As you struggle into a sitting position, the ancient leather beneath your thighs groans in protest and draws your attention: a divan. Old. Similarly outdated is the vintage television set decorating your tiny cell, switched on but depicting nothing but snow, and the security camera hooked to the ceiling and tracking your every move. A stack of nondescript clothing items sits atop an otherwise bare table, bidding you to dress in something other than the hospital-issued gown you’d woken up in. The tarnished brass door knob turns with some difficulty under your shaking hand, permitting you to wander into the richly carpeted hallway, littered with old dusty paintings and an endless series of doors identical to the one you'd just pulled open. It seems to go on forever, it seems to extend endlessly and infinitely into the distance, but at last you reach a set of grand stairs that draws you downward onto the ground floor. Not a soul has met you yet in your journey, and the atmosphere around you speaks nothing but silence. The exit swims in front of you, beckoning you close... you stretch your fingers to touch the door handle and your mind blanks. Motivation abandons you in an instant and you turn an about face, seeing no further reason to linger when every fiber of your being screams at you to return to that room you awoke in, for safety, for comfort. "Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light, my head grew dizzy and my sight grew dim, I had to stop for the night" "How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat Some dance to remember, some dance to forget" "Mirrors on the ceiling, the pink champagne on ice; she said 'we are all just prisoners here of our own device" Welcome to the Hotel California. You can check out any time you'd like, but you can never leave. → THE GIST → Your character is stuck in a creepy antique hotel. Every time they get the bright idea to try to leave, their body and mind both physically will them away. Windows only open the barest amount, enough to let air in, and nothing else. Attempts to break them will fail, each and every time. → There is a kitchen on the first floor, and a dining room. The kitchen is stocked with non- perishables, enough to feed a large amount of people for at least a year. → There are 300+ individual rooms, each numbered. They come standard with an ancient television that only works half the time, tuned to a random news station that changes every odd day. Some have single occupancy beds, some have double. There is also a small dresser, a vanity, and a closet barely big enough to hold a few clothing items. → There is 1 common bathroom per floor with 1 toilet, 1 sink, and 1 clawed bathtub. Warm water, thankfully, is plentiful. → There are a number of sitting rooms on the ground floor, with plush sofas and chairs and bookshelves stuffed with books from just about any time/place imaginable. Also of note, items appear and disappear at random intervals. Something might be there one day, only to be gone the next. Likewise do items appear without notice. Is it magic? Nobody quite knows. → RULES * Characters can be 1) completely original and new, 2) plucked fresh out of other FF games and tossed in (i.e. Damon Lannister from the GoT RP), or 3) pulled out of a fandom of your choice (i.e. Dean Winchester from Supernatural). The latter 2 are more fun, but I won't be restrictive. Supernatural abilities are allowed, but none will permit your character to escape the hotel regardless of how god-like they may be. * B/G rule not in effect, but try to do a 2:1 ratio at least. * Try not to disappear without notice. Players reserve the right to remove their tag with your characters if you don't reply for at least 5-7 days. → PROFILE Name: Age: Species: Human, vampire, angel of the lord, etc. Source: Name the RPG they're from, the fandom they're from, or put 'original' if they're new. Three Fast Facts: Include here any supernatural abilities, the type of universe they're from, what they were doing when they got stolen away, etc. You don't have to rewrite their bio or what happened to them in their original game, just give the important bits. → THE CAST Name: Mellark (Mel) Easton Age: 16 Species: Witch Source: Daughters of Salem Three Fast Facts: - Mel has the power to control/manipulate water (hydrokinesis). She also has the gift of sleep induction, though it’s a relatively new addition to her witch resume. Presently, she can only render others unconscious for two to three minutes. - Mellark was raised by a Spanish family on the Canary Island of La Gomera. She knew from a young age that she was not blood related to the people offering her food and shelter, but they were nice enough and she was too young to object. She learned of her powers at thirteen, whilst suffering a sexual assault. She drowned the man hurting her in his bodily fluids. Scared and unsure, she sought an explanation from her adoptive family. They dubbed her a demon and kept her at arm’s length. - Melancholy should’ve been her name, or so Mel decided once puberty hit. Her isolation led to depression and self-deprecation. She began to believe, perhaps, she was a demon. That’s until Mel was visited by two women sent by her birth mother (The Supreme). They arrived on her sixteenth birthday with news she belonged at Pembroke Academy for witches. Mel arrived at Pembroke two weeks