Daughters of Salem: A MYOC RPG based on American Horror Story: Coven

Daughters of Salem: A MYOC RPG based on American Horror Story: Coven

Salem Town, Massachusetts, February 1692
Strange things are happening in Salem Town, Massachusetts. Two girls are having inexplicable fits, and witchcraft is the culprit. Three people are accused: Sarah Good, Sarah Osborne and Tituba, a slave belonging to Salem Town’s first ordained minister. Although two of the women deny the accusations, Tituba confesses to having been seduced by the Devil. The confession fuels a massive witch hunt in Essex County in which more than 200 people, mostly women, are accused of practicing witchcraft. Bridget Bishop is the first of the accused to be found guilty and executed. 18 more people would go on to suffer the same fate at Gallows Hill.

The Salem Witch trials were just one of many witch hunts springing up all over the country en mass. Religious sensationalism and ascribing supernatural motivations to natural calamities such as crop failure and famine resulted in mass hysteria. People who lived on the outskirts of society such as criminals, vagabonds and heretics were easy targets. The accused were often given an opportunity to prove their innocence by way of “tests.” If an accused witch strapped with cement blocks floated in water, she was obviously guilty. Predictably, many of the accused drowned.

Today, the witch hunts of the 17th century are widely believed to be the product of unfounded superstitious hysteria. The women executed on Gallows Hill are believed to be the unfortunate victims of religious fanatics and family rivalries. Most people today are skeptical of the existence and validity of witchcraft. What most people don’t know is that witches were in fact active in Salem Town. They stood by silently, evading prosecution, and concluded after the trials that their craft could never be practiced openly lest they and their kind suffer the same fate of the Gallows. They were the first daughters of Salem.

New Orleans, Louisiana, Present Day
Pembroke Academy: School for Gifted Girls appears to be, for all intents and purposes, a boarding school for exceptional young women. Unbeknownst to the rest of the world, the school is a safe haven for young women who possess supernatural abilities. The school provides a nurturing environment for young witches to develop their skills and helps to cultivate a sisterhood. Young witches cease all contact with their families once their gifts begin to surface. The coven becomes their new family, helping young witches acclimate to their new lives and protecting them from the dangers of the outside world.

And those dangers are many. The numbers of the daughters of Salem have dwindled over the years. In addition to religious persecution, witches must be wary of an organization of Witch Hunters that would hunt them down to extinction, as well as navigate the shaky truce of a rivaling voodoo culture in New Orleans. Most of all, they must be wary of each other. In every generation of witches, there is a Supreme; she is the leader and most powerful member of the Coven. There is only ever one, and as soon as one dies, a new Supreme emerges to take up the vacated mantle. With the current Supreme’s health on the decline, it is evident that a new Supreme is on the rise.

For all the dangers that exist in the outside world, sometimes the greatest danger comes from within, for what is sisterhood compared to power?

The Game: This game is inspired by American Horror Story: Coven and is centered on a female coven of witches. As such, it is very likely that this game will have more female characters than male, which is perfectly fine. People are not limited to creating students and teachers at the boarding school. They are more than welcome to play staff members, neighbors, husbands, boyfriends, witch hunters, voodoo priestesses, etc. As this is a supernatural based game, pretty much any supernatural entity is fair game. This includes, but is not limited to, ghosts, vampires, werewolves, demons, etc. There are also warlocks existing in this world (male witches), though their numbers are considerably smaller and they would operate independently outside of this particular coven. On that same note, other covens exist, witches who live independently from covens and a Council who acts in the best interest of all covens.

Rules:
1.) There is no boy/girl rule for reasons already stated. This goes for either gender, as I know there are people who prefer male characters over female, and vice versa.
2.) This is a dark, supernatural based game. Dark and supernatural things will happen.
3.) Some characters will be stronger than others, but try not to go overboard. If I feel a character is too strong, I will ask you to tone them down.

Witches:

Name: Rosemary Easton
Age: Fifty-four
Special Abilities and/or Skills: As the Supreme of her generation, Rosemary displays an aptitude for many different forms of magic, including (but not limited to): telekinesis, coercion, pyrokinesis, resurgence, transmutation, teleportation, and clairvoyance. In addition, her own inherent first gift manifested in the form of subliminal seduction.
Personality: Capricious, intrepid, frivolous, mercurial, inquisitive.
Three Life Facts:
• Rosemary was named Supreme on the eve of her thirtieth birthday. And there wasn’t a single soul bearing witness that wasn’t taken by surprise. Even gifted beyond her years, Rosemary hadn’t been a candidate in the running at any moment, up until the death of the previous Supreme. Likely this was because she’d never displayed any hint of ambition, any eagerness to show off her burgeoning abilities for all to see – rather, she was more concerned at the time with sometimes rearing her daughter and most times getting laid. A lot.
• Though far from the Worst Supreme Ever, Rosemary does not take her duties to the Salem coven particularly seriously. On the one hand, she does not needlessly squander her abilities, does not flex her power in exchange for riches, notoriety or influence, yet she pays little mind to the shrinking bloodline of American witches in favor of her own global adventures. Her own daughter she virtually abandoned at Pembroke once she came into power of her own, glad to be rid of the burden of motherhood that kept her from chasing assorted flights of fancy. In the battle for Rosemary’s attention, there wasn’t much competition between exploring an active volcano and guiding her only child through adolescence. Whatever ill effects her neglect had on Siobhan, she remains blissfully unaware.
• The combination of a decades long adventurous lifestyle and the gradual wane of her power has had a not so negligible effect on Rosemary’s mind. While her body remains in peak condition for a woman her age, Rosemary has begun displaying the beginning signs of dementia – occasional lost trains of thought, minor episodes of forgetfulness, mood changes. Fortunately, these symptoms are virtually indistinguishable from her actual personality, so she’s managed to keep it under wraps so far.

