Paranormal Seasons at Flying Saucer High | A Make Your Own Character RP

Roswell, USA
I said, "That's a very interesting story but not exactly what we talked about on the phone. Especially the part about the little green men." And he paused and he said, "They weren't green."'--Frank Joyce: United Press International, 1947

Just mention the word Roswell or Area 51 and watch all the conspiracy theorists, X-Filers, true believers and UFO-watchers come running from the bunkers. Exactly why hordes of aliens are supposedly flocking to this hot, tiny dustbowl of a town at the edge of the dry plains of Llano Estacado is a mystery, but to hear it told Roswell is the extraterrestrial vacationing equivalent of Florida.

The whole thing started on 1 July 1947 during a dramatic thunderstorm, when residents of the area reported seeing bright lights in the night sky and Alamogordo station started tracking a strange object on the radar screens. There was a loud explosion, the object blipped off the screen, and the local ranchers and their animals started getting nervous.

This was the last remaining moment of sanity as far as the town was concerned. Over the next couple of years it seemed that every resident of Roswell had seen a flying saucer crash, had picked up 'strange debris' from the crash site, seen the charred bodies of the 'humanoid aliens' with their 'slanted eyes' and 'large heads', witnessed an alien wandering around the crash site, or appeared on the TV show 'Unsolved Mysteries'.

According to Roswell's citizens the army at Area 51 (notorious for its covert operations and secret experiments) tried to cover up the crash with a ****-and-bull story about a weather balloon and since then it's been variations on one big theme. The believers say 'flying saucer', 'aliens', and 'extraterrestrial debris'; the army says 'weather balloon', 'crash dummies' and 'experimental material'.

Roswell has done quite well out of the little green men if the tourist traps with their 'I Saw An Alien' T-shirts are anything to go by. So, though one says 'potato' and the other says 'patata', sure as hell, no one's about to call the whole thing off.

Roswell High School
And they say that young people don't learn anything in high school nowadays, but I've learned to be afraid--Xander: BTVS

Despite the plethora of visitors who come and go like the tide within Roswell, it is actually some people’s hometown and not just a tourist trap. While certain individuals fall in love with the quirky nature of the location, many never made the decision to live their lives within the alien-merchandise peddling confines of the town; the most notable group of those who are simply stuck in Roswell are those who walk the halls of Roswell High School. While conspiracy theories abound, actual things to do are much rarer within the eccentric place. Some make $$$ through banking on the green-guy phenomena, others mock the zanies that seem to consider Roswell their Mecca, and a few just do what they have to as they count down the days until they get out of the “supernatural” town that is Roswell.

It’s A Bird, A Plane…A Flying Saucer? (THE RULES & details)

So, this has no actual plot per say, just a mere location and age group of which your characters should be between (15-19 please). Thus, if you choose to participate in this story, it is up to you-- in part--to make it interesting. That being said, the first requirement is that you attempt at creativity, the second is that you follow the boy/girl rule we all adore so much. Thirdly, post on a fairly regular basis. Don’t be afraid to venture out with new writers and make storylines with them. Lastly, get your profiles in soon and use lesser known pbs if you can manage to rack your brain for an adequate played by that isn’t on The O.C. or One Tree Hill. The one absolute no-no; do not use a pb that was a main character in the now defunct Roswell. It’s tacky and no one wants to be tacky. I attempted this once before, and despite interest it never went anywhere. Hopefully the second time will prove to be the charm. At any rate, the first section of the introduction was courtesy of lonelyplanet.com.

Characters

Taken By: Pixie Queen
Name: Johnny Andrews
Age: 17
Brief History: Johnny Andrews hasn't had an easy life his mother died when he was 10 and he's had to grow up faster than he would like. His father and brother still deal with him but he's just.. different. Everyone seems to buy into this notion of commercialism in Roswell but hre hates it and he let's people know it, even if he begrudgingly must work in UFO Center. He hates doing that too, but if it helps his family out he just grins and bears it, otherwise don't bother thinking he's cool with living in Roswell.
Personality: Artistic, Attractive, Sneaky, Blunt, Mature
Roswellian Society: Tourist trap from hell, and the people living their are just paws in it all, who are stupider than they look.
Relationships TBA.
PB: Andre Noble

