Into the Black - A Firefly/Serenity rp

This firefly based rp is set after the series but before the movie. You can play any character from the series, but there will also be a sister-ship that's captain was in the war with Mal and Zoe.

Firefly
The good ship Serenity and crew are working on a new job. A job involving stealing a lot of earth-that-was artifacts from an auction before they are sold and then selling them black market. Its suppose to be a big pay off, but they are still in the gathering information stage. At this point, Shepherd Book has just left the ship. Mal has recently came into contact with an old war buddy of his and Zoe's. That brings us to the other crew in this roleplay...

The Betty
The Betty is seen to everyone around it as a slave ship, as thats exactly what the crew wants you to think. The truth is they are just the opposite. A rag-tag gang that includes some former slaves themselves, the group on the Betty actually go in and bust out groups of slaves and take them to free planets. They also steal from the rich while they're at it. The Betty is a Zeta class ship that has a old fashion painting on the side of a 1940's style pin-up that someone probably saw in a old drawing. The captain of the ship, was in training and a browncoat with Zoe and Mal and sometimes the two crews meet up. The Betty has taken on a few new members since their last meeting with the Serenity.

Personality/History: Gar was once a gambler and a drunk, but when he joined the browncoats it was his chance to stand up and clean up. After the war he cleaned up and he found out that one of his best friends and her family had been taken into slavery, he took the cause into his heart and won the Betty in a card game. He passes it off as a slave ship but really they use the ship to rescue to slaves on various planets. He is a strong captain and a good leader.

Name: Cyrus Hart
Age: 39
Occupation: First Mate on the Betty
Personality/History: Cyrus is a serious guy, about everything. When he does something he never does it halfway. When the captain found him, he was a 20 something year old escaped slave. He was passionate about freedom, since he had been born into slavery, and he is part of the reason the Betty ended up being a slave rescue ship. He had to leave his family on a free planet once he had went back for them. He had to keep helping others experience freedom. Cyrus is known for getting himself into trouble when they go on planetside for R&R. He has almost gotten married twice, joined three cults, and been in too many drunk fights to count. Like I was said, he never does anything halfway.

Occupation: Pilot, The Betty
History/Personality: Put him behind and consol and he'll make'r glide. A natural pilot. A smooth opertator, not just with the ships. This being so true that if he wasn't flying he could be found , 'under the covers'. Why bother settling down? It's not like he can find anyone serious with the life they all lead? there had been at one time , a possible... but that didn't pan out . It ended badly when he went off to fight in the war for their freedom. She thought the opposite he did, she trusted the alliance through and through and took Jake as a traitor . He of course was far from that, he was loyal through and through type of man. Even though he's got that macho thing and no mush one the outside this facade was more like a set up .

Personality/History: Juna isn't even Juna's real name. She doesn't know what her birth name was. She was found by a slaver in their fields, about a year ago, and was rescued by the Betty crew. She was a natural at fighting and using weapons so they made her a name and decided to use her aboard the ship. Certain warning signs, usually during the night hours appear - twitching of her arms and legs and Juna goes into aggressive fits and has to be locked in her quarters. They keep the guns locked down just in case. She doesn't know what her past has hidden behind the door, but she does know that the last time she was locked in her room she has a vivid memory of someone making a boot scuttle across the floor to her hand. She has kept this strange happening a secret from the betty crew, afraid that they would kick her out. She also hasn't told anyone that she noticed scars on her scalp through her hair. Whatever happened to her wasn't pretty. She isn't very open or talkative most of the time, likes to keep to herself.

History / Personality: No family , but a long lost sister - sold to slavery not by her family though. They were orphaned and they took her away and he vowed to never give up looking for her . he would find her. He was more then good with firearms and other various of weapons call him this centurary's MacGyver. Give him pretty much anything and he'd make do . Keeps to himself mostly. Loyal of the crew , who he considers friends but he keeps that too himself too. Would do anything for them and they woudl him. He knows this , that they would do anythign to help him find his sister , like they were searching for their own.

