The way he kept saying 'please' to her. Lord, even I wanted to marry him after that speech. Actually even before the speech, but that speech was a swoon worthy moment for sure.

OMG YES that speech in season 4 was just amazing. There were a lot of things that Wade did wrong or didn't know how to do, but he sure knew how to express his feelings to Zoe after he initially admitted it to himself.

Yeah, they both had growing up to do. Both of them did things wrong in their relationship, because neither knew how to be in a relationship, which they both admitted. Zoe's indeciveness about her feelings. After she asked him to be monogamous, after she asked for romance, after she asked him to be her boyfriend, she kept saying she had feelings for George. (we know now she was just to scared to admit how she really felt about Wade) So she was clinging to her George fantasy, but you could see that made Wade so insecure when it came to George, then add Zoe basically telling Wade George will make his band better and Wade's closed offness, you could tell it was about head south and he shut himself off and basically self destructed and purposely sabotaged things because he got scared. So I'm not surprised it crashed and burn as quickly as it started. I just wish it never would have happened, but seeing it now, they kinda had to lose eachother to grow up and realize they loved eachother. I will forever be grateful for George, when Zoe went to him and poured her feelings out after she and wade broke up and George turned her down because he knew she was messed up and she needed to hear that. Then after slept with Wade during their one night stand, after their split and George walked in on them again. I am so glad When Zoe went to see George again and him set her straight once and for all. She tried telling him what he saw, meant nothing, but I am so glad he spelled it out for her and George told her straight up, that it was not him she wanted, because she had a chance to be with him, but chose someone else. That they never went on a single date, because what they had was a fantasy and said because in reality, the person she truly had feelings for was Wade. Then when she tried to deny it, he said he saw it when they were together and that he saw it again, when he walked in on them again. So good for George for calling her out, on what everyone could see, but her. That Wade was the one she was in love with, despite their break up. It was also made clear by AB, when she said Zoe could have done a million things to make herself better, but she chose to sleep with Wade again, after they split. And the lady on the airplane that Zoe was spilling her guts too, even said she agreed with the Lawyer, it was the bartender neighbor she had feelings for.

So glad Zoe finally changed her picture (like Wade told her) and she accepted that she loved Wade and let her fantasy built up in her head, go.

I was glad when George told her that what they were holding on to was just a fantasy too, I don't know when she ever would have been able to admit it to herself if he hadn't told her that. & she definitely needed to realize that she had done things wrong in their relationship too, because Wade had every reason to worry about her & George, & she definitely didn't treat Wade as well as he deserved. I still hate the cheating storyline though, & wish the writers had found another way to break them up

I do too. It hurt the foundation that was being built for them. They had one of the best build ups of any couples ever, since Pacecy and Joey IMHO. Season 1 was all about the flirting/bantering/sexual tension and Wade crushing on Zoe from afar, her secretly crushing back clearly (Even Judson called her on her attraction to Wade during their date). Then in the last episode after a year long build up, to watch it all come out (with both in wet t-shirts) trapped together. Lord I thought that barn was gonna burn down, because of how heated they were getting, with pent-up feelings, frustration and anger. Then finally everything coming to a head, with them giving in to what they both wanted and sparks finally flying, literally. I don't think I had ever been happier about a couple finally connecting, other then Pacey and Joey. I am pretty sure I smiled like an idiot for hours after that episode. Definitely one of the best episodes from the series.

Then Season 2 started laying more of a foudation with Zoe subconciously picking Wade over George and them going from friends with benefits, to monogamous, to romance, to dating, to boyfriend and girlfriend. It was a beautiful journey to watch (even though it was frustrating at times) but you could clearly see them falling in love and the writers could see that too and I think that's when they knew they wanted them as end-game, panicked and tried to figure out a way to separate them, so we can see them have to fall in love all over again. IMHO, they picked a horrible way, but I can say for certainty, that even though I was heartbrken and cried my eyeballs out and felt so betrayed and let down by the writers, I never gave up on Wade at all. I wanted to smack him, but I also wanted to hug him, because you could see it killed him what he did. I also never abandoned ship, in fact, I think I started rooting for them harder. Thankfully the writer realized what a horrible decision that was and rectified it.