Taken By: LaurieLaur
Name: Brody Atwell
Age: Eighteen
Brief History: Claire Atwell is an odd one, even by Roswell standards. While the father(s) of her brood has never publicly stepped forward to lay claim on the craziest vixen Roswell has to offer, most do not believe Claire Atwell’s theory that her two sons are results of her affairs with her Martian lovers. Supposedly ET can be a true “personal space” invader; and Claire’s claims, along with her adamant protests that her sons turn green at night have made most of the public wary and only unsuspecting tourists make their way into her conspiracy theory shop. Try as he might to shake of the stigma of being a claimed product of extraterrestrial loving, Brody is still constantly fending off questions of whether certain body parts glow in the dark.
Personality: Defiant, Unconcerned, Intractable, Quarrelsome & Derisive
Roswellian Society: Go down to Roswell Café, try to order a meal and attempt to not feel like an utter idiot. With names like the “Marvin Martian Milkshake” and a “Flying Burger” it’s impossible to not see the blatant commercial exploitation of alleged incidents that Brody has grown to hate. If Brody has one mission in life, it's to get the hell out of Roswell.
PB: Corey Sevier

Taken By: *Sarahrooie*
Name: Audrey Baehler
Age: Nineteen
Brief History: Kingston Baehler knows a money making scheme when he sees one. Audrey revered and slightly insane grandfather made himself a small fortune but being of the first people to equate that aliens could very easily mean big bucks. And for that reason he uprooted his family and dropped them in Roswell. Their his ability to turn sand into gold became rather apparent, as Kingston set up the first of many alien themed stores that now line the streets of Roswell. His business soon grew, and when the time came for him to bow down, he passed his business to Audrey's father, Ralph. Who was rather unsure of how one deals with something like that. But knowing that his father would despise him if he didn't anything else, Ralph kept a strong hold on the Baehler family business, raising his family very well with what he calls his 'alien' money.
Personality: Effusive, blunt, maladroit, persistent, unrealistic.
Roswellian Society: For Audrey, Roswell is nothing more than a handy conversation starter. Because upon informing anyone outside of Roswell her hometown they appear to have more than a few questions for her. While most are the simple clichés, and the tired questions involving aliens, at least it manages to start conversation. Bar that Audrey can see little else that makes it all that special. If there wasn't an alleged alien crash site near the town, it would be something as equally as 'quirky', like a giant ice cream cone.

PB: Zooey Deschanel

Taken By: FAIT_Accompli
Name: Adrian Barstow
Age: Eighteen
Brief History: There’s really nothing of noteworthy mention when it comes to Adrian Barstow or those who’ve preceded him. Veterans of the community, Adrian remembers many a family gatherings when his grandparents would muse about the “good old days” before aliens took over and Roswell was nothing more than a desert town with absolutely nothing to do but skip stones on the desert asphalt. With nothing but eighteen years and twenty bucks to his name, Adrian hasn’t lived long enough to really have a “history” to speak of. Give it five or ten years, and perhaps this’ll change. For now, he’s content freeloading and loafing around a town that no more wants to get rid of him than he wants to leave it.
Personality: Attentive, Cryptic, Elusive, Opinionated, and Shrewd.
Roswellian Society: There’s something about all the incessantly neurotic UFO nuts that Adrian finds to be a little … endearing. Or maybe the more appropriate term is “irresistible.” Irresistible in the sense that they’re all too easy to screw around with. Adrian can hardly find fault in a town that provides such cheep thrills and entertainment. If it’s a little green man the people want to see, then it’s a show Adrian’s more than willing to organize for them if it means a little cash and a lot of laughs in exchange.
PB: Tyler Hilton