History/Personality: A browncoat from the start. He believes in freedom and equality. There is no place he rather be then helping those who see's equality of man. The pilot of The Betty is his best friend they decided to do this together, but engines are more his thing, he's just fine being third in line so to speak. Jarvis is over protective , that's putting it mildly. Don't double cross him or those he cares for. Once the inner circle is crossed , it's not easy getting back out . ( Would have to be some doozy for him to 'kick to the curb' ). When he met Reenie, he couldn't help but feel drawn -an instant connection. She told him her story and he invited ( encourged , friendly directed ) her to come with them. It's a good thing they were dockin' before he went and learned that frackin' goshi a thing or two.....

She pretty much never kept her opinions to her self and never afraid to stand for what she believes in -it's what got her in trouble in the first place. her own person, comfortable in her own skin but not the overly vain and rub it in 'er face kind . ( Another beautiful and doesn't know it sort ). She met up with the crew of The Betty on a freelance mission of her own, helping out the less fortunate with their medical needs. It ( The Betty ) was the next right move for her.

Personality/History: Reenie was engaged to marry Frederick Howard, the richest man on her planet, he was thirty years her senior and had been rumored to have beaten his first wife to death when she defied him once. Reenie went into town one day with the lead man from her father's farm. She saw a man she had never seen before and was fascinated by him. He was one of the crew members from the Betty. They ended up talking and when she confided in him the plight she was, he told her the truth about the ship he was on, and told her to come and run away with them, instead of face the marriage that lay before her. She has just been brought aboard the betty.

Her father died leaving her in the cruel hands of her selfish step mother. her debts too high to catch up and it's not like she was willing to work herself . She made Micheala work and give her the earnings. Then one day she met a slave trader and he was looking for just somoen like Micheala , the woman sold her step daughter to the highest bidder and she even had money left over to spoil herself. The cruel woman never looked back. meanwhile Mike was left cleaning some rich alliance owner's house and who knows what else. She was only 17 at the time. Then one day Edgar the Cap'n of the Betty came in and swooped in rescuing her , he was her knight in shining armour - literally ( well minus the armour).

He ran up a debt at the companion's guild and they were going to put him in debters prision unless he offered something in trade. So he gave them his thirteen year old daughter, Alizza. She was stunning even at a young age. With an easy mind, much easier than it should have been, her father sold his sold only child to pay his debt. She never saw him again. She is a successful companion, very high class. She doesn't like to stay in one place too long, and is moving around alot of the time from planet to planet, city to city. She was in the guild around the same time Inara was, and they were friends, they still keep in touch when they can.

He likes sticking it to the alliance anyway he can. He's a good hacker, and has various ears in high and low places.

Personality/History: Has been looking out for herself since she was a little girl. Her mother wasn't the maternal type, only kind of nursing that woman ever did was if it was the bottle . Her Alliance run uncle pretty much is the only thing that kept them out of pure squallar. He took her in , so she'd learn the ways she should live. The Alliance way, what ever they wanted is whatever they got. Once she was old enough she ran his house hold , the duties of a well bred lady should - organising the parties and the dinners , and 'chairity ' ( the alliance run kind , if you weren't with them then those didn't get the help , in the long run it still meant they helped to help themselves ). Alondra didn't see eye to eye on that or anything the Alliance did for that matter . She'd do whatever she could to make sure they get torn down , even if it's brick by brick. Every bit counts, right? This is what led her to gathering intel and even weapons, rashins and medical supplies , coin here and there whatever helped , for Brand ( she met him through her uncle and the events she organized and attended for the Alliance ) and The Betty.

Starting Info.
The Betty crew are docked on a planet called Lusum 2. It is a slaving planet and they are taking in new people, but also supplies. The crew is doing about tasks or exploring the planet.

