Living In Falmouth-a myoc rp

Living in Falmouth

In Falmouth, the past is never far behind. Named by English explorer Bartholmew Gosnold after his homeport in 1602, Falmouth has witnessed the ebb and flow of four centuries. From the Wampanoag Indians ("People of the Dawn") to courageous whaling men, from salty sea captains to Revolutionary War battles, every nook and cove of Falmouth is home to a remarkable tale.

Visit the house of Katherine Lee Bates, the author of "America the Beautiful". Stroll through Woods Hole, where patriotic residents repelled an attack by the British warship Nimrod in 1812. Walk the shore at Nobska Light, one of America's most historic and lovely lighthouses.

A journey to Falmouth is a journey through time...

Falmouth offers only one thing: everything. Falmouth residents enjoy a quality of life unlike any other place in America. It combines the tranquility of a small town with the intellectual and business opportunities of a city. There are quiet coves to explore on foot, boat, or kayak; and there are the world-class oceanographic Institutes at Woods Hole. And the cosmopolitan city of Boston is only 90 minutes away.

Best of all, of course, are the people. There are places in America where people still know their neighbors, and where strangers smile and say hello; Falmouth is one of them. World-class healthcare is available at Falmouth Hospital and Cape Cod Hospital. The public school system is a shining example of success, with 83% of students pursuing higher education.

Falmouth is a good place to work, a good place to relax, and the perfect place to live.

-----

Falmouth is one of the small, beautiful towns you can find on Cape Cod. The Cape is one of the most popular vacation areas in New England. With its beautiful beaches, friendly people, and not to mention the atmosphere you could find only in a show such as Gilmore Girls, Falmouth is the place to go if you are just looking to spend some quality time with your family, meet some new friends, or spend a romantic weekend away with your significant Other. Falmouth is a place for everyone and has everything you could imagine. For visitors and residents.

A small town that to some, may seem like a little slice of heaven. Everywhere you go is another stranger smiling and waving at you, it is impossible to visit a town as beautiful as Falmouth and not have the sudden need to smile all the time. The beautiful sandy beaches, the cool ocean air, the smell of salt...what is there not to love?

Sure for the visitors there is nothing better then waking up in the morning in that nice comfortable hotel room you paid for, and taking a deep breath of the fresh salty air, walking down to the lobby to be greeted with a complimentary breakfast by the wonderful staff with smiles plastered on their face so huge that you know it just must be killing them.

The staff. The residents. The Locals, not too many visitors even consider to think about them, to ask how they like living in such a beautiful, tourist attracted town, no one even considered how it must feel to have to work daily for ends meat, or how it felt to attend school while living in a beach house year round knowing just one bad storm and your house could wash away, having to deal with the occassional nasty tourist..no one even stops to wonder..what is it REALLY like...Living in Falmouth? Is it as heavenly as it is to visit? Is it as much fun year round? Or is it just perfect for the summer? What is life really like in this small, well loved town?

-----

Is This The Life You've Been Craving For?

Throughout the course of the year there is only one season that is overwhemingly popular for this town, and that is the season of summer. During the rest of the year the only people you will find wandering about in awe are the fishermen, or those who yearn for the cold. Summer time is the one season when the usually small town becomes full of tourists, pictures being snapped, orders being given...the occassional drunk being rude as ever..for tourists the summer is heaven...for the reisdents...the summer is hell.

Other Junk You Should(Need To) Know:

This roleplay takes place in the real town of Falmouth right in Cape Cod, it's the start of the summer and all the tourists are finally starting to come. It's crazy around this time of the year, really tense sometimes as well. There isn't a whole lot needed to know other then of course there is a boy/girl rule as well as a tourist/resident rule. If you don't get what those mean I suggest you figure it out or watch what others do. When doing profiles you need to bold the subjects or they will not be added. That is all.

--------

Profile:

Name:please put down the first and last name and middle name in * * or " " or something like that.
Age:I'd like to keep this set to basically teenagers or college students so the age limit is from 13-23
Local Or Tourist:Are they a local,or a tourist? Simple.
Job:If they are a local then they might have a job. Maybe one of the places I lisred above or you can make up your own. There are many beaches around how about a lifeguard? Your call. If they're a tourist just don't do this section.
Personality:I beg of you please do not put one lines like "he is very friendly" because that is just wrong on so many levels. Please make them interesting. Not everyone's afraid of getting jumped by a giant gorilla in their sleep, not everyone is friendly, not everyone is mean, make them different add your own uniqueness to them put please make this section interesting, put thought into it and make it as long as you wish five sentences at LEAST as many as you wish. We want to get a good grasp on your character.
History:It's always interesting to hear how someone became the way they are. No "he grew up in a great family" because like I said before that is just boring and uninteresting and the whole point of roleplaying is to have fun and make someone really interesting and it's kind of hard to do that..when you make them have some boring life. Be creative here. Explain to us why they are the way they are, why they act how they do, how about their family situation? Do they like it? Be detialed and creative. Five sentences at least.
Opinion On The Hype:Expalin how they feel about the overwhemling hype of Falmouth. For locals, do they see what the big deal is? For tourists...same question.
Relationships:Pretty self-explanitory but please DO NOT crowd the thread asking if you can have a relationship with someone, that is what PM's are for.
Taken By:You?
Played By:who's playing them.

