Having survived industrialization, post-modernism, and devastating economic fluxes, Boston emerged as one of the nation’s premier centers for politics, art, culture, and music (and most recently, it is responsible for the emergence of the hardcore punk scene). Some of them do, but not everyone. While Weston offers a broad spectrum of extra curriculars, there are those who derive their greatest satisfaction not from scoring goals or making touch downs, but from empty promises whispered in the dark of a stranger’s bedroom. For some, it’s a malicious and calculated game that objectifies unwitting victims, reducing them to black pen marks in little black books, and arbitrary notches on belts of experience. For others, it’s a careless and ignorant gesture; a one-night stand written off as nothing more than a casual fling. And then there are those who are just guilty by association. Your friends are an extension of yourself, and if their locker-room talk boasts of latest conquests and present endeavors, you’re no better than the lot of them. In fact, you might be worse, for you stood idly by. Or so the story goes. As tiny vessels oozed into your neck and formed the bruises That you said you didn’t want to fade But they did, and so did I that day “The game,” to put it bluntly, is no longer about bedding the most innocent girl in school or the taming of the shrew. It’s about the lies we tell ourselves to get us through another day, and the comfort we find in the rhythm of a stranger’s skin. It’s about careless acts of passion, carefully construed plans of moral depravity, and meaningless trysts that perpetuate a vicious cycle of guilt and self-deprecation. It’s about the people we push away to keep from getting too close; to prevent from preying on our weaknesses, or discovering the carefully polished chinks in our seemingly impenetrable armor. It’s about the lengths we will go to make sure we are the ones who leave first come sunrise, because there is nothing worse than waking up to find that someone else already beat you to it. | YASY! The site won't be done in time. But I am excited. My crushes etc. isn't written out, but I have some storyline things. Arabelle is a part of the "mean girls" clique, and her and her friends are the epitome of perfection. Arabelle is also a part of the Davenports, where as she assumes the role of daughter and sister. She isn't fooled by Ryan's charm. In fact she is probably the only one who can see through his act. Sarasa is their very own exchange student. Arabelle doesn't plan on getting close to her. | Players Peter Connoway: Although Celinda Garrett practically gives him wet dreams just by looking at him, Peter knows better. He plans on softening her up first, then going in for the kill. She's his back-up girl, though. For now, he thinks that Ayda Elmeligue would be perfect for his book, and is amused at seeing how far he can make her go. Others Leah Madison: She doesn't really get crushes. But she watches Nolan McAllister because he's pretty. However, the closest thing to a crush she has is on none other than Billy Macphire. Not only is he gorgeous, but smart and interesting. | I'm just going to repost all these here for easy reference. Again, I tend to just pick characters with PBs that I think are either a.) cute or hot, or b.) um ... cute or hot. Yeah. So there are a few random names dropped in here. Don't feel obligated to reciprocate. OR DO. It works either way for me. Andrea Donahue’s crush: Just as Andie is often accused of being mean, she’s often also misconceived as being a gung-ho raging feminist, and while it’s true she’ll be the first person to point out all the institutional forms of oppression that still exist to suppress women, she doesn’t hate men. Andie likes boys, even though they annoy her, but she can forgive some of them because they are pretty and she’s shallow. Trouble is, Andie has trouble functioning around the really pretty boys, and her irrational fear of physical and emotional intimacy often sabotages any chance she has at a forging a healthy relationship. So she chooses to take a rather passive approach. You might say that Andie admires from afar. Really afar. Rather than just go up and make conversation (something that’s already been established she’s not really good at), Andie organizes stake-outs and will occasionally take the long way to class just so she can pass by a certain someone’s locker. And that certain someone happens to be Leo D’Arcy, which reminds me, Andie also has a thing for unattainable bad boys. All the more reason to admire the pretty from far, far away. Andrew Echolls’s crush: Margaret Anstruther, or so his intuition would tell him to say if anyone ever were to ask (and was completely blind to the fact that he is constantly all over her, HELLO overabundant PDAs!) She’s been his steady