Name: Andrea *Andie* Matheson
Age: Thirty
Special Abilities and/or Skills: Lycanthrope (werewolf) & Potioncraft
Personality: Guarded, Athletic, Witty, Decisive, & Experimental
Three life facts: • Andrea's early years were an experiment in terror. Although she was aware at a young age that she was 'gifted,' having a keen insight for mixing herbs and concocting unusual mixtures in the kitchen, Andrea was never directly told she was a witch. She discovered the fact after her parents were brutally murdered by a vengeful Incubus. Andrea was fifteen when her family was taken from her as she hid under her bed. She remained in her hiding spot for days, finally emerging when two women claiming to be witches entered her home talking about Pembroke Academy. Initially, Andrea thrived at Pembroke. She became a master of potions and began dating a handsome warlock. He told her that he was a shapeshifter, but Andrea should have grown suspicious when he only turned into a 'dog' around her. Instead, she naively believed the boy was her supernatural soulmate and planned to run away with him. She snuck off of school grounds, Pembroke's magic no longer protecting her, and was led by her boyfriend straight into a werewolf ambush. Andrea was bitten and abused, left for dead, but somehow survived. Death would have been preferable to the hell she had entered. Andrea was turned into a werewolf by the pack.
• Andrea spent years traveling alone, denying the pack's calls for her to join them. She refused to feed on witches or humans. Instead, she survived off of rabbits, foxes, etc. and chained herself up before each full moon to prevent the spilling of innocent blood. For ten years Andrea lived like this. She was dirty, malnourished, and alone. Desperate for help, the broken witch/werewolf swallowed her pride and journeyed back to Pembroke in search of the coven's Supreme. As a half-breed, Andrea understood her presence could be met with a violent end, but Rosemary Easton took pity on her. She agreed to keep Andrea's ailment a secret and help her control the beast within. She also supplied her with a Potions teaching position.
• At Pembroke and in life, Andrea is known as Andie. She discarded her full name, a happier name, following her parent's untimely demise. She is very guarded and what some would call sullen. However, Andie would not define herself as negative or mean per say. She is simply realistic. Terrible things happen in life. They have already happened to her twice. Knowing this harsh truth all too well, Andie will forever be holding her breath.

Name: Elise/Eve Rickards
Age: 32
Special Abilities and/or Skills: Fear projection, Electrokinesis, & Voice Manipulation (she is a witch/demon hybrid)
Personality: Mercurial, Vivacious, Indecisive, Snarky, & Mysterious
Three Life Facts:
• Elise's mother was a witch. Her father was the infamous demon Barbas. Barbas raped her mother and due to her unfortunate conception, Elise developed multiple personality disorder at a young age. So far, only two personalities exist: Elise and Eve. Elise is a light witch full of love and life. Eve takes on the demonic traits of her father. She is self-serving and dangerous. Both sides have been at war against each other for years. Elise is in control most of the time, but lately Eve has been making her presence known more and more. It terrifies Elise, as Eve is as unpredictable as they come.
• After much debate within the coven, Elise was permitted to teach at Pembroke Academy. She is considered somewhat of a liability and has to live off campus to make sure the girls are safe at all times. Siobhan and many of the other witches at the school distrust her, knowing what Eve is capable of when in control (she has ended more than one witch's life). Elise does not fault them for taking caution with her. She even encourages it, though at times it can get lonely.
• Elise believes that her genes are tainted, which has caused her to swear off motherhood. She does not want to bring a supernatural being as damaged as she is into the world. It is too heartbreaking to even consider.

Name: Jorie Lee Womack
Age: 24
Special Abilities and/or Skills: Transmutation (the ability to transform, alter or transmute matter, energy, elements, objects, beings into anything else, either completely or partially, permanently or temporarily.
Personality: Wary, introverted, demiurgic, warm, romantic
Three Life Facts:
• Jorie Lee was an orphan, who spent a significant amount of her youth in the care of a horrifically abusive caretaker who locked her in the basement and whipped her for any slight or perceived indiscretion. Her foster parent was eventually charged for neglect, abuse and attempted murder but was released owing to family in the Louisiana Circuit court. She took her revenge by cornering her caretaker and transforming her into a tarantula which she keeps locked up in her room at Pembroke.
• Jorie Lee eventually found her way to Pembroke after attracting the notice of Supreme, Rosemary Easton while busking; using true transmutation magic to impress tourists on St. Charles Avenue.
• Jorie Lee is extremely quiet and shy, she is also very innocent. Pure as the driven snow Jorie has not even been kissed but she devours romance novels with alacrity, naively wishing she was more like the women depicted in the pages.

Name: Laurel Wood
Age:25
Special Abilities and/or Skills: Her main power is her ability to shapeshift. She can take on the appearance and voice of anyone she chooses. Of course, over the years, she's managed to make this last for longer and longer, but she can't make it last anywhere near as long she'd like (aka forever). She also has a weaker ability of telepathy.
Personality: Unaffected, Distant, Blunt, Manipulative, Analytical,
Three Life Facts:
- Laurel's beginnings were quite notorious. At the age of four, she was found in a cabin in the middle of the woods, sitting in a pile of blood, surrounded by the bodies of dead women. No one knew who her parents were or how she'd gotten there. Even more bizarre was the fact that she did not have any fingerprints....and there were no fingerprints found at the scene of the crime. The killer was never found and Laurel would never be able to remember anything from before she was found. While she never speaks of her past, the truth is that Laurel will forever be haunted by the lingering question of her lineage.
- Laurel discovered her powers at an early age. Back then, she could only shapeshift for a minute or two, but she used the ability to avoid foster care placements she didn't like. As a result, Laurel's social skills suffered. She has never known family and lacks the emotional responses most people find to be second nature. Laurel has always felt like an outsider - even at Pembroke Academy - but logically, she knows it makes sense for her to be there and so she stays. As a student, she was exceptionally gifted, despite the fact that she never showed much enthusiasm. As a teacher, she is not the most personable. Most of her students blend together. But every now and then, there's one who sticks out. Though she likes to pretend she is devoid of emotion, that one special student usually does become someone Laurel makes sure to watch out for...even if she may not ever say it outloud. As for the older witches Laurel does tend to rub some people the wrong way because of the fact that she lacks a filter and normal social sense. But she doesn't care very much. If it really bothered her, she wouldn't be hanging around.
- Perhaps growing up as a shapeshifter has only reinforced the feeling of being uncomfortable in her own skin. Somehow, when Laurel shifts into a different body, she takes on a new persona, driven by the freedom to live as someone else. Despite the moral or ethical implications, she sees no problem shifting into people she knows, but mostly, when she's feeling truly uncomfortable in her own skin, she shifts into two particular "bodies" that she has been using for years: Annalise and Jason. Laurel prefers to have sex in one of these two bodies, rather than her own. Maybe, if she really stopped to think about it, she'd realize how unhealthy it really is, but frankly, Laurel doesn't give a damn.

