| CLUE: And Then There Were None ~ PYOC ![]() An age old game. A murder most foul. The same old suspects. The Setup Indian Island was up for sale. That was the beginning of it. It was 1938. Ten Little Indians went out to dine, One choked his little self, and then there were nine. For weeks, glowing advertisements appeared about the sale of the lavish island estate, the ultra modern house built by some American millionaire as a summer yachting home and inevitably put up for public sale when his third wife discovered she was a bad sailor. Nine Little Indians sat up very late, One overslept himself, and then there were eight. Then came the sudden news. Indian Island was to be bought by a mysterious Mr. Boddy. Nothing more was given. And that's when the rumors started. Eight Little Indians vacationing in Heaven, One said he'd stay there, and then there were seven. Indian Island had really been bought by Royalty! Indian Island was now owned by a big name celebrity! Indian Island was to be the location of a newlywed's honeymoon! Indian Island would be transformed into a top secret military base! Seven Little Indians chopping up sticks, One chopped himself in halves, and then there were six. Little besides speculation was ever given about the place. And then, just as interest was beginning to dwindle, the letters began. Six Little Indians playing with a hive, A bumblebee stung one, and then there were five. Covering land all over the United States they made it to ten unsuspecting persons. A war colonel. A renowned doctor. A Hollywood starlet. Each with a past. Each with a secret. Five Little Indians going in for law, One got in Chancery, and then there were four. Your presence is requested at Indian Island. We have a position for you at Indian Island. Please come and spend a weekend at Indian Island. Signed, Boddy. Four Little Indians going out to sea, A red herring swallowed one, and then there were three. One by one, the letters were received. And, one by one, they were greeted with curiosity. Yet none of those intrigued recipients could turn down such an offer. After all, here was suddenly the opportunity to unravel the mystery that was Indian Island. The mystery that was Mr. Boddy. Three Little Indians walking in the zoo, A big bear hugged one, and then there were two. These are the events that would lead to the arrival of ten houseguests to Indian Island for one weekend. Strangers to each other. Strangers to their host. Strangers to the fate that would befall each and every one of them. Two Little Indians sitting in the sun, One got frizzled up, and then there was one. Suddenly, ten houseguests become ten murderers. Accusations would fly. Secrets would be unearthed. And, by Monday morning, all of them would be dead. Victims of a simple nursery rhyme. One Little Indian left all alone, He went and hanged himself, And Then There Were None. Other Information So. Once again, Clue is back and better than ever. Hopefully. The typical spelling and grammar rules apply as well as the quality of post rules (Make sure your posts contain depth, character, etc., etc....) As it may or may not be obvious, this time around I've based the plot along the Agatha Christie book of the same name. Now, while I would prefer that each person plays only one character, I know I can't hope that each character will seem attractive to everyone. The objective is that all characters are played by someone or else this rp cannot work. So I'll start out by asking that everyone take only one character, and, if all aren't taken in due time, I will ask for some to take an additional character. That's about it for now. And please be respectful of everyone. We're all friends here. The Cast Each character has additional information that has not been listed here to keep the air of secrecy. This information will be pmed to the person playing each character. Taken by: kncliff87 Name: Miss Vera Scarlet Defining Demeanor: The name Vera Scarlet may be known to some and unknown to others. After completing three movie flops, including her most recent, the nausiatingly melodramatic Duchess of Bombay, Miss Scarlet has been pretty surely classified as a C-list actress. Still, what she lacks on her resume she makes up for with her wit, beauty, and sensuality. It is these traits which have kept her desirable by both studios and lusty men in Hollywood. Played by: Amanda Peet ![]() Taken by: Name: Mrs. Blanche Peacock Defining Demeanor: Having married into money, Mrs. Peacock is known in her choice circles as the gossip extraordinaire. Her knack for knowing what is going on in elitist America is unparalleled by any other, and last year she took the liberty of cashing in on it. Her gossip book, SCANDAL: A History of American Society, was a best seller for six weeks