| Adding and editing has happened. I know there are still some "townie" profiles that need submitted, but since all the principles are in, I so no reason to delay any futher. Let the fun begin! Lila The three hour drive to the lake always seemed to last forever. Lila had begged to drive her own car, a late model VW Cabriolet convertible without the yielding of her parents. She didn’t understand why she had a leave a car so perfect for summer at home all by itself. Plus, she had looked forward to driving around Syracuse with the top down with her friends. That wasn’t going to happen now, and that was driving her crazy. Soon after her and her mom got on 30 to take them into Ft Wayne and then towards Syracuse, she left her disappointment behind her. They sang songs at the top of their lungs, and talked about the summer and reminisced on the past year. There was a lot to think about. Lila had her first serious boyfriend – they only broke up a month ago. There had been Prom and graduation – not Lila’s but many of her friends would be heading on to college. Of course the break up which torn her apart for a while… And other things. Exams. Her part time job. Her friends. She knew how lucky she was to have the kind of relationship she shared with her mother. The pair stopped in Ft. Wayne to pick up groceries, because after nine months of being empty, all their cupboards would be bare at their summer home. Lila managed to talk her mom into buying a four pack of wine coolers for the two to share on the front porch while they watched the rest of the summer world go by on the lake later that evening. Lila’s mom was always cool like that. Eventually they were so near to the lake Lila could smell it in the air. Somehow the small body of water really changed the atmosphere of the small town. It was so much different from her small home town. As they snaked through the small roads nearer to the lake she was anxious to see if her friends had arrived. Her and Olivia and been on the phone constantly over the last few weeks talking about the impending summer – gotta love cell phones with free long distance. She knew her ooma (that’s object of my affection, btw) was already there – he’s always there. But everyone else… who knows. But they all would be. As Lila and her mom pulled into the familiar driveway of their quaint cottage, just 20 yards off the water, Lila knew without a doubt that this was going to be a great summer. __________________ #264 ![]() I cannot find the words to say I need you so ![]() | |||

| Marc How far from home can you really be going if your destination is in the same state? Even so, and even though he had made the trip to Syracuse for as long as he could remember, his mom made certain that he had two versions of computerized directions, written directions with noted landmarks and a map of the State of Indiana. One might muse she was a little over protective. It was a four hour trip; that was true. But at the end of the summer, he was going to be twice as far away at Penn State. Was she going to provide a detailed map to get there, too? Marc had his mp3 player blaring as he headed north on I-69 in his 4Runner. It wasn’t the newest car in the world, but he was happy with it. It was nice enough to impress his friends and the girls, but not so nice that people would think he was a snob. And to Marc, that was ideal: to be enough, but not be too much. It just seemed to make sense to him. His mind wandered a lot while he was driving. By the time it was time to turn onto Route 30, he had been so lost in his thoughts that he almost missed it. Perhaps there is a lot to think about when you’re 18 years old and voluntarily traveling to spend the summer with your grandmother. Sure, he thought he had gotten too old to make this trip, but the friends at the lake were so special, so different from any other relationships he had formed in his short life. So what if his friends back home ribbed him a bit? They didn’t know how hot the girls were -- a secret that Marc had purposely kept to keep said friends at bay. While his transplanted for the summer friends would spend their first few days at the lake opening their houses and getting all the necessaries in order, Marc knew that his house never closed. In fact, his bed would probably even be made with freshly laundered, probably brand new sheets his grandma had supplied. It was almost like a hotel that way. The food was always available and delicious, too. Sure, he had to do the lawn work (it was a small lot) and some minor repairs (which generally involved hanging shelves or photographs) but he knew that was a small price to pay. And he was pretty much happy to pay it. Carson It was mid evening when Carson pulled up in front of the Wawa Angler, his Jeep topless and without doors, a cigarette hanging out of his mouth. He’d had a hard landing during his skiing and broken the tip off one of his skis, which quickly ended their practice. They had a show coming up for the town’s Summer Kick Off BBQ and he wanted it to be great. Which means he needed to break in a new pair in the next 10 days. The best place to get what he needed was the Angler, but as he could tell from the “Closed” sign on the door, he’d be waiting until tomorrow. “Damn,” he said, casting the cigarette from his mouth and onto the street. But, being the quick thinker he was, and not having anything better to do, he figured he’d drive a few driveways down to the Maxwell’s house and see if Jeff could hook him up with an after hours sale. Even if he couldn’t, Carson reasoned the two could at least find some trouble to get into. He pulled his Jeep into the Maxwell's driveway and went up to the door. Hopefully he woudln't p*ss off Mr. Maxwell in the process. TAG JEFF __________________ #264 ![]() I cannot find the words to say I need you so ![]() | |||