Here's my girl, she's open for all relationships, I'll post my guy later.

Name: Elizabeth Wheeler
Age: 20
Local Or Tourist:Local
Job:Works as a hostess at the Golden Swan.
Personality: Elizabeth still doesn't know who she really is. Even though she is 20 years old, she still hasn't discovered her purpose in life. She can visualize the person she wants to be, but is that really her? Her lack of self-knowledge causes a lack in self-esteem for Elizabeth. Whenever someone says an unkind word about her, it bothers her more than it should. She wishes she could be one of those people who know exactly who they are, and don't care what other people say or think about them, because they are confident in themselves. One reason Elizabeth is so unsure of herself, is that she hasn't had many relationships in her life. She has kissed exactly two boys, and never gone farther than that. The first one was when she was just a young teenager, and she felt guilty afterwards. The second guy..well..scarred her for life. She met him one summer, he was a tourist in town, and they hit it it off right away, and Elizabeth quickly found herself in love with this handsome, older boy. Like most fickle teenage boys, he cast her off, and crushed her heart without a second thought. She knows she deserves better than that, but he made her believe that she will never be enough for anybody. Elizabeth hopes that this summer she will become braver and more confident in herself.
History: Unlike many families these days, the Wheelers are a happy and loving family. They provided everything they could to Elizabeth and her older brother, never wanting their children to lack anything. Elizabeth grew up, loving her parents, and loving to spend time with them. She still does. One reason she has problems with some relationships, is that she didn't have much exposure to people outside of her family in her early childhood. Home is a safe haven for her. She is a sophomore in college now and has finally moved out, but only to an apartment near her childhood home. She doesn't want to be far from her parents, and although she hates to think of it, she wants to be close to them incase anything happens to them in the near future. She doesn't want to look back and regret not spending enough time with them once they're gone. Her brother lives in Tennessee, but travels around frequently, playing professional golf. Elizabeth dreams of someday working as a fashion designer. The thought of having such a glamorous job is appealing to her. One dream she also has, is to find true love. It sounds cliched, but she doesn't want to settle for someone she only feels a little bit of something for. She wants that can't live without you, passionate, can't eat, can't sleep, will do anything for that person, kind of love. She knows it's probably not gonna happen, but she can't help it, she's a dreamer.
Opinion On The Hype:Elizabeth understands why so many tourists are attracted to the area. She loves living there. She loves the atmosphere, and the feeling you get just being here. She also doesn't mind having the swarms of tourists every summer, it's refreshing to meet new people.

One down, three more to go.

Name: Raleigh Leicester
Age: Eighteen
Local Or Tourist: Local
Job: Waitress at Betsy’s Diner
Personality: Raleigh Leicester is an unusual name, isn’t it? Well, you can’t really blame Raleigh. It’s really her mother’s fault, being attached to where she grew up. As a youngster, her mother described her to bubbly and a happy child, but as a teenager, the bubbliest has somehow faded. I mean, who can really be bubbly twenty-four, seven, especially in a small town like Falmouth. Nowadays, Raleigh describes herself to be a cynic of the world. You see, being sarcastic can get you anywhere and having a little wit in you, can do that too. Although, Emilia disapproves of Raleigh being so moody, what more can she expects from a growing teenager trapped somewhere, she doesn’t particularly like at all? Really, not that much. As much as she doesn’t like Falmouth, Raleigh does like the simple pleasures of living in a small town. Like the fact, she walked down to the beach and sit there until the sunsets. The simple pleasures in life, really a small town can do that. Sometimes, Raleigh has been described to be stubborn, although, she hates admitting it, Raleigh knows deep down, she can get that way. She mostly blames it on genetics, hey, everyone does, since most of the time, she can see herself as her very own mother. You see, Raleigh has studied her mother closely and can see where she got most of personality. She can’t really blame her mother, but she die trying blaming her, right?
History: Rain pouring and carrying a small bundle under her arm, Emilia Leicester didn’t know where to go. Hiding under the small bridge outside Raleigh, Beaufort seem a good idea at the time, but Emilia knew she needed to provided for her young child and herself. Although, the baby was nameless at the time, Emilia had decided to name the baby girl after where she had grew up long ago and she knew that was all in the past now. She was now outcast from the place, she grew to love and breathe. Wandering on the side of the road, Emilia was eventually picked up by an old couple, heading to a nearby town named Falmouth. That was eighteen years now and Emilia has provided a safe haven for the child, she loved, Raleigh. Although, Raleigh has always been curious of where she was from originally, she knew to keep her mouth quiet, since it was painful for her mother. As much as she loves Falmouth, she knows there is probably a bigger world for her to explore, but for the time being, Raleigh knows her mother wants her to stay put in Falmouth and be happy. But, with a small town means everyone knows everything about you and really who wants everyone to know all your business?
Opinion On The Hype: Raleigh doesn’t really see what the big fuss over Falmouth. Sure, it’s a quiet, small town, but that’s all what the town really is, quiet. She doesn’t get why all the tourists think this place is so exciting. Reading a book would be more exciting than this dull, little town.