Taken By: In Fair Verona
Name: Eileen Black
Age: 16
Brief History: Eileen Black was four years old when her Trekkie father and conspiracy theorist mother took her to Roswell, New Mexico for the three day crash festival over the July 4th weekend. It was then that the Blacks realized their true calling and less than a year later they had packed their bags and left the city of Dallas for the rural town of Roswell, leaving behind a position at the Fort Worth Star Telegram to begin The Daily Connection, a tabloid-esque conspiracy newspaper which has become a part of Roswell's culture. Her parents' unique job and Star Trek memorbilia which had outcasted them since their high school years seems to have rubbed off on their only daughter. Eileen's regarded as a little strange by the townspeople but she has always gotten along well with the tourists.
Personality: Intuitive, Unconventional, Ecletic, Enigmatic, and Whimsical.
Roswellian Society: Eileen Black may be one of the few teenagers living in Roswell, New Mexico who thoroughly enjoys her home town, not just despite it's alien insanity, but for it. Life will always be rather dull living a miniscule town out in the desert but Eileen's grateful that at least her town has some flavor. At times it gets it a little trite, but for the most part Eileen enjoys taking part in the UFO festivals and playing along with the alien theme. After all, if you can't beat them you might as well join them. Which was exactly the idea Eileen had in mind when beginning her girl with a guitar gig, The Abductee. So, does Eileen Black believe in aliens? Well, it would be a little self-centered to believe that we're the only living creatures in a universe we haven't even begun to truly explore.
Relationships TBA
PB: Elizabeth Berg

Tb: Cliffy
Name: Ryder Carlington
Age: 17
Brief History: Ryder is new to this town. He justed moved here recently, like a couple of months ago. He looks like your typical Brady Bunch family but with him, it's not the case. His parents are always fighting when they're not putting on a cute show for on lookers. Ryder could care less about them, he hates what they do and wished they call it quits, so that they don't have to be miserable. Ryder spends his time taking care of his little bratty sister, Brandy. Ryder came here because his father happened to get a new job here. Ryder left everything he knew back at the sunny beaches in California. He misses it there like crazy and he doesn't think he'll warm up to this place. He can already see he won't but he doesn't have that many choices in this
Personality: Aloof, Rebellious, Bright, Cynical,Kind hearted
Roswellian Society: Ryder thinks it's all funny. He finds it the funniest thing he's ever heard that people actually believe there's little green men running around crazy. It's the biggest joke in the world. Little green men right off of the Alien and Species movies right. There is nothing that he doesn't find more funny then this and he often points that out. He has no problem doing so. He finds it hard to believe in any of that stuff and he believes people are dumber then dirt anyways without the aliens, with the aliens it just proves to Ryder how dumb people actually are to believe Hollywood Sci Fi stories. What's next? Vampires and Elfs living among us too
Pb: Milo Ventimiglia

Taken By: FAIT_Accompli
Name: Emily Cornwell
Age: Sixteen
Brief History: Rosalyn Cornwell likes to remind her of the ambitions she used to have, the big mouth that challenged anyone who dared to antagonize the aforementioned ambitions, and most importantly, the humility she suffered once she found herself pregnant at sixteen and with little hope of following through on all she said she would do. It had never been Rosalyn’s attempt to make her only daughter feel like a burden, but the older of the Cornwell’s laments didn’t exactly do much to make Emily feel otherwise. As you may have suspected, the Cornwell’s are far from Stars Hollow’s “Gilmore Girls,” and often the two are seen chasing after one another (usually the older after the younger), engaged in some sort of argument over the future Rosalyn is determined to live vicariously through the daughter who wants to leave if not to pursue a dream she never quite found, but to get away from her overbearing mother.
Personality: Annoyed, Bashful, Neurotic, Tenacious, Unassuming.
Roswellian Society: Often at times Emily feels the only strain of sanity evident in the only town she’s ever known happens to be in those quirky little alien blow-ups she stocks at Jenny’s Random Necessities tourist shop. Everyone’s so quick to jump ship and color their world black and white and negate all the grey areas. She sees the hostility some people feel for the town’s notoriety and finds it no less frustrating than the UFO fanatics that roll into town every convention to prove extraterrestrials really exist. For Emily, Roswell is home, nothing more, and nothing less. And while, yes, its locale is a little on the weird side, she’s grateful for its character and the stability she finds in its insanity.
PB: Emily Corrie