Gar
Gar went back to the quarters where the passenger's stayed and knocked lightly at Mike's door. He wanted to make sure she knew to stay close. Just in case. He had a soft spot for the pretty former slave and he didn't want her getting nabbed back up and them having to go in guns blazing - if they could help it.
He waited at the door. He knew that Mike saw him as some hero but he never would. He knew a lot of the slaves they saved were grateful to them but that didn't make them hero's. That just meant they were fixing the screw ups the alliance was letting go down.

He walked into the medlab, blood on his arm, his lips pulled back in pain.
"Silver. I was boarding some gorram boxes and one slipped and the wood split and cut me...I'd appreicate some of your fancy help."
He said half teasing.He had his hand half over the cut in his arm, blood visible.

Juna
Juna sat in the loading dock, cleaning one of her guns. She spotted Jackson. He was one of the few people she talked to more than a word or two here. The other one was Gar, he was the captain afterall. She looked at him and nodded.
"Not going planetside?"
She asked him. Silver and Gar were the only ones that knew that Juna had scars all over her scalp where someone had obviously opened up her melon, she didn't want everyone else pitying her or being afraid of her. They already worried. When she got the way she did, Gar told everyone that Juna had been in the war and it was stress because of it, but Juna didn't know if she had been in the war or not.

Reenie sat in the kitchen/dining room area. She looked up and saw Jarvis enter.
"Hi."
She said with a small smile.
"Gar said you might need to go into town to get some parts for the Betty, do you want me to go with you?"
Reenie asked him. She felt something for Jarvis that was for sure but she wasn't sure how to process it.

Alizza
She had a room in a companion house, she was planning on leaving the planet soon though. She was growing tired of serving the posh sons of slave owners. Alizza looked at the database on her next client. Jakob Morgan, a pilot on a slave ship. Everyone was of loose morals around here. Oh well, she wasn't looking for a match just a client. She took the information off the screen and heard a knock at the door. She walked to it, in her fine dress with her hair long. She opened the door and looked at the man on the other side. He was attractive. He didn't need a companion because he couldn't get a woman on his own , he obviously just wanted the best.
"Mr. Morgan?"
She asked.

He sat in his headquarter which was by no means small or shabby. He was expecting one of his informants any minute now. The beautiful Alondra Fehr. She was one of the more useful of his informants. She not only got him information but the information sometimes lead to get weapons and the like with the use of some of the crews out their in the verse that helped him. He got up from a row of computers and walked to his bar and poured two glasses of whiskey. He took a sip of his, waiting for the knock at the door.

They were hereos to those they helped , whether they wanted to be or not.
She sat on the bed , brushing her hair. It was the one thing that always calmed her, helped her relax. The one thing they or no one really could take away from her, those few minutes of 'solitude' . It was what took her away from everything , this one was much better then the other one , where she just closed her mind off all together and everything just went dark. That was just her leaving her body momentarily .
Her head turned a little towards the door , still a little somewhat jumpy, she went to the door and opened it a little crack. Gar, was standing on the other side of it . A small smile and she opened the door the rest of the way , brush still in her other hand.
" Ni hoa"
She greeted. There was a part of her that rather stay on the boat , but then again she never got to see much of anything or anywhere for that matter unless her 'master' allowed it. And that was always trips that were well not pleasent for her , ( as if being stuck in his house, not just to clean, was any better )she rather not discuss the details. In a few words , he liked to 'share'.
" Time to go already? I'm sorry , I .. "
She was searching for the right form of apology , being used to it . It was habit to take full blame for anything. It was never any of the higher classes , they were too perfect for that . Goshi. They tried to bred that into her but somehow it didn't sink all the way. Now when it came to her owner it was almost if she still spoke kind words of him. Even though she was extremely happy to get out of ther and relieved . Her body even liked that certain neglect. She still craved comfort yes , who wouldn't but the other she was relieved that she didn't have 'leave her body ' because when she did that it left her still feeling very unclean and sore after. Did every woman have to go through that? Was that what it always was like ? Must not really be, for the men on this ship seemed not to take whomever without some form of consent. Odd.