This ended up being a lot longer than I thought it would be; forgive me.

Name: June Steiner
Age: 21
Local Or Tourist: Local
Job: Waitress at the BBC
Personality: Everyone knows a June Steiner out there somewhere. Not that she's in any way stereotypical, but it is usually the edgy, witty people who tend to stick out in people's minds, and that is exactly how June is with nearly everyone she's comfortable enough with to call by first name. In a way you might call her backwards for the longer and better you know her the more likely she is to make jokes and have fun at your own expense. Hopefully you know when you are a close and personal friend of hers because more than likely she won't tell you if you are. For the most part you are expected to know how she views you, and this is pretty much based on the fact that she knows where she stands with nearly anyone who she crosses paths with. She's able to read people extremely easily especially as she gets to know them better, and for some reason she has it stuck in her subconscience that everyone else has that same ability. Luckily for everyone however it's usually her closest and most personal friends who do have that ability and for that reason are not offended if she decides to wisecrack about them. June means well, but she's not about being fake. If she's happy, angry, or just plain bored you'll know it. You can also probably tell when she distinctly doesn't like you. Not that she goes around treating everyone like they're filth, but she has a decided distaste for those social butterfly types who present themselves as perfect and petite as a Stepford Wife. She has no use for people who long for conversations about the weather and people's health.
History: Contrary to popular belief, June was not beaten or raped during her childhood. In fact, she's not even sure how that rumor was even started, but she's been having a time trying to stop it. June grew up with her mother and got next to no information even about who her father was. All that was ever said about her father was that "he was a fine gentleman". Sure, the very essence of fine when you leave a wife and child, with the presumption that the two were ever married to begin with. In fact, apart from her mother, June really has no information about her family at all. The two of them arrived in Falmouth when June was no more than three, and so no one in town knows anything either. The one thing that has always interested her is that when they first arrived June's mother, Nancy, had brought with her enough money that they were able to buy and furnish one of the historic old homes in Falmouth. Afterwards Nancy had to quickly find a job that would pay enough to feed and clothe them. Apparently Nancy had some background in elementary education, and so over several years she worked herself into a full-time teaching job. June inspired by the small town began to work on paintings that, as she got better, she would start to sell to some local gift and art shops downtown. This was her life up until her eighteenth year when, shortly after graduating, her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and stubbornly refused to see anyone about it. June watched as the cancer slowly drained her of her life until one day a year later June found her mother lifeless on her bed with an empty bottle of sleeping pills in her hand. Despite the shock and the realization that she was the last of her family as far as she knew, June took the revelation very well, and proceeded to continue on with her life taking a job at the BBC to earn more income. People often wonder why she continues to live in that big old house all by herself, but to June that's no one's business but her own, and those that know her best know not to question her on the subject.
Opinion On The Hype: Well, June can't say they're all crazy. Once upon a time, she was new to this town, and that first impression was lasting on her. Sure it gets hectic, and more than likely you'll end up hearing June complaining about it, but it's not like there's no reason for them to be here. Plus, more people usually means more buisness at the BBC. And more buisness means more tips. Whoopee!