Name: Siobhan Easton
Age: Thirty-One
Special Abilities and/or Skills: Siobhan is an Empath and is able to both sense the emotions of others as well as influence them. When focused, her power can appear to manifest itself as a form of mind control though this is a false understanding of her power as she does not possess any form of telepathy. Siobhan also exhibits minor forms of transmutation and resurgence (specifically with lesser life forms such as animals and plants).
Personality: Reticent, Intuitive, Cautious, Astute and Benevolent.
Three Life Facts:
• It is a rare thing when a witch comes from a line of witches and given that she is one of those exceptions, it seems only fitting that Siobhan would have a rather tumultuous relationship with her mother. Despite the fact that her mother is the current Supreme, Siobhan’s mother has been largely absent from both her life and the coven. Siobhan sought out maternal substitutes within the coven when she was younger; adolescence was a trial in itself as she was practically a walking poster for “looking for love in all the wrong places.”
• Overtime she reconciled her abandonment issues, becoming independent almost to a fault. Relationships outside of the coven are few and far between, often sexually based with little emotional attachment (ironic given her “power.”) Siobhan instead focuses all her attention on her students, and perhaps overcompensating for a lack of maternal affection from her own mother, she is very doting and oft overprotective where they are concerned.
• As an Empath, Siobhan is highly sensitive when in large groups of people and thus generally avoids places where large congregations are common. Years of meditation has helped to focus her sensitivity toward others allowing her to turn on and off her power almost at will, though she still struggles with groups of people gathered in mass. Consequently, going to the mall during the holiday season is the bane of her existence.

Name: Zoey Honan
Age: 32.
Special Abilities and/or Skills: Fae powers: Longevity, Tactile Sexual Arouse, Essential Drain.
Witch powers: Telekinesis.
Undiscovered powers: Resurgence ( Witch ), Dream Walking ( Fae ).
Personality: flirty, passionate, confident, rational, talkative.
Three Life Facts: 1: With an incubus for a father and a witch for a mother, Zoey is a rare hybrid. She has yet to meet anyone out there like her. Despite that, Zoey's childhood was pretty normal. Her life only got interesting as she hit pubery and her powers began developing. It was thought for a while that she would not get powers and perhaps be a regular human but it turned out that she was just a late bloomer.
2: As soon as she began developing properly as a young woman, her father encouraged her to began exploring sex because it would keep her healthy. She was not allowed to go all the way until a certain age and when she hit that age, she got some as soon as she could and boy did it feel good! Being part succubi was pretty great in her eyes. She felt pressure to choice a side, though. Was she a dark fae or was she light fae? She chose from the very beginning to remain neutral and she remains neutral to this day.
3: Near the end of her teen years, her mother's heath began decreasing. It was nothing doctors could do, as it was caused by too much bedroom time with her incubus lover over the years. Afraid that anyone that was with her more than once would have the same fate, Zoey decided that she would never settle down with anyone. She didn't want to be the reason someone got sick like her mother. Putting her big league college plans aside, she stayed home to take care of her mother and went to a community college instead. She earned a teaching degree and began working at Pembrooke soon after. She had never pictured working at the very school she had attended but it would allow her to continue to take care of her mother so it would do.

Name: Amelia Blackfyre
Age: Eighteen
Special Abilities and/or Skills: Pyrokinesis: the ability to manipulate, control and create fire at will.
Personality: Guarded, Candid, Sullen, Fickle and Anxious.
Three Life Facts:
• Amelia is the middle of three children born to an a-typical nuclear parental unit and up until recently was underwhelming normal and easily forgotten when compared to her academic acolyte older brother and cheerleading social butterfly younger sister. She found it far more difficult to fly under the radar at school where her seeming disinterest in boys and vigorous interest in the occult was perceived as “weird” and earned her the negative attention of a small but persistent group of kids.
• Ever the late bloomer, she did not come into her power until very recently where a severe instance of hazing resulted in Amelia burning down a small coffee shop where two people suffered life-threatening third degree burns. The incident was captured on film and uploaded to youtube before it was taken down twelve hours later by an unknown group of people. Several days later, Amelia was spirited off to Pembroke.
• Amelia’s sexuality has been the source of much of her bullying, despite the fact that she has always fiercely denied alligations of being gay. If Amelia were to be fully truthful with herself and confront her own insecurities, she would realize that she is in fact attracted as much to women as she is to men, if not more so. Sorting through her confusing hormones is the least of her worries at the moment though.

Played By: Sophie Turner

Name: Kayla Hartley
Age: 17
Special Abilities and/or Skills: Kayla has been controlled and taught under a tight leash by several revolving authority figures. As such, she has the following skills
Necromancy-She's been speaking to ghosts that she referred to as her "playmates" for most of her life. She always does as they say, writes down what they tell her to and draw them sometimes. Her grandmother is a channel, but Kayla is too young to learn how to maintain control over her body while channeling a spirit.
Empathy-Kayla can feel people's pain and suffering, as well as happiness. As a result, she attaches herself too easily to people and has trouble letting go. At times, she sometimes invents them on her own.
Personality: Neurotic, detached, intellectual and quixotic. Kayla has always desperately wanted friends, but after a certain age, everyone wanted to stop playing pretend or hide and seek with her. She was always around children older than her and has no idea how to behave like a 17 year old. Because of her powers, she has a hard time being taken away from her "playmates", who offer unconditional love and acceptance for her. If you tell her she's special and promise to teach her something new, she'd learn blood magic to make you stay with her forever. When she likes someone, she can imagine how their relationship will go in her head after having met you about 3 times.
Three Life Facts:
*Kayla's obsessive need to get approval and attention has given her a tendency to try and learn the most she can, even if it means trying to secretly learn dark magic she has no business learning.
*Kayla has rarely experienced normalcy in her childhood. She kept skipping grades because of how bright she was and never had friends her age. Once her parents realized why, they chose to send her to Pembrooke instead of college. Her powers being under control matters more than her IQ.
*Kayla has a complicated relationship with men. The only man she's ever had a relationship with was a man who was supposed to be her tutor. He was much older and had an obsessive fixation towards her. When she managed to break free of him, she soon found herself pregnant. Her parents went to great lengths to hide the fact that their child had arrived from an asylum.