girlfriend of two years, and he’s usually too busy engaging in some sort of sex escapade with her, or thinking about a new one to orchestrate (say hi! to Weston’s resident nymphos), to think about other girls. What Meg doesn’t know is that initially, she wasn’t Andrew’s first choice. He remembers being mildly amused by the cute little sprite and flattered by her unmistakable crush, but it was her darker haired, elusive friend he was more intrigued by. So where does the likes of Reagan Atherton stand in Andrew’s book these days? A passing thought mostly, or an occasional “what if?” when his girlfriend is too busy doting on other charity cases to pay attention to him. Somewhere along the line, that cute little (frisky, hey hey!) sprite grew on him, and although his vices and short tempter occasionally get the better of him, he loves her more than even he probably realizes. It should probably be mentioned that there is one other love of his life, and she goes by the name of Neveah Matthews, Andrew's BFF without that last cliched "F" since ... well, since before he can remember, really. For those who ever doubted two people of the opposite sex couldn't possibly be friends without any complications, they never met Andrew and Neveah, who he practically considers a sister (and just like with his real sister, he's just a tad overprotective and goes out of his way to occasionally piss her off.) Andrew likes to think of himself as Neveah's conscious, when she forgets herself around her bigoted perfect blonde "friends." And of course, the more unwelcome he is around them, the more he makes it a point to show up and visit his "good friend." Christopher Graham’s target/crush: When Chris was younger, every time his mothers took him to the candy store, he always had trouble deciding on just one thing. He loved the jawbreakers, but there were also unicorn horn lollypops, the gummy worms, assorted toffees, the sno-caps. Chris was never satisfied until he sampled everything. Things haven’t changed very much, except instead of sampling every candy under the sun, Chris is still in his “sampling” stage as far as women go. It’s not his intention to string anyone along, or dupe anyone into believing a good time at a party is anything more, which is why you’ll usually find Chris in the company of a certain caliber of women; beautiful and intelligent. Celinda Garrett is a lot like him in that she’s not the type to form attachments, and when Shayla Towers dances, Chris can’t take his eyes off her or her bright red hair. The girl who holds the most prominent place in his life however, is Maya Odathi, a close friend who has lent an ear to his many exploits, even though she’s never taken part in them personally. When he gets caught up in his school work, she’s usually there to rescue him, and it’s always a bonus when her cute friend Sadie Riehl tags along for the ride. Outside of frivolous attractions, Chris has yet to develop strong feelings for any singular person. Maybe Chris just hasn’t met the right girl yet. Maybe he has a short attention span. Maybe he’s just not ready for a mature relationship yet. Or maybe it just comes down to that clichéd candy allegory; Chris will settle only after he’s sampled a little bit of everything and figures out exactly what he wants. Deirdre Marquet’s crush: Spontaneity is a way of life for Deirdre, and as expected, her attractions have the same lifespan as her short lived impulses; that is to say, they last a good five minutes before they have run their course. There is one exception: the Clyde to her Bonnie, Egan Devereux and Deirdre Marquet have shared everything from lunchboxes to beds (strictly for sleeping purposes) since they were young children, and the strong bond they forged has withstood the test of time and Deirdre’s short attention span. Suffice it to say, Deirdre is next to oblivious about what “The Teenage Guide to Relationships,” AKA any WB show, dictates is the next obvious evolutionary step in their relationship (i.e. belated attraction, dating, marriage, behbes, horses and sunsets, happily ever after, etc). Which is probably just as well, because Deirdre would trade the Dawson and Joey saga for a History channel special about Elizabeth I and Robert Dudley’s alleged torrid romance any day. Lauren Palmer’s crush: Lauren has reached a point in her life that she is perfectly happy with the way things are; uncomplicated. Responsible only to herself, and perhaps her parents, Lauren learned long ago that the world of high school dating and relationships is a fickle world. Having a boyfriend is not detrimental to her happiness. Before leaving for California three years ago, Lauren had the biggest crush on Chase Halvorson, in spite of the fact that they ran in two completely different crowds and the extent of their interaction was limited a sentence