Name: Patrick O’Connolly
Age: 22
Local Or Tourist: Local
Job: Bartender at Liam’s Irish Pub
Personality: If you’re looking for fun in Falmouth, the pub on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights is the place to go. During his night shifts, Patrick turns the quiet little pub into a place for the youthful to gather and dance the night away. Known around town as “The Surfing Bartender,” Patrick is out-going, defiant, and very self-confident. His thoughts are not of what could happen, what people think of him or how they judge him, but they're of the moment, and it's not a surprise to see him do something completely insane or wild. Like a kid addicted to sugar, Patrick is always on the move. He’s got a wicked inner child, and he just has a lust for fun and living. Patrick prides himself on his spontaneity, his playful attitude and especially his surfing ability..
History: A wind beaten shack by the ocean and an old fishing boat were the only things Patrick and his Irish immigrant father, Seamus, needed. Patrick’s mother was a wealthy American, the daughter of a politician. When Seamus came to the States, they met, fell in love, and had a child. But, unknown to his mother’s father, Seamus was a poor immigrant, with not a penny to his name. Patrick’s mother was forced to leave the baby Patrick with his father, never to be seen again. Patrick never truly understood why his mother had left, even as a teenager. His father provided a home for Patrick, though it wasn’t fancy, and it wasn’t easy. They lived day to day, as his father fished for a living, sometimes working at the pub. Somehow, through the hard times, both Patrick and Seamus stayed happy, and they always had fun together. Until Patrick turned 18, and his father decided to leave Falmouth, and retire at home in Ireland. Patrick decided to stay in Falmouth, and make a name for himself there. He fixed up the old shack on the beach with his own two hands, got a perfect job at Liam’s Irish Pub, and learned to live on his own.
Opinion On The Hype: Patrick believes that Falmouth is the best vacation spot north of Florida. It’s a quiet little town, even when it’s filled with tourists. The sun, the surf, Patrick doesn’t see how anyone could stay away. He loves his town, and welcomes the tourists with open arms.

My characters are open for any relationships.

Name:Abigail Wentworth
Age: 19
Local Or Tourist: Tourist
Personality:Abigail is a very honest, truthful person. She will never lie to anyone about anything. Not because she thinks she's this righteous person but because what's the point? She's not ashamed about anything she says and does, so why not put it out there for everyone to hear or see? Coinciding with her honesty Abby is harshly blunt. There is no filter between what she thinks and what she says. If Abby's thinking something everyone will soon know. Abigail is far from cynical, though. She does believe that the world is generally a nice place with many happy people in it, she's just not one of them. Undeniably very self-destructive and bitter, Abigail does what she wants and doesn't care about the consequences. It's her life and she'll live it whatever way she sees fit.
History: Abigail Wentworth was born into "old" money as many socialites call it. She comes from a family, that for several generations, has maintained their wealth through a textile company. When Abby was only two years old her parents went through a very public and messy divorce brought upon when her father's affair with his personal assistant became public knowledge. For four years Abby was bounced from her mother's house to her father's as they had joint custody. At age six Katherine Wentworth, Abby's mother, died in a car accident. Being so young Abby didn't really understand what was going on. All she knew was that she had to live with her father from now on. From the start Abigail wasn't your typical kid. There was a rebellious nature in her from an early age. She started hanging out with 'the wrong crowd' as her father called it. The spoiled rich kids who were no where as near as innocent as they let on. Abby was thrust into a world of sex and drugs. When most middle school kids where still having sleep overs with their best friends Abby was clubbing all night with fellow drug addicts. At fifteen, after a night of hard drinking, Abby and her friends attempted to steal a car. When the cops caught them her friends turned on her. Blaming the whole incident on Abigail. With possession of illegal narcotics added to the attempted grand theft auto charge the judge sentenced her to three years in juvenile hall. Abigail was released and served a year of probation. Now that her legal woes are over Abby hasn't stopped her self-destructive nature. She's back to where she was before juvi and Abby doesn't think anything will change that.
Opinion On The Hype: Yeah, it's a pretty place but it's way too small. She doesn't understand why anyone would want to vacation let alone live in a place so small.