ago. Her mother, she was told, was away on important coven business. She’d just begun getting acquainted with her peers and Headmistress half-sister when she was unexplainably transported to Hotel California. Hailing from a small, conservative town on the Central Coast in California, Amelia was one of three born to a family so obnoxiously normal it was almost sitcom worthy. Adolescence saw Amelia desperate to distinguish herself from her seemingly cardboard copy sisters, choosing black colors and baggy clothes in place of the pastel print dresses they wore and investing her time in MMORPGs and online wiccan message boards instead of extracurricular activities and Sunday school. The unknown breeds discomfort, people generally fearing what they don't understand. Amelia got her wish in the end, much to her eventual regret. - Amelia had been accused of devil worship and practicing witchcraft long before she learned of her innate gifts, but it was her ambiguous sexuality that fueled the brunt of her hazing. It was at the height of her abuse, when a vicious prank went viral on youtube, that Amelia's powers manifested itself in a manner worthy of a Stephen King novel. The result was a burned down house and two teenage bodies burned beyond recognition. A week later and she was spirited off to Pembroke Academy in Louisiana to familiarize herself with her new coven of sisters and rehabilitate emotionally, the tragedy swiftly swept under the rug. - A year in and Amelia is still having a hard time playing nicely with others. What might be a mere verbal spat amongst normal teenage girls generally involves temporary disfigurement amongst a troupe of adolescent witches. One such quarrel resulted in Amelia and the other involved parties being forced to work together on a new incantation as punishment. Something with the spell obviously went wrong because instead of transmuting a piece of lead into gold, they all ended up in the hotel instead. His mother and father were hippies of some sort, but they loved him and raised him well. Hearst acquired his free spirit from their "here today, gone tomorrow" teachings. Hearst's aunt and would-have-been uncle were also a unique addition to the family unit. Hearst's aunt was kind and unassuming, cliche even. It was her fiancé, Eli, that drew attention to himself. He was always running off to 'take care of business.' Hearst rifled through his bags when he was otherwise occupied and located books on the occult. Witches, voodoo priests, werewolf's, succubi, etc. All things supernatural were present. Hearst never let on that he'd seen the items, for fear of being reprimanded and because of a shared interest in the subject. Eli intrigued Hearst. Hearst intended to confront his almost uncle eventually, but never got the chance. Hearst's aunt was brutally murdered by a bear (according to news reports), and Eli took off with Hearst's cousins before telling the family he was supposed to marry into goodbye. - Hearst never believed a bear killed his aunt. He had two theories: Eli went mad and killed her, or there was truth to his supernatural obsession and demons of some sort cut his aunt's life short. Hearst believed the latter. He spent his teenage years and early adulthood researching the supernatural world and visiting locations where people claimed to have run-ins with witches, vampires, etc. At age twenty-three, Hearst began to live in various woods searching for the unknown. He has encountered multiple evils since he began his hunting journey, and escaped death numerous times. Hearst thrives in his nomad lifestyle, feeling a sense of pride in extinguishing evil and protecting mankind. However, he no longer wants to do it alone. He has been searching for his uncle Eli for the last year and believes he is close to closing in on him. - Hearst, unlike many supernatural hunters, does not believe that all magical beings come from dark magic. He has a vigilante spirit, only desiring to eliminate the demons, witches, etc. that pose a threat. Perhaps he is too kind, allowing creatures a chance to prove they are not as cruel as society assumes, but Hearst is determined to stand firm on his principles. Hearst was in the middle of a family locating spell with a light witch named Jorie when he was transported to the Hotel California. She allowed others to convince her of her brother’s death or voluntary abandonment. To numb the pain, Lou turned to drugs. She spent a year high and drunk before a pregnancy snapped her out of her stupor. - Damian’s birth was the catalyst for Lou’s redemption. Looking into her son’s eyes, she realized Max never would’ve left willingly. Louisa spent the next three years studying and training at the Police Academy. At twenty-four, she became the youngest detective in her precinct. All her hard work was for one reason and one reason alone…to find her brother. Lou vowed to leave no stone unturned and, thankfully, had the support of her best friend Lauren to help her along the journey. - After years of searching, praying, screaming, life answered Louisa's request. One month ago, her brother (what was left of him) came home. He returned a member of the undead and Lou was overwhelmed. Part of her was thrilled, but a bigger part of her was angry. Angry at the vampires for ripping her brother away. She never understood people’s fascination with the supernatural