Name: Courtney Montaigne.
Age: Seventeen.
Special Abilities and/or Skills: Knowledgeable in spells, Aura Reading ( she can see the physical and emotional state of other people by looking at their auras ), Elemental Energy Manipulation ( she can control the five elements of the earth and use them to her advantage as needed ).
Personality: Bubbly, Cool headed, Helpful, Spontaneous, Curious.
Three Life Facts: 1: Courtney grew up never really knowing her parents. Her father had never been in the picture and her mother handed her over to her parents when she was just three. The young woman went postpartum depression after giving birth and it never went away, causing her to drop Courtney off with her parents one day and never returning. The experience left the little girl quite confused and caused her to a life long issue with abandonment. That issue has not allowed her to connect to anyone in her life for fear that they could eventually leave her just like her mother did.
2: For as long as Courtney can remember, everyone has had colors around them. Everyone she saw had a different color and it fascinated her. She never really understood what it meant or why is happened. She thought everyone could see the colors like she could. She once asked the kids in her class if they could see the colors and from then on, she was made fun of for her ability. When she went home crying about it, her grandmother sat her down and explained what was going on. Apparently, she was a witch and it was her special power. She didn't understand right away but with the help of her grandmother, she was able to hone in on her power and began using it for good.
3: Seeing auras wasn't Courtney's only power. She could also manipulate the elements of the earth. She first discovered the power when she was walking home from school one day and it began pouring down rain. She wasn't sure what happened but one second she was soaking wet and the next the sun was shining again. She began experimenting with her new power after that and had a close call one time when she played with fire. Before she could get things under control, the fire got on her arm and she was left with second degree burns. She always wears a long sleeve shirt to cover them up, even if it's really hot out. She's simply too embarrassed and prideful to show off the scar of her mistake.

Name: Emily Laferriere
Age: Eighteen
Special Abilities and/or Skills: Telekinetic,animal-oriented powers and astral projection. Emily has a familiar and grew up feeling a bond with animals. She was raised to learn old magic and dream magic was the kind she always felt connected to. Her telekinesis is fairly limited and mainly results in a trashed room after she’s been furious, crying or has a panic attack.
Personality: Introverted,curious, eccentric and rebellious.
Three Life Facts:
•Emily figured out that she didn’t like boys by 5th grade. She only had a boyfriend so her mother and her family wouldn’t ask questions.
*Emily comes from a long line of witches who live in the Bayou. Her aunt Auralia has a shop in downtown NOLA, but her mother and her grandmother are orthodox. They’re local midwives, make potions for people and specialize in love and fertility spells.
*Emily is a twin. Her mother fell in love with a man who wound up being a hunter. Her brother was embarrassed about coming from such a superstitious family and wanted to know why he never got to hear who his father was. He made a conscious choice to look up their father and moved away to live with him when they were 14. They keep in touch, but unlike her brother, Emily’s proud of being a witch. She simply wishes there was a potion to make her family live with the fact that fertility spells won’t help her have a baby someday.

Name: Kelly Huerta
Age: Twenty
Special Abilities and/or Skills: Replication/duplication. Theoretically, Kelly can create an infinite amount of physical copies of herself.
Personality: Narcissistic, derisive, intellectual, outspoken, unbalanced.
Three Life Facts:
• Just the sort of entitled, self-centered brat one would expect from an inattentive upper class household. Born and raised in Scarsdale, New York, never having known what life could possibly have been like without every single want and demand immediately met, Kelly neatly ticks the ‘rich kid’ cliché boxes. Every single one of them. The attitude, the quintessential rebellion, the naiveté and disregard to anything outside her immediate bubble – check, check, check.
• For whatever reason, Kelly chose to squander her rich white girl privilege at an early age. Her first arrest came at fifteen (cocaine possession), her second through fifth following close behind (assault, grand theft auto, more assault, breaking and entering) though thanks to the gift of high priced attorneys nothing ever left a mark on her pristine record. But it was pretty easy, defending a girl from criminal charges when there was consistently time stamped video footage from some department store or coffee shop somewhere showing she was no where near the supposed scene of the crime.
• Through some random chain of events involving a lot of drugs, a really intense and dark affair with one of her college professors and the untimely death of her mother, Kelly ended up in an inpatient psych hospital suffering from an apparent psychotic break. During a (heavily medicated) escape attempt, she wasn’t as cautious as she might’ve been and some poor orderly ended up catching her surrounded by two of her sloppy duplicates. The story was published in some tabloid of questionable repute, caught the eye of a roving witch council member, and soon after Kelly was shipped off to Pembroke. With certain tethers – an EDP label, and instituting one of the more responsible adults at the facility as ‘conservator’ for her care.

Name: Louella Lacey
Age: Eighteen
Special Abilities and/or Skills: Louella possesses the ability to breathe life back into once living things—or something resembling life. To date all she’s managed to achieve is basic reanimation in animals, and has yet to attempt anything more ambitious.
Personality: Morbid, laconic, impassive, objective, simple.
Three Life Facts:
• Given up for adoption at a young age, her parents having assumed she was ‘soft headed’ from her minimalistic speech patterns and strange obsession with dead things. Louella lived in a group home out of Atlanta, Georgia from the age of five up until she aged out of the system on her eighteenth birthday. Fortunately for her, she was never forced into stripping or living in the wild once the government couldn’t be bothered to care for her anymore – a kind hearted social worker knew exactly where she’d fit in best, after Louella brought her beloved pet goldfish back to life on a whim. Two weeks after her birthday, she was shipped off to Pembroke Academy.
• Despite appearances, Louella is of average intelligence and, if prompted, can express herself adequately enough; it is entirely her choice to feign muteness eighty percent of the time. Situations involving small talk or banal niceties are anathema to her, and she avoids them as politely as she can – by never speaking.
• Possesses an immense reptile tank, within which she keeps any and all new pets she collects from her travels. Once dead things she’s brought back to life, but are not yet fully living. Life leaves them, eventually, and she brings them back again. It’s her hope to improve upon herself enough that she can release her entirely rejuvenated pets back into the wilds she found them in. And know they won’t keel over ten minutes later.