Silver
She looked up from reorganizing the cabinet , checking what they needed restocked and making room incase they got some of what they really could use as well. She set the bottle in her hand down and moved to the examining chair.
" Come, let me take a look. "
She moved to the small sink to was her hands. Then walked back over to him, getting a cloth and some sterile bandages incase it was needed. One hand took his that was covering his arm.
" Let's see what we got "

Jackson
" Nah, got guard duty . Incase some of them don't want to stretch their legs and Jake has gone a visiting."
He smirked. That guy was a character but he sure did know how to steer a ship, some fancy tricks at that too. Got them out of some deep go shi more often then not. They all had to take turns whether they liked it or not really. Besides the captain himself. He always went planetside.
"You?"

Jarvis
He returned her smile with that sweet one of his . He really couldn' t help it when he saw her.
" sure"
He said honestly but in the fewest words possible. No need to put a bazillon words in there when it was suffice for one. But he did find him talkign a lot more around her.

Jakob
Now wasn't she a sight for sore eyes. What a beautiful woman. She really was the most beautiful he was sure and just the right amount of .... let's just say she had a mighty find body too. He wasn't sure he wanted to blink. He smiled, one of his charming smiles .
" Jake, please. Miss Alizza "
He still stood outside her door though, waiting to be invited in. Now, Jake wasn't here just to get laid.... there was actually another reason behind it. He'd ask the right questions, randomly of course as not to seem suspicious just incase this was the wrong companion they needed. If he thought it was the right one , then he'd make her an offer . He Gar and Jarvis had a plan and of course Jake being , well Jake would be the one to set it in motion. Er... pun intended , err no , no pun really intended. Just put it however gorram way wanted either or it was him who was the right one .

Alondra
The woman turned heads where ever she' d go. Sometimes it's exactly what she wanted so she'd dress that part. This time though, she didn't want that , well not that she'd show up to Brands looking the worst she'd ever been on the contrary. Lonnie did however play it down, went low key. A simple dress and riding boots to hide those long long long legs of hers that made most men drool. An umbrella for shade, most would presume but it helped with the down play actually. Once out of site , she folded the umbrella and ducked in an alley of sorts and then came out the other side and then down aways before she got to where she needed to be. She knocked three times . He'd know it was her by this. She waited .

"No, no Mike."
He said shaking his head quickly. When he saw the way she looked at sometimes, it made him like he could be the man she saw him as.
"I wanted to tell you that we're on Lusum 2, its a slaving planet so we're taking more...eh...passengers, like you, I'd like you to try and be an example for them if you can. He removed his hand. There was a small piece of wood sticking out of the wound, he grinded his teeth together. He looked at her, she was so gentle in her bedside manner.
"I think we might need to go into town and get more supplies for you, I have a feeling about this planet."
His feeling said that the slaves they would rescue would probably need a good bit of medicial attention.

Juna
"Sitting. Thinking. Cleaning."
She said, pointing to the handgun in her hand and then put it in her holster and stood up.
"Why don't you go 'visiting'?
She asked raising an eyebrow.
"Your an attractive guy, you could probably get some tail for free actually. Hell, he probably could too, don't why he inists on blowing good money."
She shook her head.

Reenie
She nodded and stood up.
"Do you want to walk or should we talk the hover?"
She asked, not knowing how far it was. She was in a nice dress. She had a trunk full of things she had taken with her, in her quarters. Reenie looked at Jarvis. Her heart skipped a beat. He was her hero, her savior and he didn't know how special he was. She might even be dead by now if she had stayed.
"Thank you."
She said softly.
"I don't think I ever really said it. Thank you for getting Gar to let me come."

Alizza
"Come in, Jake."
She said formally and nodded. When he stepped inside, she closed the door behind him.
"Would you like something to eat or drink?"
She asked.
"I have a variety of drinks, hot tea, whiskey, and the like."
She offered.