Taken By: Pixie Queen
Name: Rosalee Harris
Age: 18
Brief History: Rosalee's family isn't exactly high top of the ladder in the town. Her mother was caught havig an affair with her father's best friend, thus sealing Rosalee's family in the depth's the 'white trash' gossip mill label. It only got worse when Rosalee's father got caught trafficking drugs and was sentenced to 5 years in jail. She lives with her half brother Issac, and he doesn't care about what she does, as long as she maintains her alf of the rent at a low end job working at the local grocery store, which she hates.
Personality: Sarcastic, Dark, Opinionated, Secretive, Witty
Roswellian Society: She thinks the town is a hailing station for the weird and mundane tourrists itching yto get a taste of something boring in their otherwise boring lives. She hates the town and resent's it highly, wishing she was somewhere else and ashe thinks the people are prime examples of idiocy for buying into the whole 'alien's' fiasco.
Relationships TBA.
PB: Sara Gilbert

Tb: Cliffy
Name: Heidi Hempfern
Age: 19
Brief History: Heidi has lived in Roswell all of her life. Her family isn't wealthy, not nearly but they managed just fine. Heidi's grand father was the town nutcase. He believed in aliens and he spent his whole life trying to find them, dooming their name for eternity. Heidi's father is a sherrif who is also heading down the role of her grand father. It seems like Heidi is the only sane one in the group. She just has a father, he's her world...they have to protect each other. Well she has to protect them all, her mother died in a car accident. Heidi works at the little restraunt that was her mother's pride and joy, her mom owned the place. She likes it there and she makes sure everything is runned to meet her mother's standards because she knows how much it met to her. Heidi is a strong girl but sometimes she puts way to much on her shoulders and it happens to be one of those times
Personality: Amiable, Demure, Open minded, Witty, Stubborn
Roswellian Society: Does she believe in aliens? Kind of sort of. She thinks it would be totally like the goverment to do, to hide something and make some big story about it. She believes there is a cover story but she doesn't know for sure if it's aliens. She also doesn't want to be tossed into the nutcases in her family. God knows her grand father and father make up for it, she doesn't want to be tossed in that either but she does believe that something out there, whether it be aliens or something else
Pb: Eva Longoria

Tb: Cliffy
Name: Wyatt Hilton
Age: 18
Brief History: Wyatt lived a normal happy life. He had no real drama in his life. He has a simple, boring kind of life. Not that's he's complaining. He lives with both of his parents and his aunt. His aunt and her son lives with them. Why do you ask? Well his aunt got kicked out of the house and she had no where else to go so her sister took her in. Wyatt doesn't mind this. It took a while for him to get use to it but now he has. Sometimes he finds it weird but it's nothing that he doesn't mind
Personality: Open minded, Sneaky, Loving, Determined, Sarcastic
Roswellian Society: The idea of something out there has always intriqued him. He's a geek like that. He enjoys things like this. A little bit way to much. He studies it. He believes there's something out there, whether it be aliens or not...he believes there's something out there and he wants to know what it is but he does think this town is a little crazy. Oh well, most places are crazy when they deal with super natural stuff...ironic isn't it
Relationships: TBA
Pb: Drew Fuller

Taken By: ShiriS
Name: Boyd Hudson
Age: 18
Breif History: In a town like Roswell, nothing is ever as it seems. That is the case for Link Dobson. Over the years, he looked like he had the best life ever. In truth, he really didn't. He had a terrible home life. His father was a drug abuser while his mother was a lazy dead beat who hit him for the hell of it. He acted like he was happy when he was out in public so people would think he was this care free person that he really wasn't. Yes he hid behind a facade because he didn't want people to find out about his home life and pity him. He hates pity. He endured his father and mother until he couldn't take it anymore. Once when he was 16, things were so bad that he said 'screw it' and he went to see a lawyer about getting empancipated. He was granted that and he's been an emancipated minor ever then.
Personality: Angry, Bitter, Cynical, Independent, Caloused
Roswellian Society: He hates the stupid town and how infamous it is. Yeah, he would have been out of town by now if it weren't for the fact that he wants to finish school. He's not going to be some bum who drops out of highschool and lives on the street with three jobs just to support himself. No, he's going to finish school then the second after graduation, he's out of New Mexico's version of hell
PB: James Franco