Name: Mariah Sauber.
Age: Fifteen.
Special Abilities and/or Skills: Clairvoyance ( The ability to hear the thoughts of other people and possess a form of awareness of the future ), Telekinesis ( Physical movement of objects by thought ).
Personality: Observant, Manipulative, Quiet, Selfish, Stubborn.
Three Life Facts: 1: Though she was born of two witches, her powers didn't begin to show until she was seven years old and she saw her father's death. She didn't see it in person, but rather in her mind. Her mother didn't believe her and told her she just had an active imagination. Mariah did all she could to convince her that it needed to be looked into but nothing world and she only believe her after he was found dead, brutally murdered just as Mariah saw. Though the police never found out who did it, she knew and she decided she was going to take it to her grave.
2: In the years to come, Mariah's life changed even more. Her power of telekinesis came in full swing and her mother remarried. She didn't remarry just any man, but her uncle. Her own uncle! She was never happy with the situation and she let it be known. She actually didn't mind her uncle that much but her cousin on the other hand? She absolutely detested Shelby. It had always been like that. Her life was basically ruined now that they were step sisters. Despite their hate for each other, the girls were similar in that they both manipulate people to get their way; Mariah with her ability to read minds and Shelby with her coercion. They've been known to work together at times when they had a common goal and someone in their way. It's just about the only time they get along.
3: Due to her ability to read minds, she can often be seen with ear buds in her ears. She is still learning how to control that power and finds that this is the easiest way to not go crazy from all the voices like Buffy in that one episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer. She only has a problem with it in large crowds of people. When she's one on one with someone, she doesn't mind because she likes being able to hear if the person actually means what they're saying or if they're lying. Needless to say, it comes in handy sometimes.

Name: Mellark (Mel) Easton
Age: 15
Special Abilities and/or Skills: Molecular Immobilization (freeze time), Hydrokinesis, & Sleep induction (temporary)
Personality: Self-deprecating, Astute, Restless, Intellectual, & Vengeful
Three Life Facts:
• Mellark was raised by a Spanish family on the Canary Island of La Gomera. She knew from a young age that she was not blood related to the people offering her food and shelter, but they were nice enough and she was too young to object. Her surrogate family farmed the lower levels of the island by channelling runoff water to irrigate their vineyards and orchards. Mel hated the lifestyle and always felt that she was destined for something more than this mundane existence. At age eleven, Mel was attacked and nearly raped by a family friend. Before he could take her, Mel somehow managed to freeze the man in place. She escaped and told her 'parents' about the incident. Instead of caring for her well being, they began to call her a witch and a demon. She was just like her mother Rosemary, they said. She was evil. Mel has hated her mother for what she made her every day since.
• Mel was handed over to foster services and bounced from house to house for years. During that time, she researched witchcraft and practiced honing her skills. As she grew older, more abilities revealed themselves to her. On her fifteenth birthday Mel was visited by two women claiming to be sent by her birth mother. They said she belonged with a coven at Pembroke Academy and ushered her off to the school before she could protest. Mel arrived at Pembroke mere days ago and has yet to have contact with her mother or Headmistress half-sister. She is being kept in a dorm room alone while 'matters' are discussed, or so she was told.
• Mel has a secret that has been eating her alive over the course of four years. The night before her Spanish family sent her away, Mel snuck into the home of the man who attacked her and murdered him. She froze him in place and stabbed him repeatedly. It is a memory she cannot erase. If provoked, Mel fears she may kill again. It is why she keeps most people at a distance. It is for their own protection.

Name: Shelby Beauchamp
Age: 16
Special Abilities and/or Skills: Coercion (The imposition of one's will onto another. It can be resisted, though doing so often causes increasing intracranial pressure to the point of explosion.)
Personality: Reckless, egotistical, resourceful, short-tempered, & loyal
Three Life Facts:
• Shelby's birth mother was an infamous dark witch who lived to make enemies and, in the end, died by their hand. Her father Marcus, who had been bewitched since his youth, cursed magic and raised Shelby mortal until her ninth birthday. He watched in horror that day as his daughter used her mind to will another child into their swimming pool following a dispute over a toy. The little boy was rescued from the water but sent to a psychiatrist after insisting the 'voices in his head' made him do it. After the incident, Marcus opted to tell Shelby the truth about her magic and vowed to help her use it in the right way.
• Shelby's father remarried when she was eleven. His bride? Her aunt. Marcus had sought her out for help with Shelby after her gifts surfaced and fell for her quickly. Shelby has always resented her aunt for taking her mother's place, and equally despises her cousin/half-sister Mariah. Shelby played nice until she was sent to Pembroke Academy but it was painfully exhausting to be a 'good' witch with rules and restraints. Now, away from her father, she is free to hone her craft and use it as she sees fit. Witches, Shelby has always believed, are above other beings. Perhaps her mother was 'evil' but she was right about that. Shelby is teetering on the edge of dark and light magic and Pembroke, undoubtedly, will reveal her true nature.
• Shelby has never known love. Her mother was dead before her second birthday, and she has always felt a disconnect with her father. Shelby longs, more than anything, for a friend or partner in crime to care for and pledge her loyalty to.

Pembroke Staff/Visitors:

Name: River Easton
Age: Thirty-eight (technically)
Special Abilities and/or Skills: None to speak of, aside from apparent lack of aging.
Personality: Affable, placid, cheeky, resolute, detached.
Three Life Facts:
• Whether snatched from another time/place/plane, or birthed entirely by magic, no one can be quite sure. Not even Rosemary, who apparently ‘mothered’ him when she was sixteen, bored, lonely, and sexually frustrated. Out came a spell book, some candles, a few curious coven sisters and some goat blood, and three hours later, whatever Rosemary deemed at the time ‘the perfect boytoy’ was made. Or summoned. Or something. Thirty-eight years later, ‘River’ hasn’t left Pembroke. Or aged. Rosemary moved on from her creation about a week after his ‘birth’, when their neighborhood got a new milkman.
• Once the novelty wore off, River was basically absorbed into Pembroke as a staff member. What else could be done? Cursory efforts to find out if he was actually somebody from somewhere revealed nothing, and River himself was absolutely clueless as to anything beyond basic adult human functioning, so he wasn’t much help. Eventually even the Supreme at the time gave up, deeming it too cruel to even attempt sending him back (in case ‘back’ meant ‘back into oblivion’) and that’s when River became River Easton, Rosemary’s cute older brother who lived at Pembroke and cleaned up about the house in exchange for room and board.
• Something of a staple of Pembroke at this point – the magically youthful butler who might just be immortal. Beyond cleaning up after each new generation of witches as they come and go, River has served as a nice little motivation tool to get more than one hesitant young recruit through the door. On the surface he’s perfectly friendly, doesn’t particularly mind being objectified by a bunch of hormonal teenage girls or even the occasional teacher but beyond that he’s rather indifferent to it all. Likely because he’s nursing a serious, decades-long existential crisis.

