & thank you reading the whole thing!
I think the problem is with TV shows now, is that they generally outline endgame couples in the Pilot, & I just don't think shows should do that, it's takes so much excitement & mystery out of watching the show - & I think that's why we're all a bit nervous about Z/G. But I truly believe that ZW might have a real chance, I mean I can't say about endgame bc who knows how long this show will run & what will happen between then & now, but at least for now, it feels like the whole last episode was making a point of Zoe & George aren't going to happen for a while, & she's going to pursure other options. Maybe Z/G will happen eventually, but I'm not going to put money on it strictly bc this is a Josh Schwartz show & he is fickle & he explores the ships which are most popular - I just hope that he doesn't ruin what's great about ZW by doing that, but I feel that the show's focus for a while will be ZW __________________

I watched episode 7 last night and one thing really popped out: Zoe is changing.
I completely disagree with the person in the other thread that said Zoe/george is the otp of the show. I think it's more than obvious that the show is developing Zoe and Wade. We have been seeing Wade grow out of his bad boy attitude and have feelings for Zoe, to admit he actually has feelings for Zoe, and we'll watch him eventually tell her that. We have been seeing Zoe start to make roots, she's becoming part of Bluebell, she's growing as a person, and now reaching a point where she can start thinking about possible feelings towards Wade. I think the second part of the season will be just that. Getting over George, finding out she has feelings for Wade, Wade growing some balls and finally telling Zoe. Pretty sure something is going to happen in the finale, and it isn't going to be Zoe/George. Because I read the sides I know some stuff that is going to happen (some really good for us, some not so much, but everything is bringing Wade's feelings more and more to the surface) so I have an idea of where the story is going. My predictions to the end of the show are: Lemon finally realize that what she feels for Lavon is stronger than what she has with George, they break up and she gets together with Lavon. George, too heartbroken, goes back to NYC live a life he loved & Zoe will settle down in Bluebell with Wade. __________________

New thread!
I never actually thought about what Zoe said about the flirting but I don't think I mind. Lemon was the one who brought it up to begin with and Lemon has been pretty terrible to Zoe ever since she go there. I think Zoe had enough, so that's why she said what she did. Maybe she shouldn't have, but in the end she stepped away from George. I agree, I like how George owned up to his flirting. It was strange that George could see no reason for Wade to push him so hard on Zoe, since they are such good friends. I actually thought they might have shown George watching Wade and Zoe at the end and him realizing that Wade likes Zoe, but they didn't. |

I know deciding who is going to be together already before you even give the characters a chance with other characters is kinda dumb. Sure a couple might look good on paper, but its the actors who bring them to life. For me RB and WB completely steal whatever scene they're in when their characters interact. Wilson makes Wade more than just some one dimensional guy just looking to get laid. He's makes him this fun smart amazingly caring guy who is I think is just afraid that if he really puts his heart out there he'll get it broken yet he put it there last night when he asked Zoey out for a drink. I think if given a chance this couple could be something even huger than what they are right now.

I know that Lemon is terrible to her, but I just don't think it's right to say to someone 'your fiance has been flirting with me', I know Lemon started it, but I was just hoping Zoe would be more dignified then that.
& I agree, some of these people must be blind to not see that Wade likes Zoe! Who has actually figured it out? Just Lavon & Shelley, & kinda Wade's wife, but I can't remember her name & I agree ~lipstick, I don't think Zoe/George are going to be the main couple of the show, aside from the fact that they shared scenes in the pilot, there hasn't really been many scenes, Zoe & Wade are the ones who have been getting the build-up & the focus. I'm hoping this whole thing has been a clever ploy to disguise the fact that Zoe/Wade are endgame sunflower 654, I definitely agree, & you said what I was trying to say a lot better __________________

sunflower 654, ^ecxactly. And while Zoe & George may be cute, they lack a lot of the chemistry that makes them the "It" couple.