after its publication, and Mrs. Peacock was able to rake in over half a million dollars with its sales. Played by: Kristin Scott Thomas ![]() Taken by: Name:Mrs. Martha White Defining Demeanor: Since the early years of her adolescence, Mrs. White has been earning a living for both herself and her family by doing housework for families. Years of being hired by wealthy families on both sides of the Atlantic has made her very experienced and reliable at her work. Despite all of this though, life has made Mrs. White a very nervous and reserved woman, and she is not easily trusting of others. Played by: Joan Plowright ![]() Taken by: Name: Miss Emily Brown Defining Demeanor: In the later years of life, Miss Brown is a conservative spinster of unyielding principles. Her cold and condemning nature reveals the conceit of a woman who has lived her life by the Puritan beliefs of Christianity. Naturally, she believes herself incapable of anything less than devout purity, constantly justifying her actions with Bible scriptures, and always quick to address the flaws she sees within those around her. Played by: Judi Dench ![]() Taken by: Kiss Me Kate323 Name: Miss Lucielle Rose Defining Demeanor: Still in the prime of life, Miss Rose has been on the hunt for a substantial job, taking anything from being a nanny to a secretary. Although she might consider herself street smart and independent, her innocence and naivety is often very obvious, and she frequently finds herself slipping into those girlish thoughts of fantasy and high romance. It's at times like these where she believes herself to be very susceptible to influence. Played by: Evan Rachel Wood ![]() Taken by: Name: Mr. Alexander Green Defining Demeanor: Swashbuckling, reckless, and debonair, Mr. Green has seen each of the Seven Wonders of the World and then some. An explorer by occupation and by heart, he loves discovering new and uncharted territories believing himself to be the hero of his own adventure story. His lust for danger is only matched by his lust for beautiful young women, which he is fortunate enough to find many of throughout his journeys. Played by: Hugh Grant ![]() Taken by: Old Wolf Name: Professor Lawrence Plum Defining Demeanor: At an early age, Lawrence Plum was found to be a child genius, excelling in all forms of education. His passion though was for law, and so in adulthood he studied to become a lawyer which took him quickly to the position of judge until finally he was given an esteemed position as a professor at Harvard Law School. Now in his mid-thirties, he has enough money to retire on, but his passion for life keeps him where he is. Played by: Alan Cumming ![]() Taken by: Name: Colonel John Mustard Defining Demeanor: A retired colonel of the Great War, Col. Mustard is well aware that the best years of his life are behind him. Disassociating himself from much of the world around him, his thoughts linger on the actions of his past, his years in the war, and his deceased wife. In recent years he's become more and more confused about things, slipping in and out of periods of delusion. Slowly but steadily, he is slipping into dementia. Played by: Anthony Hopkins ![]() Taken by: Name: Dr. Edward Grey Defining Demeanor: It started as a humble practice in a hospital. Some wealthy, influential women told others of his success, and almost overnight Dr. Grey had become one of the most recommended doctors for those who could afford him. Now having established his own private practice, Dr. Grey is a favorite physician due to his calm nature and ability to diagnose problems reliably. Despite his popularity, he still enjoys his solitude. Played by: Joaquin Pheonix ![]() Taken by: Name: Mr. Thomas Black Defining Demeanor: Mr. Black is the new butler of Indian Island. Hailing from the British Isles, this good natured man is every bit the proper English butler that one would expect him to be. Yet his subservient nature often causes people to believe him to be a rather nervous creature. Like everyone, he does of course get nervous at times, and during these instances he does tend to act out of character, doing things that seem odd or strange. Played by: Ian Mckellan ![]() Thanks to both dreamboat 370 and FAIT_Accompli for their help. __________________ Somebody told me.... That you were so stupid.... But I didn't believe them.... | Well, if you take one, and then we find at least one more person, I could ask everyone to take another character, making the possibilities a little less daunting. And don't be turned off by the fact that there some older characters as well. No matter what the age, they're still characters with enough history and personality to be interesting, I assure you. ![]() __________________ Somebody told me.... That you were so stupid....