Name: Benjamin “Ben” Abbot
Age: Died at the age of Twenty-Six; Technically 65 years old.
Special Abilities and/or Skills: Has the typical “ghostly” powers of being able to move through objects, appear and disappear at will, manipulate electromagnetic force fields, etc. Alss has the amazing and unmatched ability to sulk and broad like nobody’s business.
Personality: Obsessive, Morose, Short-Tempered, Melancholy & Petulant.
Three Life Facts:
• Born in 1948 in a tiny little suburb in California, Ben grew up with a generation of baby boomers in an age of opulence and a cookie-cutter lifestyle. Everything about the Abbots was picturesque and normal, including the second-youngest of their six children, Benjamin Abbot. Efforts to maintain the status quo and an image of normalcy were severely hindered when Ben’s younger sister came into the world. Celia began to exhibit hints of being extraordinary at a young age due to her ability to move objects with her mind. Adolescence saw her power strengthen and when her parents feared they could no longer keep their daughter’s secret under wraps, they shipped her to Pembroke Academy.
• Unable to bare the separation from his sister, Ben followed her across the country and began to study at a local college in order to stay close to her. What began as a close familial relationship grew increasingly unhealthy. At Pembroke, Celia thrived, and overtime enjoyed the freedom the coven provided her. Feeling the coven was a negative influence on his sister, and fearing he was being left behind, Ben tried to convince Celia to leave Pembroke. When she refused, he attempted to make her leave by force. The confrontation grew increasingly hostile and ended in Celia’s accidental death. Unable to live with his guilt, Ben took his own life.
• In an ironic twist of fate, Benjamin was denied an afterlife with his sister and any form of peace. For the past 39 years, he has quietly haunted his sister’s old stomping grounds, moving the occasional odd object here and there, doing just enough to make his presence felt, but never enough to warrant his expulsion. For the most part, Ben avoids any effort to make contact with the living world except in the rare instance a young witch turns up that reminds him of his beloved Celia.

Name: Magnus Angeli
Age: 2100
Special Abilities and/or Skills: Magnus is a shape shifter who has experiences and stories from his long life. Though he can turn into anything he prefers his male human form and that of a serval.
Personality: Serious, Protective, Nosey, Hedonistic, Antiquated.
Three Life Facts:
• Once belonged to Cleopatra in his youth, finds himself attracted to strong women, which is how he found his way to Pembroke.
• Magnus stalked all around the Pembroke property, marking his territory but he didn’t figure on becoming psychically bonded with a member of the coven. Now a witches familiar, Magnus is adjusting to life that doesn’t involve excessive travel.
• Magnus speaks Greek, Italian, Modern Standard Arabic, Latin and some Creole French

Others:

Name: Harper Aldon
Age: Twenty-five
Special Abilities and/or Skills: Pyschometry (Main power) : The ability to touch an object and read the enegry around it in order to get a psychic vision from its past. Energy shield (Minor) : Can create a small energy shield around herself but has never been able to extend it to another person or object. Small Wish Granting (From her parentage) : Due to her Djinn parentage she can grant small wishes to others but she has been advised to never reveal her parentage, but upon hearing the words 'I wish...' in her presence she has to fulfill it.
Personality: Intelligent. Withdrawn. Careful. Passionate. Quirky.
Three Life Facts: 1) Harper was born of a human woman being raped by a djinn (evil genie), he appeared human at first but his strength and such revealed him as more. Harper's mother was religious so she was torn between caring her baby to term or having an abortion which was a great sin to her. She decided to have the baby and when it became clear that Harper was part Djinn, she told her to hide it away and never speak of it. Needless to say her mother was overjoyed to learn she was also a witch.
2) After going to Pembroke Academy and being a bit of an introvert (because she had to live with people and yet keep a secret from them), Harper went to a local college and got her psychology degree. She lives and practices close to the Academy and from time to time is called into Pembroke to help mediate a fight, or handle a girl who is having a hard time. She has even been known to use her pyschometry to see an event that someone is having a hard time talking about or use it to settle what really happened between two girls.
3) Harper is bi-sexual and she is in a way equally attracted to both men and women, mainly because she is more attracted to someone by their intelligence and personality then their body. Since the first time she dated a female, and her mom found out the two have not spoken. As her mother, and her mother's family was all she had and now they aren't speaking to her, Harper leans on fellow witches for as much support as she's willing to let them give her.

Name: Eli Stoughton
Age: Forty-six
Special Abilities and/or Skills: In thirty some years of very ambitious witch hunting, Eli has amassed a hodgepodge of unusual skills and abilities that have, at one point or another, proven useful. A small sampling includes the following: marksmanship, tracking, lock picking, bullet casting, witch killing, child rearing, stunt driving, witch killing, and witch killing.
Personality: Charismatic, cunning, vindictive, duplicitous, meticulous.
Three Life Facts:
• Descended unironically from William Stoughton, Chief Justice of the Special Court of Oyer and Terminer – that which presided over what became known as the Salem Witch Trials. What began with William and continues through Eli is a family legacy of systematically exterminating the presence of witchcraft from the face of the earth. And when it was Eli’s turn at the reins he took them up gladly, having been groomed from a young age by his own father, and his grandfather, and all of his uncles since he was old enough to hold a gun level.
• Somewhere in between continental road trips and shooting blessed bullets from rifles, Eli went to college and acquired a degree or two in computer science and almost got married. The former being entirely planned, a useful career path for a constant traveller with no need for an office, just a laptop and a cell phone and making more than enough money to support his true career choice—but the latter was less deliberate, almost steering him off his intended path entirely. Because he genuinely loved the girl, the mother of his two boys, the gentle soul who’d never understand what he was doing wasn’t so much cold blooded murder as preserving humanity and doing the Lord’s work. (Un)fortunately, she was killed by the very creature Eli had been tracking, just three months before their intended wedding day and when Eli put five bullets in that particular witch’s head, it only reaffirmed that his family’s legacy was more important than ever.
• Raised his boys in precisely the same fashion as his father had raised him – constantly on the road, pausing in one place long enough for target practice and a lecture on the perils of witchcraft and mercy before loading up the car again and taking off. Despite his gruesome work, Eli has lived a life almost completely free of regret – but for nearly tossing everything aside for his children’s mother, and maybe possibly fucking a witch, once, without a condom. Giving life to Courtney has been a constant source of both guilt and self-hatred, because Eli knows, eventually, she’ll become dangerous enough to need eliminating.