Taken By: In Fair Verona
Name: Nolan Krumpke
Age: Eighteen
Brief History: For Four generations the Krumpkes have inherited the small town of Roswell, and they were at one time the premier family in the region. The wealthy landowners banked success from the "UFO" story which dominates the town, however their flourishing dynasty began to fall flat when Nolan's father got his business degree and was preparing to inherit the family legacy. Instead of raising an already revered business, Ricky Krumpke decided to start his own using the Krumpke land, and brought his youthful fascination with aliens and the 1947 incident to life in an extra-terrestrial themed UFO museum. Despite the museum's success, the locals have lost their respect for the Krumpkes, who are now the laughing stock of Roswell. While Nolan's father wants him to take over the museum, his grandparents want him to sell it and earn back some reverence for their family name, but Nolan desires to do neither.
Personality: Passive, Apathetic, Perceptive, Dismissive, and Keen.
Roswellian Society: Nolan's never said if he does or does not believe in aliens, because he hasn't decided and by taking a side he feels like he'll be further implemented into Roswell's alien hype. Nolan doesn't want to get sucked into either side of the divided town, because as soon as he graduates he is going to escape it. It's not even the aliens that have tired him, it's the town itself and the people's reaction to the alien-hype, and his family and the unnecessary feuding they've sparred because of what happened in 1947. It's because of the fact that as long as you stay in Roswell you face narrow options on what to do with the rest of your life.
Relationships TBA
PB: Chris Pratt

Taken By: Shiri S
Name: Zoey Michaels
Age: 17
Brief History: Zoey Michaels is a well bread Roswellian. Her parents were part of the ritzy society so she grew up in a rich lifestyle. She wasn't spoiled though. No her parents knew how to treat her. They didn't always give her everything she wanted. Though she always took her life for granted and she didn't appreciate her parents as much as she should have. She realized that when she lost then in a car wreck when she was 11 years old. She blamed her self for a little while but she eventually got over it. She moved in with her grandparents because they were the only kin that she had around Roswell. She doesn't mind living with them. It's kinda fun.
Personality: Eccentric, Mysterious, Playful, Imaginative, Bright
Roswellian Society: Zoey is the kind of girl that has a huge imagination so she likes to pretend that aliens are real and all that jazz. It's fun. Actually, she calls her little brother an alien because he looks like one. Or what she imagines one to be like. Really, she doesn't ever want to leave Roswell. She likes how infamous it is and how much attention it gets. She fears that if she goes away from the comfort of Roswell, she'll have to actually start living in the real world. Her fantasy would won't excist anymore. The day that happens, Zoey will be very sad girl.

Name: Deena *Dee* Paxton
Age: 16
Brief History: Deena comes from a family that is half normal American family and half weird and wacky family.Deena is convinced she comes from the weird and wacky side. Her father is the normal side of the family and he works as a doctor at a small clinic while her mother is the wacky side of the family and owns a business called 'Aliens Inc' which is partly a Roswell run company and partly an online business.Yes,her mother makes alien figurines and mugs and t-shirts and even alien light up keychains when she feels like it and Deena isn't embarassed because although her mother may be wacky and odd and run a really weird themed business,Deena knows she's an original and Deena loves that about her mother.
Personality: Wacky,Eccentric,Curious,Opinionated,Unique
Roswellian Society: Deena knows there are many who hate Roswell. She knows manys kids who want to get out of there as quickly as possible and think the whole town is joke, but Deena sees more in Roswell. The town is like a huge mystery waiting to be discovered.Deena loves it.She even works part time at the local UFO museum. And when it comes to whether or not she believes in aliens, her answer is that she knows there's other life out there. She's not a crazy alien hunter, but she has faith...plus she's curious.

PB: Katy Rose

Tb: Cliffy
Name: Dercy Riley
Age: 16
Brief History: Dercy never had that easy of a life. Lived in Roswell all her life and she's probly gonna die here. Decry doesn't have much of a chance in her life. She was doomed to fail from the start. She never knew her parents do to the fact they died in a car accident when she was only 10 years old. She was sent to live her with her uncle, who did absolutely nothing for her. He lived on the bad side of town, in a run down shack he calls a house. He's also a acholic and has not much to do with Dercy. That's fine with Dercy. She learned how to raise herself and be a tough girl, she is one at that
Personality: Stand offish, Blunt, Odd, Opinated, Creative
Roswellian Society: Dercy really doesn't give a rat's behind about any of this. Of course, it intrigues her. She spends most of her time watching the Sci-Fi channel but she doesn't believe in any of that stuff. She thinks it's from someone with a high imanation...that's all. It amazes her that people are actually stupid enough to believe all this. Is Santa and the easter bunny real too...well if aliens are real...what makes the other things not real...that's a question she asks but in all honestly, she doesn't put much thought into this subject