world, and now her distrust had a solid foundation. But Max was one of them. How could she hate something, someone, she loved...loves? Lou was trying to figure it all out when she was sent to the Hotel California. Her fondest memories growing up are of reading the books her father gave her at the foot of her mother's grand piano as her lithe fingers danced along the keys. Like her father, Lauren acquired an appreciation for European Romanticists but her great love for Victorian Gothic novels is hers and hers alone. The scarier the better. - Following in her father's footsteps, Lauren enrolled in a then infant Vampiric Studies program at Tullane University in the wake of the fanged community's grand revelation of its existence to the world. One of the pioneering scholars on the subject, Lauren was well on her way to accepting a staffing position with Tulane University when tragedy called her back home. With the onset of her mother's Alzheimer's disease, Lauren decided to move back to Belle Chase in order to provide moral support for her father and help him with the upkeep of her childhood home. Though her career has been temporarily put on hold, she has continued with her research from home and in the mean time works as a senior archivist for Belle Chase Public Library in order to help pay for her mother's medical bills. - For all her knowledge on the origins, culture, biology and behaviorisms of vampires, her experience with them has been largely theoretical up until very recently when her best friend's believed to be dead brother suddenly turned up looking not a day older than the twenty-seven year old he had been ... eleven years ago. Even with an extensive knowledge of the subject, years of spending more time with books than people has left Lauren's interpersonal skills a touch stunted and thus she was only slightly better equipped to cope with the situation than Louisa Sokoloff had been. Progress being slow and arduous, Lauren managed to graduate from inane excuses devised to spend time with her childhood crush (soliciting him to help her look for her missing cats around the neighborhood and accidentally manipulating him into saving her from becoming some other vampire's midnight snack just to name a few) to the two interacting under mutually beneficial circumstances. Lauren was well on her way to living out a childhood fantasy when the powers that be decided to amuse themselves by interrupting. One moment Max Sokoloff's cold lips had captured hers in a ravenous kiss, the next they were standing in the middle of a strange room decidedly not her living room in Belle Chase, Louisiana. Since she realized her Succbi powers she has become more and more sexual and finds herself doing things she usually wouldn't. She went from smart, introvert to extroverted sex kitten. Odette had a long night with her latest conquest and when she fell asleep in the morning light, she woke up in the hotel room. 'Emotions are for sissys' his father would say. - One day when Charlie and his best friend John were out camping. they were attacked by a creature. Neither of them were sure what it was but it scratched both of them, turning them into werewolves. They turned the next full moon and it made Charlie turn into even more of a loner than before because he didn't want to hurt anyone. - Despite being a loner, Charlie met the love of his life when he was in his 20s. She was introduced to him by John's wife and he instantly fell in love. They had a whirlwind romance and got married after only six months. The two of them, along with her daughter, were a happy little family until tragedy stuck and she died in a car accident. It was one such outing that she met a dark and handsome stranger. She couldn't resist the stranger she met and she began having an affair with him that very night. She felt more alive than she had in years and she couldn't bring herself to stop. He seemed to really love kissing her neck and she thought nothing of it until one night she felt his teeth go into her. - She awoke in the middle of the night craving blood. Stumbling home, she tried to act normal but something was off. Shortly around dinner time, the hunger became too much and something took over. His martial skills reasonably adequate, his knowledge of economics and politics tolerable and his aptitude for military strategy slightly above par, Damon could easily make for a decent Lord but for the fact that he finds spends most of his time at the bottom of a wine glass and in the company of a pretty and expensive girls who may or may not also be unknowingly related to him. Gemma has recently toyed with the idea of running away and making her own life. - Gemma is use to getting what she wants with her father but having to push, usually unsuccessfully with her mother. Gemma loves reading and books, generally any kind of learning. They were driven out of their homeland by a great evil called the adversary. In Fabletown Bigby, who was very much reformed from his old ways, was Sheriff. - Bigby has the ability to turn into a half-man, half-wolf, or a large wolf and he can also blow a large gust of wind from his lungs in either form. - Bigby has both a overeating problem (Especially when stressed) and anger issues he needs to deal with. Bigby was in a fight with one of the local criminals when he got knocked over the head and woke up in the hotel.