| Lila The spacious cottage smelled musty even after Lila and her mom had opened all the windows to let in the fresh air. History told them the place would be fresh smelling in the next few days, but both girls were doing their best to help aid in making the odor. Mrs. Stone had been going room to room with a can of Lysol, while Lila had lit various candles and the Tommy Hilfiger scented incense her friend Lauren had bought her for her birthday. She loved the cacophony of fragrances, plus they did an excellent job of hiding the musty smell. Either that, or they did a great job of exhausting her scent receptors. Either way, mission accomplished. It didn’t take too long to unload the vehicle of their things. Soon they were feeling completely at home. And it was home, at least for the summer. Mr. Stone arrived later and they all unpacked his car as well. With the family settled in, they ordered pizza from Pizza Shack, the local pizza parlor who delivers, which is what they did every year their first night there. While waiting for dinner to arrive, Mrs. Stone and Lila took their wine coolers to the porch to enjoy. They watched as boats went by, trying to distinguish which ones might have been rented from the Wawa Angler and which hadn’t. They also thought they saw one of Mrs. Stone’s friend’s husbands on a fishing boat. They had waved just in case. After one wine cooler, they were both giggly and relaxed, truly enjoying the breeze off the lake and the setting sun. The pizza arrived when there were half way through their second drink. Mr. Stone paid the driver and brought dinner out to the porch. The family shared their pizza and watched the activity on the lake. In the distance, they saw the Wawa Trick Skiers practicing. They were a group of locals who put on shows in Syracuse and sometimes further away. Lila knew a couple of them and they were always a lot of fun. Lila had been patient about getting away from her family, but as they cleaned up from dinner she was feeling less and less tolerant. “Can I see if anyone else is here yet?” She asked, half sheepishly. “Lila, its late. Why don’t you just call?” Her mother suggested. Lila jutted out her button lip theatrically, “that’s no fun,” she protested. She had spent the entire day with her mother and she was ready to get away for a little while. “It’s not like I’m asking to head to downtown Columbus, ma. It’s just Syracuse. You’d let me if we were home.” The teen’s argument was logical and accurate. It wasn’t even 10:00pm yet. There was still sun left in the sky. “Okay,” her mother caved, “But don’t be out too late.” Too late meant one thing: be back in bed before her parents got out of bed and early enough so she didn’t sleep the next day away. Lila knew at least the Maxwell’s would be here. She wouldn’t mind spending quality time with either of them, though she did have a preference. Marc His grandma had fresh baked cookies waiting when he got there. The house smelled wonderful. She had dinner cooking in the over – lasagna, his favorite. He had just enough time to unpack before dinner was ready. His grandmother was so excited to hear about all his college plans for the fall. He helped her clean up and do the dishes. They were finished just in time for Jeopardy, which was their nightly ritual. By Double Jeopardy, she’d be dozing off. He’d wake her up as they announced the Final Jeopary category. She’d hear the answer and almost always nail the question. Grandma was a smart cookie. Then she would head to be and she’d be up with the sun the next morning. That left his evenings free to do whatever he wanted. Tonight, he was hoping a certain girl had made it to town already because he had really missed her. He went to the bathroom to make sure he hadn’t dropped lasagna all over his shirt. Satisfied, he headed out to his truck to cruise past her house, hoping he’d have the nerve to stop if she was there. He slowed down as he got nearer, noting some lights were on. Some of the families left timers on year round to make the place appear lived in. He didn’t know for sure what her family did. But with his lack of speed, if someone was home, for sure they would have noticed him. He had to go to the door now; he’d given himself no choice. He parked out front and headed toward the front door. Baker’s Summer Hide-a-Way read a painted sign on the porch. Great way to make the world think it a year round residence like grandma’s, he thought to himself. He paused before knocking, trying to decide what to say when he saw her. He figured he’d just wing it, knocking loud enough to be heard and hoping that Andrea would answer the door. | OOC: Posting Olivia for now. Others coming soon. Feel free to tag ![]() Olivia Baker It had been two hours since they had arrived into town. She was so excited to see Lila for the first time in months. They had spoken on the phone, but it wasn't the same as actually seeing her. She was in her bedroom of her summer home unpacking her things. She was gonna call Lila and ask her if she wanted to go do something. She was bored and with Andrea off somewhere else in the house, she really had nothing to do.She heard a knock at the door, but she thought it would be for Andrea since Marc had probably gotten wind that they were in town. How come her sister got a boyfriend or a guy who liked her and she didn't? It sucks being 15. She sat on her bed and got her cell phone and sent a quick text. Hey Lila. Wanna do something 2nite? Livvi x She pressed send and waited for a response. Tag Lila __________________ vote Britt Scarlett&Bobby if only she could r e m e m b e r him | |||
