| Dusty's Vinyls-A myoc rp Dusty's Vinyls have done this many many times and i love it so here it is again. Based on Empire Records ------------------------------------- Music is the glue of the world. It holds it all together. Without this...Life...would be meaningless.-Eddie, Empire Records Dustin Hart. The name to many, well it means nothing. Until you are informed that Dustin is the same person as Dusty. The owner of one of the most popular privately owned Record Stores in the whole state of California. This store has it all. Everything from Vinyl, To Tapes, To Cds...and movies from VHS, to LAZER DISC, to DVD's. Dusty has managed to gather together all of these things over the years and managed to use them to run the very successful record store he owns. Or well...owned back in the day. Dusty's Vinyl's was opened in the late 60's, and slowly became a well known record store. At that time carrying everything from banned music, to the latest hot bands, to bootlegs. It had it all. Dusty became a household name. He was the man who single handedly saved music for those who were not known yet. He had a whole section on unknown bands, on local bands...he had it all. Until Dusty was diangoised with cancer in the mid 80's and he realized he could not close the store. So he passed it on to his son, Damein. Of course at that time Damien was only sixteen years old so he could not run a record store. As Dusty's condition slowly deteroated, Damien and his mother Carol together ran the store, as Dusty's last dying wish. Dusty died on March 12, 1989. And thus began the time that Carol herself sank into a depression. With her husband gone she felt lost and alone...and Damien walked in one night to find her dead. She had commited suicide. Damien realized he must keep the store alive to keep his parents names alive. Their dreams. And he did such a good job Dusty's is now a world known record store. Or at least..it was. Until recently. A big known record company, which name Damien refuses to say. Has since stolen most of Dusty's employee's. Dusty's is slowly sinking into bankrupcy and Damien finds himself giving up hope. How can he stand to compete against a major record store? One that has three or four stores in every country, in every state...all over the world? The store is sinking. Faster then the titanic. And Damien has given up hope. Especially since the robbery. Two days ago there was a massive raid on the store. A lot of money was stolen from the safe and registers...the money that Damien was saving to get himself out of debt with the bank, and buy back the land from the record company. And he has finally lost it. That does not mean his loyal employee's have given up hope. No they have not. Of course, none of them are aware that Damien is closing the store down in two weeks. None of them except the store manager....but as they all discover the truth...they have come to one simple conclusion. One should take into account that music candidness doesn’t necessarily imply Lindy appreciates every kind of music. She may respect your decision to spurt off the lyrics of Simple Plan’s “I’m Just a Kid” or your right to blare D12’s “My Band” loud from the bass of your car, but don’t expect her to sing along. Take over the world, maybe. Except Lindy’s far too lazy and would probably give up two days into her attempts of world domination and instead use the resources she had accumulated to order herself a pizza or something. Seriously though, given that Lindy’s going to school still, she’ll probably earn some inconsequential bachelors degree that she can use to fall back on. Lindy’s also hinted at contemplating studying law, and if you think about it, becoming a lawyer really isn’t so different from world domination. He never even thought about it because to him this store was always gonna be around. He doesnt like to think about the future as it is, so if the store does someday close..well that'll suck especially since he gave up college to work full time at this store he calls a home. He pratically gave up everything in hopes of someday being a manager. Of course if it is true and they do lose the store..he's still young he'll find something else to do. Something like maybe going to New York to become the musician he always wanted to be. He doesnt know because to him making plans is just cause for dissapointment..they lose the store..they lose it. Music Of Choice: Blake ouldn't actually define the music that he likes. While he's certain that he adores music, it does appear that this music can be written by anyone. For example there are too artists that are at this moment fighting for is attention. It's either Cursive or Emmylou Harris at this moment, two artists that very few people would link. Although his Emmylou Harris obsession is probably linked to Blake's adoration of The Flying Burrito Brothers and Gram Parsons. If it wasn't for them he's not all that certain he would have ever heard her voice, and fallen in love with it instantly. So much so that he is completely unable to see any further than the next few minutes. For that reason it's almost impossible for Blake to actually tell you what he plans to be doing in x amount of years, because he himelf has no idea. He's not even considered that there will be a future, it's just something that creeps up on him. And while she can accept modern music with a nod and a smile, to be brually honest there is probably very little in her record collection that was actually made after 1979. And that use of record has a purpose, as Audrey as refused to embrace the CD, and still lives off her record player. And oddly enough she didn't think that she'd continue her job at Dusty's, as to her it was only really supposed to be that helpful job that got her through university. But armed with some very useful degree she believes that it's very likely she will cut herself off from the job she adores and instead find herself in some dull, nine to five, office job. If eveything went to plan Aubrey would be working in music. Not actually as an artist, but producing or managing, something behind the scenes. Music Of Choice: Woody's musical taste has always been somewhat of a soft alternative. He's never been into loud (and in his opinion, obnoxious) music. Anything loud with a prominent beat has never been his sort of thing. None as entertaining but substantial nonetheless. He's a jack of all trades. Perhaps he'll take his acoustic guitar and play at coffee houses all along the west coast, or maybe even illustrate children's books, or he'll backpack Europe and then write a New York Times best-selling novel about his adventures. The latter would be the most gratifying, however, all of these would require a lot more work and destroy the treasured simplicity in his life which he gained by working at Dusty's Vinyls. Music Of Choice: Jasper Harnois doesn't like to think of herself as musically prejudiced, however there are some genres that simply won't do it for her and those that do. The energetic and lively girl would prefer a beat that she can get up and dance too. None of that slow sappy stuff, Jasper's lyrics always have to be positive as she never wants to be pulled down. Yet, somehow, not nearly as great as working in a record store and being a music nazi and telling customers what to like, er, listen to, and then getting paid for it. If he feels like it, he'll finish up his last year of college with a degree in Italian, which is sure to take him far. Like... Italy.