She actually sighed in relief. Not that he wasn't pleasing to the eye. He was . It's just well , it was good that she didn't have to keep company to any man on this ship or woman for that matter. they really were there to help. They treated her better even like she was real and not just for them to play with or serve them or clean even.

He walked over and opened the door.
"Right on time."
He said and ushered her in. He closed and locked the door.
"Come have a drink."
He said casually and walked back to the bar and held out the drink he had already poured for her.

Gar
"Yeah. I think you can."
He said with a smile.
"You need to regain confidence in yourself, Mike."
He told her.

She walked inside and towards the bar .
"Xie Xie "
She thanks him as she takes the drink he offers , fingers touching lightly as she did. She brings the glass to her lips and takes a slow drink , looking at him over the rim of the glass.
" I have a present "
She smirks taking a small data chip from beneath the top of her dress between her bra.
" Thorough details of the next shipment and their faces and where they are supposed to be auctioned"
She took another drink. Of course that's not all she brought, the rest just wasn't physical evidence. Only verbal information.

Mike
She smiled shyly as she fiddled with the brush in her hands. Did she even ever really have confidence? It was so long ago she could barely rremember .

She was determined not to , she'd help out and at least she knew what they had gone through and still are . No one else really could but someone that went through it too.

Silver
She looked at him as he looked at her , their eyes caught. It was hard to tear away from them for a few moments. Then remembered there was someting she aught to be doing , tending to his wound. She moved just slighty , reaching for the tweezers .

Didn't all doctors say that? And they meant the oposit. She took it out as gently as she could and then put the tool down and took the cleaning gauze and cleaned it up.

Jarvis
" Let's take the hover in case"
Then he took her in a little more then he should have. Dang girl looked good.
" You look shinny . You not planning on pickin' up a stray are ya "
He teased with a wink.

She really didn't have to , he'd do it again in a heart beat.

Jake
" Beer?"
Hey she was offerin' whatever. He raised a brow.
" Real food?"
He had to ask. He had a hankerin' for real anythng then those rashin' packs. Especially a good ol' ham sandwhich , simple yet more delicious then anything he had in long while. He'd sit down when she offered , slouching gettting comfortable, his arm drapped over the back of the little couch she had. Almost fit all of him , maybe that's because she 'll sit in hsi lap. Duh, of course he's gonna think like that. It's not all business.

Jackson
He raised a brow.
" I can, can I "
It was't really a question , he grinned . Hey who didn't like hearing that they're attractive . Jackson didn't know about the extra bit of business he just thought he was gonna get him some .
" It's his money "
He shrugs .

He took it and walked it over to his computer and hid it in a drawer cranny. Then he walked back.
"You like to remind me why you are the best, don't you?"

Gar
"You okay?"
He asked.
"If you don't feel up to it. It's okay,we'd all understand. I just thought you'd want to."
He told her.
"Its your choice."

He stringed out a loud line of cuss words in chinese.
"Woman!"
He said finally. He moved out of her touch, afraid she was gonna touch his wound again.
"That did not hurt a little. You need to learn what a little means!"

Reenie
"I am a stray."
She chuckled.
"But you took me in."
Reenie said with a smile.

Alizza
"Yes and yes."
She got him a cold beer and came up with a plate with several foods on it and set it on a end table for him. She looked at him and then turned and got herself some hot tea, pouring it into the teacup and bringing it to her lips delicately.
"So what brings you to Lusum 2, Jake?"
She asked, faking ignorance, she already knew that he was a pilot on a slaver ship so they were likely bringing people or taking people. She disliked the slave trade because she was in her way sold into slavery but there was nothing she could do about it, she was one person - a companion.

Juna
"So...what do you think about this girl Jarvis brought on board?"
Juna was naturally suspicious and didn't let up until she was sure about someone.
"I don't know if Gar should have been so easy about Jarvis spilling the ship's secret."
She sighed.