Name: Kai Alexander
Age: 25
Special Abilities and/or Skills: In addition to being proficient with a number of different large and small firearms, Kai’s personal weapons of choice are a high carbon, silver laced throwing knives. Kai also has the ability to charm the pants off of pretty much anyone and can be quite fanatical in anything that might help him become/stay stronger (gym time, lots of ammo practice, ect.)
Personality: Sarcastic, Intuitive, Selectively Moralistic, Dependable, Seemingly Cocksure
Three Life Facts:
• Kai views most supernatural things as evil, no ifs, and’s or buts about it. This is a direct response to who he blames for his mother’s death. Though he tends to toe the line in regards to whatever his father says he has some deep seeded trust issues wrapped up in the fact that he knows of his father’s occasional occult dalliances.
• Kai is a high school dropout, but he’s far from stupid. Necessity mandated that he be free to hunt with his Dad but he managed to get his g.e.d. with little study. Unbeknownst to anyone Kai is working towards and online degree in religious studies.
• Kai actually has a very poor self image that he glosses over with flirtation, empty sex and a rapidly increasing alcohol problem.

Name: Griffin Alexander
Age: Twenty-Two
Special Abilities and/or Skills: In addition to being proficient with a number of different large and small firearms, Griffin's personal weapon of choice is a crossbow. He's also fluent in the art of sarcasm.
Personality: Attentive, Cautious, Loyal, Amiable and Empathetic.
Three Life Facts:
• Griffin’s mother was taken from him at so young an age that his only memory of her has been formed from photographs and footage recorded on a primitive recording device. The event would shape the rest of the lives of he, his older brother and his father, the latter of whom would go on to dedicate his life to hunting the coven of witches that claimed her life and their ilk.
• The Alexander boys never stayed in the same place for too long and were constantly on the road, tagging along on their father’s tour of vengeance. Eventually, when they both came of an age to understand and participate, Griffin and his brother were trained by their father to be (witch) hunters and fully adopted the lifestyle for themselves. Griffin had the more tumultuous relationship with his father of the two boys, resenting the fact that his life had been chosen for him without any thought to what he might want to do with it in the end. Their relationship remains estranged to this day.
• Griffin attempted to claim a normal life for himself when he attended a four year college program at a State College. College life proved too static for him and he quit before his second year was up, rejoining his brother on the road and in pursuit of a new coven of witches located in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Name: Morwen Abraham
Age: Twenty-five.
Special Abilities and/or Skills: Injury Transference, Intuition, Telekensis.
Personality: Sullen, Pessamistic, Short-Tempered, Strong-Willed, Brave.
Three Life Facts: 1. Morwen comes from a long line of witches dating back to the Salem Witch Trails. Because of that, she was trained from the very beginning on spells, potions, and her unique power. It was a power that her family had only heard or but not dealt with before. It first developed when Morwen was three years old. She had gotten so angry at her mother for not letting her to something that she began hurting herself and in turn, her mother began getting hurt. Until she learned to control her power, everyone did their best not to unset her because that was when it came out and people got hurt.
2. As she grew up, her episodes of hurting people began to decrease as she learned to control her power. Eventually, she was able to turn it off and on like a light switch. Never really needing to use her power, or the few others that developed over time, the years of her life going from teenage to adult were pretty normal. And she liked it that way. She liked being normal. The elders in her family urged her to proclaim who she really was, a witch, but Morwen didn't want to stand out from everyone else around her. She wanted to fit in and just be normal. She accomplished that when she was able to get move away from her family and all she knew to go to college. Oh college! What a fantastic time that was.
3. She finished college with flying colors and went onto get a good job. She began her life away from her coven as normally as she could and she loved it. She didn't keep in touch with anyone from her family very well because she didn't want to be pulled back into the coven. She thought if she stayed away from her family, she wouldn't have to deal with what she really was but a recent move to New Orleans has proved her wrong. Little did she know that it was a hub for witches and supernaturals. Right away she felt their presences as well as something darker in the air. She wasn't sure it was but it put her on edge and caused her to keep an extra eye on her youngest sister, who attended Pembrooke.

Name: Hearst Clarke
Age: Twenty-Six
Special Abilities and/or Skills: Archery, Tracking, Hunting/Gathering, & First Aid
Personality: Perceptive, Hard-working, Adaptable, Protective, & Stubborn
Three Life Facts:
• Hearst experienced an interesting, yet relatively normal childhood. His mother and father were hippies of some sort, but they loved him and raised him well. Hearst acquired his free spirit from their teachings of life as a vapor (here today, gone tomorrow). Hearst's aunt and would-have-been uncle were also a unique addition to the family unit. Hearst only saw his aunt a handful of times growing up. She was kind and unassuming, cliche even. It was her fiancé that drew attention to himself. He was always running off to 'take care of business.' Hearst rifled through his bags when he was otherwise occupied and located books on the occult. Witches, voodoo priests, werewolf's, demons, etc. All things supernatural were present. Hearst never let on that he'd seen the items, for fear of being reprimanded and because of a shared interest in the subject matter. Eli Stoughton intrigued Hearst. Hearst intended to confront his almost uncle one day, but never got the chance. Hearst's aunt was brutally murdered by a bear (according to news reports), and Eli took off with Hearst's cousins before telling the family he was meant to marry into goodbye.
• Hearst never believed a bear killed his aunt. He had two theories: Eli went mad and killed her, or there was truth to his supernatural obsession and a demon of some sort cut his aunt's life short. Hearst believed the latter. He spent his teenage years and early adulthood researching the supernatural world and visiting locations where people claimed to have run-ins with witches, vampires, etc. At age twenty-three, Hearst began to live in various woods searching for the unknown. He has encountered multiple evils since he began his hunting journey, and escaped death numerous times. Hearst thrives in his nomad lifestyle, feeling a sense of pride in extinguishing evil and protecting mankind. However, he no longer wants to do it alone. He has been searching for his uncle Eli for the last year and believes he is close to closing in on him.
• Hearst, unlike many supernatural hunters, does not believe that all magical beings come from dark magic. He has a vigilante spirit, only desiring to eliminate the demons, witches, etc. that pose a threat. Perhaps he is too kind, allowing creatures a chance to prove they are not as cruel as society assumes, but Hearst is determined to stand firm on his principles unless he can be convinced that an alternative approach is wiser to take.