Taken By: DreamOn777
Name:Hamilton Rivers
Age:18
Brief History:There's really nothing to Hamilton's family and that's not a good thing for him.He would rather that they were interesting or even alittle dramatic so he'd have some inspiration to write something based on his life. His mother is the classic stay at home mom who takes care of his two younger sisters who are twins. She's nice, but not too nice. She's mean, but not too mean. His dad is a lawyer and works hard.Hamilton sees him at night only.He doesn't really know his dad all that well, but there's really not much to know. His dad loves his mom.His mom loves his dad. They're not too repulsive, but not too cold. His twin sisters,Phoebe and Lola, are five. They're not obnoxiously cute like the kids on 7th Heaven, but they're not little rebels bound for Igby Goes Down.He loves them, but they're really not interesting at all.So to sum it up,Hamilton may be the most interesting part of his family. And that frankly scares him.Now you know why he chooses not to spend his free time at home. It's so boring there that he can barely keep his eyes open at the dinner table.Scary.
Personality:Unpredictable,Observant,Talented,Intelligent,Patient,Matue
Roswellian Society:He doesn't find it stupid or completely boring. It's actually kind of funny to see the tourists get all obsessed with the alien cr!p.Very good material for his next screenplay. He wants to get out of there as soon as school ends though. It just isn't right to stay in Roswell too long.He sees the adults around him and many of them have gotten sucked in.He doesn't want to be the old guy running the UFO Museum drinking the same coffee from the same place he's gone to for fifty years. That would be the worst future imaginable. He'd rather be a bum living in a box.
PB:Gael Garcia Bernard

Taken By: LaurieLaur
Name: Hailey Ryder
Age: Seventeen
Brief History: If you thought that the Camdens from 7th Heaven would never exist in the real world, then you never spent any time with the Ryder family. Squeaky clean to the point that it’s disgusting, Reverend Dean Ryder married his high school sweetheart Lucy, with whom he would raise five wholesome kids. Attending church every Sunday and participating in every teen youth function, Hailey is expected to wear her WWJD bracelet and always take the righteous path. Hailey’s parents are very unaware when it comes to their daughter’s real shenanigans and the fact of the matter is that more than a few individuals who live in Roswell can brag about nailing the “Preachers Daughter”.
Personality: Secretive, Alluring, Pseudo-Innocent, Mature & Playful
Roswellian Society: Hailey genuinely revels in the quirkiness that is Roswell, New Mexico. Unlike many Levittown sort of places, Roswell isn’t a boring suburb that has no interesting stories to tell. Sure, the stories often include little green men but it’s better than nothing. The fact that everyone else seems to take the character of the town for granted has made Hailey even more attached to it over the years.
PB: Alexa Havins

Taken By: *Sarahrooie*
Name: Jonah Thorton
Age: Seventeen
Brief History: The Thortons have roots in Roswell, roots that can be traced back almost to the town's founding. Generations of Thortons grew up in the sleepy little desert town. And it would take more than rumors of aliens to budge them. And so the Thortons simply adapted, embracing the life of the new Roswellian. This was the world that Jonah was bought into, a very family orientated world, where it's considered completely normal to live three doors down from your sister and across the road from your father.
Personality: Introverted, meditative, detached, observant, hostile.
Roswellian Society: There is a small tin box hidden under Jonah's bed. It's unlabelled, but if he had been stupid enough to attempt to inform his snooping mother about the content, neatly printed on the box would be 'Get out of Roswell fund.' Jonah has pocketed almost every dime that he has made since the age of seven in an attempt to escape. The official reason for this does link to Roswell. Jonah scowls at tourists and despise the fact that he can get almost any product with a smiling green (or sometimes grey) face looking back at him. But in reality whatever small town Jonah could have been born into, he would probably be scratching to get out of.
