| Affiliates Manager   | World Gone Lost | A MYOC/Pan-Fandom PRG  “Humanity is on the march, earth itself is left behind.” ~David Ehrenfeld, The Arrogance of Humanism, 1978. For years we have known the limits of earth could not sustain us, the pollution, the misuse of natural materials, the exchange of money for the earths resources… it was all leading towards this. This is the year 2158 and for twelve years the sun has been loosing its power, sending earth into a virtual ice age. It is no longer sustainable for life. ”Only when the last tree has died and the last river been poisoned and the last fish been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.” ~Cree Indian Proverb The earth has become a wasteland but the intellect of its survivors endured, the most brilliant of which constructed and built Unitas, the Latin for unity, for the inhabitants of this country in the sky (for it literally covers an expanse of several football fields) where people from all around the world have taken sanctuary. The inhabitants of Unitas all have a job (with the exception of children who are in school) because seeing as space was so limited aboard only people who had something useful to add to journey were accepted aboard. Their mission is to use the science equipped on Unitas to send a payload into the sun to reignite it, thereby allowing the inhabitants of the ship to be able to re-colonize Earth. Note: This game is a MYOC game as well as a is a pan-fandom game. Pan-Fandom implies that characters from any fandom can be inhabitants on the ship. The characters would retain their basic nature but their stories are completely erased. Personalities would be unchanged but any mystical elements would be removed should someone chose to play, say Edward Cullen from Twilight...he would no longer be a vampire, just a regular human. Rules/Info: + The b/g rule is in effect but only for the first two characters you take. There is no limit on characters, take as many as you can show appropriate attention to. + Please try to vary the ages of your characters, not everyone is in their twenties. Though there were many people just as qualified as he to be the Historian aboard Unitas he memorized Time Magazine’s list of the 100 greatest novels from cover to cover to impress the selection panel. It was agreed upon that though the logging system for earth’s written history was electronic that someone in possession of perfect memory would be good to have around on the off chance anything went wrong with the machinery. They set him up in the on board library to commit to memory as much as he could – he’s currently just finished with all the information cataloged under the letter ‘c’. He was caught using social engineering at the age of fifteen but he stole information from the wrong people and was busted by the government. As he was a minor and a gifted one at that Chuck agreed to work with the government in helping them catch other similar hackers. When the job for a mechanic opened up on Unitas (as all the systems aboard save piloting are completely computerized) he jumped at the chance. He was selected because the government members of the ship felt he could be bullied and/or manipulated should any untoward events occur on ship in fear that his fast crimes be revealed. Well, that and the fact he’s great with computers. Kirk has been a bit of a pain in the ass since birth. Something very evident in the criminal record he started to build up for himself since somewhere around his tenth birthday, when he stole and drove his step-father's prized antique Corvette right off a cliff. His mother the rare exception, he's never had it in him to respect authority figures, nor the rules they set down, and thus grew up to become a motorcycle-riding, bar-hopping, womanizing rebel even James Dean would be proud of. And despite remarkable aptitude test results and real potential, James, 'Jim', was content to drink and fight himself into an early grave – until Commander Christopher Pike, an astronaut with the NASA astronaut corps, came along and challenged him to make something of himself, encouraging him to join up with the corps and follow in the footsteps of his deceased father (a short-lived pilot himself). Since then, he's successfully completed the required training, participated in a few basic test flights, and earned quite the reputation among his fellow pilots for being a bit of an obnoxious know-it-all. Though perfectly healthy (and, as the doctors have assured him, virile), he's about as useful to the Unitas and its mission as that ancient, obese cat you're too compassionate to put down—eating valuable food, breathing valuable air, taking up space and doing little else. There's absolutely nothing astounding or redeeming about him, really. Average intellect, low athleticism, no talent for music or art, no sparkly vampire boyfriend to make him a special snowflake. He's mostly about comic books. Comic books and cheetos. Claire also has a big heart and she wants nothing more then to be a part of this mission and help the people on board. She knows that all of this is going to be extremely stressful and she is going to be one of the only people who can actually help them through the tough times on board. His father was always tough on him and always expected the best out of him and whenever he didn’t get what he want out of House, his father would literally beat him to a pulp, of course House never tells this story. He is witty, cunning, and sometimes a bit of a cynic. He always believes people are lying and only believes what he can diagnose himself. Although there were a few people that didn’t want him aboard, they really didn’t have a choice. House is too much of a genius for them to pass up and House is really up for the challenge. Her partens divorced when she was quite young and Martha, along with her older sister Tish and younger brother Leo, grew up with their mother. Martha always was a clever kid and so, unlike her older sister, she decided to go to university. She wanted to become a doctor. Someone took notice of her as the brightest of her fellow students and therefore recommended her to become a part of the Unitas project. Martha had a hard time parting with her family and was on the point of refusing the offer when her mother convinced her that she had been chosen for some reason and that it was her duty to contribute in anyway she could to rescue humanity and earth. Because she was not allowed to bring her whole family with her, she decided to bring no one. Her brother had a fiancé, her sister had a boyfriend, too and her parents were getting back together just then. None of them would be alone...except for Martha, who became a Doctor soon after assigning for the project, thanks to Unitas rushing it through.