Yeah, I feel like there could have been other ways to break them up. But in season 4 I feel like all Zoe's denial of still loving Wade made sense after it all.

Yep and Joel was her distraction from her real feelings for Wade. Something she had been trying to suppress because she was scared to admit to herself that she loved him. I remember someone said, oh Zoe wants Wade now that Joel is gone and she sees he's moving on with someone else. I never saw it that way. Joel was her escape from her true feelings, like Lemon pointed out. I don't think Zoe had this moment where she decided to go for Wade and decided to subconsciously wreck his relationship with Vivian (which she did) just because she was single, suddenly. It was because with Joel out of the picture, she couldn't hide her real feelings for him any longer. She just had nothing distracting her any longer.

So the shoe ended up on the other foot and it was no longer Wade pretending to not be in love with her, it was now her pretending to not be in love with Wade. Which I actually enjoyed seeing for a change. We had seen Wade fight from the moment he met her for something with her. We saw him fight his feelings before, during and after their relationship for her. So for me, it felt rewarding seeing her go through the same emotions he had gone through for a change. Seeing her try to seduce him and win him over, like he always did for her. It was great to see, even if it was only for a few episodes, compared to his nearly 4 years, but still I enjoyed it.

I get what they were trying to do with Joel, but they mishandled imo & that relationship went on way too long

Tell me about it. It went on way too long and they messed up by having Wade go into a kind of serious relationship with Vivian and her child. I get it was suppose to show Wade's growth, but the writers drug out the reunion too long and let those relationships last longer then needed. Nothing and I mean nothing was enjoyable about Vivian and Wade. In fact I don't wat their scenes. I watch Zoe's jealous scenes of them, but when W/V are alone, I skip that. No thank you. And the only thing I enjoyed about Joel was Wade buddying up to him and watching it drive Zoe insane. I nearly spit my drink out when Wade told Zoe he couldn't help that her boyfriend found him irresistible. LOL typical Wade. Also, when Wade would cracks jokes to Zoe and Joel tried to stop from laughing and couldn't help himself and Zoe would get so aggravated at Wade. IMHO, they should have wrapped both relationships up quicker and focused back on Wade and Zoe connecting more without partners in the way, before leading up to their actual reunion. It would have saved most of Season 3 IMHO. I feel cheated that we didn't get anything from them on the mend, til episode 20 of that season. I mean, we got some intense looks and jealousy from them both during 3x01, jealous Zoe over Vivian, the hay maze kiss, which literally made Zoe weak in her knees and that was it, til the end. I wanted more. it also boils my blood that the writers had Zoe telling Joel she loved him, after what Wade told her, then made us wait nearly a year/whole season after Wade told her, he loved her, to even hear Zoe say she loved Wade too. It was just all frustrating. Felt like a slap in the face.

Definitely, when s3 started, I thought Joel would be gone after 8 episodes - still can't believe that the writers thought it was a good idea to keep him around twice as long as that! & I couldn't stand to see Wade & Vivian together. I guess neither of the relationships would have bothered me so much if Zoe & Wade had at least kept having scenes together, but we had to go so long without a meaningful scene between them

It also annoys me that out of a 4 season run, we only got a handful of episodes of Wade/Zoe actually being a couple in some way.

1x01 - One kiss and a 21 episode build up of them flirting in Season 1.
1x22 - Sex
2x01 - 2x16 - Together either as FWB or BF and GF.
2x21 - One night stand.
3x08 - One Kiss
4x01 - Sex
4x03 - 4x10 Couple then Married with a baby.

I'm definitely not complaining about what we got, but when you break that down, we really only got them being intimate on some level for only 28 episodes out of a 4 season run. They had Joel and Zoe a couple almost as long. I mean, it is what it is, but IMHO, the writers could have done better with their relationship during Season 3.

They definitely could have, I don't think I'll ever understand how they thought the audience - that was mostly made of ZW shippers - were going to enjoy not only them being in relationships with other people, but having several episodes where they don't even interact