Name: Sullivan *Sully* Slade
Age: 35
Special Abilities and/or Skills: A deep knowledge of the occult, a large arsenal of weapons for use against the supernatural, a near-psychotic obsession to get what he wants
Personality: Charming, obsessive, studious, determined, twisted
Three Life Facts:
- Once upon a time, Sully had a normal life - a History professor at an Ivy League university, on the tenure track, he had finally put his bachelor ways behind him and had convinced a beautiful woman, Vanessa, to marry him. Sure, things were not quite perfect. Vanessa wanted them to try for a baby and Sully couldn't imagine himself as a father. But things were fine. They were good. One night, while Sully was staying late in his office ("working" with a young student of his), he received a mysterious voicemail from Vanessa. She was in a state of panic; something had gone wrong, something having to do with witches, someone had found her, and she was fearful for her life. The next day, Vanessa was missing. The police found her body a week later, nearly burned to a crisp. They pinned the murder on an arsonist who had recently been picked up, but Sully didn't believe it. And that ended the normal life he had going for him.
- Ever since that fateful day five years ago, Sully had been obsessed with the occult, convinced his wife's murder was supernatural related. It started as side research, but completely took over his life. The university that employed him had enough when they realized where he was allotting his research grants and fired him. It didn't much matter to Sully. The more he immersed himself in the occult world, the more he began to believe in it. He has started to make a name for himself as an expert. Now, his mission is more than just to find Vanessa's killer, but to bring her back to life. A few months ago, Sully found evidence connecting Vanessa to Pembroke Academy and after managing to get a grant to do research on the occult in New Orleans, he decided to relocate. Perhaps the coven can shed some light on his wife's murder, but regardless, they WILL help him resurrect her. Sully doesn't care what he has to do to make them help him. He's done his homework and knows there are also witch hunters in town and hopes to play to both groups in order to gain some leverage.
- The five years since Vanessa's death have transformed Sully into a very twisted individual. His beliefs are so strong that he's willing to lie, steal, and kill to get what he wants. Deep down, this all stems from the tremendous guilt he feels. He self-medicates nearly everyday and makes it a practice of having "aggressive" sexual relations with very young women who look like the student he was fucking at the time of Vanessa's death, perhaps as a way of punishing himself.

Name: Julian Lindvall
Age: Twenty-Four
Special Abilities and/or Skills: Nothing unless being able to perform a kegstand for over twelve minutes while blacked-out drunk counts as a special ability.
Personality: Affable, Gregarious, Lush, Jovial and Philanthropic.
Three Life Facts:
• Julian is a victim of the never-never land syndrome of college. Six years, seven different majors, twelve semesters and one-hundred and ninety-two units later and he’s no closer to graduating from Loyola University now than he was when he first enrolled in the fall of 2007. A real life Van Wilder, if a guy knows a guy who knows a guy who can make things happen, chances are that it is Julian they’re talking about.
• Although all appearances seem to indicate Julian is nothing more than a thick-headed, drunken, lecherous, empty-headed frat boy, he actually has a large threshold for compassion. Where he has failed to commit himself to his studies or anything resembling ambitions, he is completely and utterly devoted to various programs that have been devoted to clean-up and rehabilitation in the wake of the Hurricane Katrina disaster.
• Julian is a bit of a closeted nerd, nursing several obsessions involving everything from comic book superheroes and super villains to campy science fiction television shows to epic fantasies and, you guessed it … even the supernatural. Julian is especially impressionable when it comes to supernatural reality dramas and religiously follows several paranormal investigative reality shows including, but not limited to: Ghost Hunters, Ghost Hunters: International, Paranormal State, Fact or Fact: Paranormal Files and his personal favorite, Ghost Adventures.

Name: Harrison Lux
Age: 30
Special Abilities and/or Skills: Human Voodoo Doll/Injury Transference, Green Magic/potion making
Personality: Hotshot, animated, duplicitous, charming, vengeful
Three Life Facts:
• Harrison last name is definitely not ‘Lux’ but he adopted it as he has a flair for the dramatic and a tendency to wear very fetching hats, suits, or whatever is most likely to draw attention to himself.
• Harrison’s family are all magic users, a line of blood so pure it can trace its roots back to Salem Town, on his mother’s side and a decent bloodline on his fathers. Harrison is the first male to be born from his mother’s line. He is also the seventh son of a seventh son, so there is that, too.
• Harrison has a very short fuse and is not above using his magic to inflict what he considers to be an appropriate amount of pain on anyone who wrongs him. Though he’s quick to anger, he’s also the fastest friend you’ll be likely to make, too.

I might be dooming myself in this game, given how bad I am with females and ignoring them in favor of my male characters.

Two for now. Will return shortly with pbs.

You can take two males. I'm sure there are plenty of people on these boards who prefer females, myself among them.

I'm not taking J. Law. She's all yours.

And excellent. More people.

If someone is at all interested in playing the Supreme, you'll already have a built in relationship with my character, who is her daughter.

The wiki says it's Clairvoyance and Telekenisis. I think Clairvoyance is her main since she's able to see events in the future.

I'm editing the first post with everyone's reservations now!

If anyone needs ideas as far as powers go check out this link It lists all the powers in the show, though you are certainly not limited to this list.

OOC: Please continue to save Ashley Rickards as a future PB for me.

Tentatively staking my claim on Logan Marshall Green and RDJ.

She's the Tim Burton version of Snow White.

I've updated the first post with all the profiles turned in so far. I'm still saving Cillian Murphy in case I decide to make a Witch Hunter. I'd kind of like to have other people involved in that as well so I'm not the only one, so if anyone's interested in going that route with their male character, let me know.

Also ... if anyone's interested in a creeptasticy creepy ghost creeping on one of their characters, shoot m a PM.
