Comments from Scott Porter and Wilson Bethel about cancellation and their tweets

"We had an abbreviated season and this is not unusual for shows to do—if you look at Scandal just a couple of years ago—fewer episodes depending upon the schedule of when the baby is born. She really didn't want to have to come back to work right away—she wants to be very hands-on and be able to be there those first couple of months after the baby's born, so we just kind of shot what we could as quickly as we could and 10 episodes is what worked out for us."

It's really satisfying and I think that's part of the reason the cast were feeling like this could be the end," Bethel explained. Yes it ends next month. I think if the CW was 100% certain that this was the final season of HoD, they would have aired it then like they did with Nikita last season. It would air in a time when ratings are generally lower due to the holidays, but they don't matter as much. Since the CW seems to be refusing to acknowledge this as the final season, I don't think they will air it then. And since they, and the actors, have had to do damage control about speculation about this being the final season, apparently they care somewhat about the ratings. More than likely, we are still going to have to wait until sometime in 2015 for HoD to premiere. If Jane had come out and been a hit, then they probably would have been more willing to air HoD earlier and call it the final season. Jane isn't, and the CW has their reasons for refusing to say this is the final season.

So unfortunately we are still stuck in limbo. At least the mid-season schedule should come out in about 5 weeks or so. That is something to look forward to. Then we'll at least find out if they did give HoD an air date or if it is more waiting on that.
