I don't think he was giving Wade permission there, I think he was just letting Wade know he was ok with it so that Wade knew where he stood & they both knew there were no problems between them

It wouldn't have, but I've seen other shows where they want their male characters to look like expert fighters - even if it makes no sense to the show - & give them these big over the top fight scenes