or two exchanged. Having returned to Boston only a few months ago, she’s hardly had the time to scope out the sea of pretty faces she is surrounded by and put names to said faces. She is, after all, a little preoccupied with graduating and finding a certain little blonde girl. If something were to arise in the future and present itself to her, and the timing appropriate, she wouldn’t turn a blind eye to it, but at the moment boys just aren’t at the top of her list of things to do (pun possibly intended.) Natalie Giordano’s crush: Turning sixteen didn’t just mark the day Natalie Giordano could finally go out for her driver’s license it was also the day she could officially start dating. Having been deprived of the opportunity to embarrass any of their children’s dates, (it is a general custom that a daughter’s date must suffer the dreaded “what are your intentions?” speech, and Natalie’s siblings are all boys, thus they have been subjected to the menacing interviews of their dates’ families) Natalie’s family pulls out all the stops when a new boy comes to take her out. This includes not only interrogation by her parents, but her three older brothers (all of whom have surpassed age 30), and nonna Lucia, the scariest mutha of them all. Naturally, for their youngest child and their only daughter, the Giordanos expect only the best; a good Christian boy (complete with references from the boy’s pastor or priest), with honorable intentions, and the understanding that he will keep his hands to himself. (“This here is my daughter. Anything that touches her belongs to me also, and if your hands touch her, they will be mine as well.”) Antony Giordano usually keeps a pair of hedge cutters on the coffee table in front of him when he gives this speech. As you can imagine, Natalie doesn’t get many dates, mostly because she’d rather avoid the drama of the “screening” process. | So it's crushes and targetses you wants is it precious? Well here they are! Take them! Take them now! Get them away from us!! Wicked! Tricksy! False! *gollum* *gollum* Players - The Targets [Nolan McAllister]: One wouldn't think it by looking at him, or being around him, or even talking to him, but our friend Nolan happens to be a one-woman guy -- well, in the sense that every girl he's with thinks they're the only one. That counts right? Eh maybe not, but who ever said these things had to be logical. The current list he happened to be amassing was compiled with utmost care and consideration; in the case of bedding and heartbreaking, one has to take precautions, you see. And who should be the lucky victims chosen for his next round of shameless entertainment? Well first you'd have to knock out the easy targets versus the challenging ones. Easy targets would include such characters as Diana Morgan and Frankie Federico -- nothing to be ashamed of. After all, there is something to be said for a reliable piece of ass. There was actually a whole other category altogether -- the not-so-challenging ones, but still not to be confused with the easy ones. Females like Catalina Gutierre would be among those counted and remained as such because, well, frankly he'd never taken the opportunity to capitalize on her crush in particular. But hell yeah, he knew about it. Then there were the actually challenging targets -- the ones that really got under his skin, because in actuality he doesn't want them, but the sheer fact that they probably don't want him either drives him up a fucking wall, and he hasn't figured out how to deal with it. So he's chosen them to be his prospects, his potential success stories. Something to make his senior year go a little faster. Natalie Giordano is at the top of that list, for the most part. Her total dedication to religious practices and complete abhorrence for the tasteless behavior from the game participants alone would warrant some kind of intrigue from him, her polar opposite in every way possible. He knew he didn't stand a chance -- she probably had infantry and cavalry surrounding the 20-foot-thick outer wall that guarded the keep to her locked virginity, but she wouldn't be a challenge if she didn't. Something had to be said for Eliza Echolls hotness, but his ability to generate the necessary amount of effort to find out if the packaging was worth it hadn't yet registered in his brain. There were also those who he knows do not like him and yet he knows he could have them if he really wanted to try hard enough, Tanner West and Fiona Cooper-Davenport being among them. A bit young on Fiona's part, but at least not a freshman. He wanted to keep his options open on all playing fields, but everyone needs goals. [Celinda Garrett]: A lot of guys could try and occasion enough brain power to form their own typical opinions about what kind of person Celinda was behind closed doors, but chances