Cress's character is Cole and he's a doctor. The guy in the hosptial bed is his Dad who is also a doctor. His Dad has Parkinson's and just had some type of brain surgery to help with it. It turned out that whole episode was just Rollie's dream or something. So he's still a little out of it thanks to that. Rollie ends up telling Cole that he had a twin sister who died when they were babies. Both Rollie and his wife didn't handle it well and Cole's Mom eventually killed herself. If I'm remembering correctly from a S1 episode Cole found her and was like 8 at the time. Rollie apologized for never having told him about his sister, etc. before. They say they love each other which is a big deal since they haven't had a good relationship.