Picture

Name: Nate Winsor
Age: 22
Local Or Tourist: Tourist
Personality: At first glance many people assume that Nate is mean or even a bully but in reality it's quite the opposite. Very shy and introverted Nate keeps to himself a lot. He's not what you would call a social butterfly by any means. It's not that he's anti-social he just prefers reading a book or working on his songs over going to parties and getting drunk. Nate has probably best been described as the strong silent type. He's not about constant yapping, and speaking for hours with nothing of importance to say. Fairly quiet, Nate only talks when he feels he has something important to say or something he feels will add positively to a conversation.
History: Nate grew-up in a very privileged, lavish environment. His mother, Alexis Winsor, was a former supermodel and father, Darrell, is a very sought after music producer. Growing up significantly younger than the rest of his siblings Nate didn't have many friends his own age. Instead he grew up with people like The Rolling Stones and Whitney Houston as his playmates. His parents spared no expense in giving Nate a top education. During primary school he attended one of the top private schools in the state of California. As Nate got older his passion and obvious talent for music, specifically song writing, caught the eye of his choir director. With the guidance of his choir teacher Nate approached his parents with the idea of going to a performing arts school. Alexis and Darrell reluctantly agreed choosing to nurture their sons talents. Through out middle school and high school Nate attended the Performing Arts Academy of Los Angeles. It was one of the best experiences of his life. The environment was surprisingly normal with kids who didn't all come from wealthy famous people. Which up until that point in his life Nate had never been exposed to. Now 22 years old Nate has been attending Berkeley for the past four years. Summer vacations in Falmouth are a Winsor family tradition, and even though Nate doesn't live at home anymore, this summer is no different.
Opinion On The Hype: Nate understands the hype surrounding Falmouth. It's a quaint little town with a lot of outdoor activities. He likes it because of the beautiful scenery and how quiet it is. It doesn't have the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles.

Name: Sierra Digon
Age: 21
Local Or Tourist: Local
Job: Maid at the Shoreway Acres Resort Inn
Personality: Naïve and or innocent would probably be the best way to describe Sierra. Even though she's twenty-one years old Sierra has always lived a very sheltered life. Sierra grew-up in a very strict Phillipino Catholic household. Many things normal little girls got to do like go out on dates or going to sleepovers with friends Sierra never got to do. In fact, she's never even been in a real relationship and has only kissed one boy her entire life. Sierra's not at all bitter about the way she grew-up though. She knows that what her parents did was for the best. For the most part she takes everything in life in stride. Sierra is generally a very calm and mellow person. She doesn't believe in obsessing over a problem because life will work itself out if it's meant to. Sierra is a very devout believer that everything happens for a reason so there's no need to push things.
History: Both of Sierra's parents were the first generation of their families to be born in the United States. Soon after Sierra was born her parents, up until that point Agnostic, where converted by a small group of Catholic missionaries. From that point on everything Sierra did and everything that happened in the Digon house was ruled by the church. Sierra was active in the youth group at her church, she spent hours doing community service and of course attended church with her family every Sunday. Now in her early twenties Sierra still follows the bibles teachings, and still living with her parents they keep her on a pretty tight leash. She understands that she should obey her parents and the church but there's a flame burning inside of her to go out and see what the world is like outside the Catholic church.
Opinion On The Hype: Sierra completely understands the plethora of tourists that flock here every summer. It's a beautiful location with a lot of activities. She understands the allure of such a small town and understands that without the tourists this town would be nothing but a gas station and a diner.

Name: Trenton McPherson
Age: 23
Local Or Tourist: Local
Job: Cook at Betsy's Diner
Personality: Witty, goofy, and happy-go-lucky are great ways to describe Trenton McPherson. Trenton loves being the center of attention and will do anything to get a laugh out of someone. In fact he was voted class clown of his class in high school. He's always up for a good time. As long as Trenton's got his friends around him and everyone's having a good time he's happy. If you're lucky enough to be a part of Trenton's inner circle he considers you family and will do anything for you. Surprisingly Trenton is very anal when it comes to his responsibilities. When he knows he has to do something he makes sure he does it. He wants to be the guy that you can count on when you're in a bind.
History: Born to a sixteen year old mother and a notably absent father Trenton spent the first four years of his life bouncing from foster home to foster home. Never knowing any other way of life Trenton was very well adjusted. On Trenton's fifth birthday he was dropped to yet another foster home, The McPhersons. The McPhersons where an older couple who couldn't have children of their own and had been fostering kids for years. Trenton didn't think much of his new family at first. They were just like all the others, in a few months he would be sent away to live with someone else. But this time it was different. The McPhersons grew to love Trenton as their own son and on his seventh birthday officially adopted him. After Trenton's adoption he grew up as a normal kid in Falmouth. Went to school, harassed the tourists during the summer with his friends and got a job at the local diner. Trenton's never really liked the small town environment and has always wanted to move but now that his parents are elderly Trenton is sort of obligated to stay in Falmouth. Always one to take care of his responsibilities he stays and takes care of his parents. Trenton figures it's the least he could to, since The McPhersons did take him in and raise him like their own. He's happy to be able to give back to his parents but at the same time he longs to move away from Falmouth.
Opinion On The Hype:Trenton doesn't really understand the hype but maybe it's just because he lives in Falmouth. He hates that way that everyone knows about everyone else's business and how the tourists think they own the town.