are all they'd be left with would be some confusing unanswered questions and a hard on the size of Texas. It's probably what made her participation in the game so effortless -- she felt no shame in taking what she needed from such mindless neanderthals on a regular basis. At the end of the day, she got what she wanted and was, for the most part, satisfied in that acquisition (though on some occasions, she'd have been better off taking care of matters herself). There had been a couple of rather messy situations, namely a little debaucle with one Kasey Morgan involving some anal retentive parentals, a few heavy charges and some even heavier PDAs. Ultimately, though, it just ended up being another story she could tell herself when she was having doubts that the male species weren't actually worthless altogether. While she's pretty sure she'll always have him as a back-up screw in case things turned bad and she only had a ludicrous amount of guys to choose from, she had set her sights on a few potentialities. Nicholas Tam was just one of those unavoidables -- hot and fully aware of it, and a little friction between the sheets or some action on a random flat surface wouldn't be discounted as something in the foreseeable future. If she could call herself forming anything of a bond with anyone, and if you could even call it that, she'd have to go with Christopher Graham; they seemed to share the same aversion for all things touchy-feely when it came to sex...seriously, it was hard enough to even expect a guy to have the ability to get you off, why bother adding superfluous nuances like "feelings" and "emotions" to the already confusing mix? Dear God, what a snorefest. She'd take a big no-thank-you helping from that potential migraine from hell, thank you very much. The wherewithall of such innocents (and they were only innocent in comparison -- she didn't really know anything about them and would probably keep it that way) as Chase Halvorson didn't go ignored either. It wasn't in the bag as most mutual attractions go, but she was pretty confident it wouldn't take much. _____________ Others - The Crushes [Micah Dunlevy]: Mentioning the subject of girls or relationships would probably earn you a good evasive non-conversation from Micah, especially were the subject to be breached around his foster mother, unlikely though it may have been. It just wasn't his favorite topic...or his second favorite...or really his anything favorite. There was just no reason to talk about it; talking didn't get things done anyway. Being a heterosexual male, he wasn't novice to the concept of attraction; this was proved in his perspective on Isobel Wescott -- cute and sweet in that introverted way which he couldn't deny was something that demanded at least a little bit of attention. He wouldn't have minded if they maybe had something of a friendship that led to more. But, as aforemented, it wasn't something he dwelled on. Chloe Kostas was pretty easy on the eyes too, if we're strictly talking surface, which we are since he doesn't really know her or much about her. That wasn't to say he wouldn't make the leap if he had to; he was just too busy with other matters, like taking care of his car and fulfilling his duties in the Anime Club. If for no other reason than to ease the chiding from his foster mom when he actually called her, he'd find a girl eventually. [Aubrey St. John]: It would've been easy to blame Aubrey's lack of a sex life on her hectic school schedule or an endless list of extra curriculars, but truth be told, she wasn't really all that keen on what she'd come to know as The Game (not the rapper). If she was supposed to have sex with a guy, she'd have had it by now -- no need in going around sampling from everything with genitalia and a moderate source of experience. She'd had boyfriends, it just hadn't ever gotten that involved; so she couldn't be classified as one of those girls who wrote off sex and relationships because they'd never sampled either. However, strictly speaking from her powers of observation, she wouldn't have minded a little one-on-one interaction with guys like Tristan Cochran and Holden Harrell. She didn't really understand a lot of the cultural courting differences between Americans and Brits, but she was learning. And since acceptable English guys were about one in a bagillion, and if she had to take her chances, she'd take them with those two in mind. She also couldn't deny the appeal of Jameson Montague, if for nothing else, than the sheer fact that he just did whatever the hell he wanted to whoever the hell he wanted. Wasn't a crush...more of a fascination with the outcome of all his conquests. Kind of like an addiction to a really bad soap. In reality, Aubrey never discounted a guy she was attracted to unless he opened his mouth and ruined things for himself.
