Role Playing - Moving On | Serenity/Firefly w. possible MYOC

Since no one seems to know Serenity or Firefly, I’m going to give descriptions of the characters so that even people who’ve never seen Serenity can RP it. Unlike in my other Serenity based RP‘s, Wash will still have died leaving the crew, but especially Zoe, to grieve.

After the Earth was used up, we found a new solar system and hundreds of new Earths were terra formed and colonized. The central planets formed the Alliance and decided all the planets had to join under their rule. There was some disagreement on that point. After the War, many of the Independents who had fought and lost drifted to the edges of the system, far from Alliance control. Out here, people struggled to get by with the most basic technologies; a ship would bring you work, a gun would help you keep it. A captain's goal was simple: find a crew, find a job, keep flying.

The Characters

Captain Malcolm Reynolds (cliffy spuffy dreamer) was one of the holdouts on the losing side of the great War for Unification, where the Alliance sought to bring the outer rim planets under its control. He hasn’t lost his moral compass completely. He has just given up on the idea of the decency of human nature. Or that anything is worth fighting for, except the next meal and the people around him. As empty as he is, as hard as he is, he desperately clings to and protects what makes him whole, which is the ship and everyone on it.

Zoe Alleyne (cryurname) fought by Mal’s side in more than a dozen campaigns, including their planet’s final battle for independence against the Alliance. She was the only other member of the 57th to survive the bloody fight for Serenity Valley. She is a killer and is completely loyal to Mal.

Kaylee Frye, (Broadways Buffy) a scrappy farm-girl with a genius for machines, is the ship’s engineer and mechanic. She believes that life is decent. She loves machines. She thinks that’s a great life.

Jayne Cobb (cliffy spuffy dreamer) is all muscle. Jayne is big and self-interested. He’s not from the war. He shoots people because he gets paid. He is not somebody you necessarily want at your back in a firefight because if the other guy’s paying more, he might be a little closer to your back than you want.

Inara Serra (xocourtneyxo) is a ‘companion’ meaning that she is a high class prostitute. She is very calm and collected, but her words are a most powerful weapon. Usually only Mal can make her angry.

Simon Tam (Jezebel In Hell) is the doctor aboard Serenity, patching up Mal’s crew after every battle they get in. Kaylee and he are both attracted to one another. The most important relationship to him, though, is the one he has with his sister. He gave up a promising career in medicine to save River from the Alliance’s experiments.

River Tam, (Jezebel In Hell) a natural telepath, River spent years subjected to experiments in an Alliance lab that left her forever altered, possibly even dangerous. Because she was exposed to some of the more influential members of the alliance’s thoughts she found out about a dark secret that holds the Alliance together. By experimenting with some sort of chemical agent, the Alliance created Reavers - creatures who are violent and without conscience who plague the outer planets with their presence. The experiments have left River insane with only few moments of lucidity.

Rules and Notes
Once the main characters are taken I will allow a few MYOC’s to enter the scene.
You must make each post at least two lines in length.
You must use proper grammar and spelling.

I just saw the movie today. I loved it. I'm so joining this

umm..taking Mal. Hope I can do him his justice. He is one of my fave chars from the movie along with River and Jayne

Zoe lay in her bed aboard the ship Serenity. Normally, she would be getting up in ten minutes and she planned to stick to normal. But things weren't. She climbed out of bed and started to get dressed. As she put a black shirt on, she felt a twinge of pain in her back. Reaver had sliced her open good. It would take a while for the pain to go away; for the physical pain to go away. The pain in her heart...that would never leave her. She wasn't going to cry; she didn't do that. She was going to keep moving. Wash was gone, and there was nothing she could do about it.

Zoe finished getting dressed and put her guns in their holsters. She headed for the kitchen to get some breakfast.

Simon

Battle took a lot out of a person. Simon was lethargic and a little numb emotionally. He wasn’t particularly close to Wash, but he mourned his death. It could have been anyone in that seat. He could have died. River could have died. Anybody could have bitten the bullet and that bothered him. He’d seen plenty of grisly injuries, but death still bothered him.

He practically had to drag himself out of bed and into the kitchen. Zoe, it seemed, had beaten him to it.

“Morning,” Simon smiled not because he was cheerful but in an attempt to be sympathetic. Zoe was a hard personality. It was only when she was with Wash that she showed any signs of vulnerability. He imagined that they would be seeing the hard-Zoe more often because of the tragic events.

Malcolm
The last thing that I wanted to do was get up right now. I wanted to sleep and not wake up. I just wanted to forget everything for a while. I wanted someone else to take over the big dirty job for me but I knew that wasn't going to happen. I knew it would be waiting for me. I also knew I couldn't get much sleep. When was the last time that I actually got a good night's sleep? I don't remember. I stared at the ceiling, lost in thought. I was thinking about everything and absolutely nothing at the same time. I had a lot of things to think and not think about. I felt like I let Wash down. I was never really close to him. I didn't allow myself to be close to many people. Not to the point of them actually seeing me form connections with them or anything like that but I couldn't help but feel like I let Wash down. I should have done something. I hated feeling like this. I hated feeling like I was responsible for anything but I did. I would never admit it. I would often put on just a show for the others. There was always casulities. Always. I wasn't a big fan of them. I especially wasn't fan of them if they were targeted to me. That's how I felt about them but the thought lingered in the back of my mind. I wasn't one for thinking deep thoughts either

I let out a small groan of frustration as I pulled myself into a sitting position on the cot. I shook my head, shaking the thoughts out as I got up. I started to head out of the room. I was still wearing the same outfit that I was wearing yesterday. I headed into the kitchen area and noticed that Simon and Zoe were up. I couldn't bare myself to look at Zoe just yet and see the pain that was probably evident on her face. "Sleep well?" I asked with a sort of ironic tone in my voice. I knew there cases were probably the same as mine. I didn't know why I said it. It was just something that filled the air and broke the silence...or at lease I hoped it did but I had a feeling that it just added onto it

Jayne
I could hear a commotion taking place outside from where I was. I was in the pantry searching for food. I had every intention of going back into the weapon room once I was done eating. I found a jar of penut butter in which my hand was stuck in. I paused for a second listening to the sounds outside. So it seems Zoe, Simon and Malcolm are up. I shrugged before pulling my hand out, revealing the sticky mess on it. I licked at it before opening the door and stepping out. Penut butter jar still in tact. I walked into the kitchen where the rest of them where. I couldn't help but notice the sad expressions on their face. I knew we just lost someone..Wash...but it was better him then us right. At lease we were a live. We could be thankful for that. Of course I wouldn't say that out load because I really wasn't in the mood to have my head lopped off just at the second. "We're almost out of penut butter. This is the last damn jar of penut butter we have. Someone else needs to get penut butter" I said, not really caring what I was interuppting. I eyed all 3 of them before sitting at the table, going back to my penut butter
