Blood & Magic #3 | Oh The Years We Waste (New Players/Characters Loved)

*banner by faith in you

Seven years ago what was thought of as a biological weapon began appearing all around the world. It was a sudden shortness of breath, followed by neurological distress and later death. No one but magical/otherworldly beings survived this epidemic which none, not even those who survived could figure out. Different parts of the world have sectioned themselves off to different types of otherworldly species; Japan is the largest habitat for lycans in the known world whilst much of Europe is the playground of the fey. The Americas (both north and south) are still scattered with many of each kind still clinging on. In New York, newly renamed Liberty City the blood is on the ground for real. Many wars run concurrent; treaties drawn, homes are no longer safe. It is a city on fire and some just want to watch the world burn…

About The Races:

About Vampires –The world of the vampires is in a hierarchy, a rank of nobility. Going in this order: Emperor/Empress, King/Queen, Grand Duke/Grand Duchess, Prince/Princess, Marquis/Marquise, Count/Countess, Baron/Baroness, all the rest are part of the ‘common court’. The Emperor and Empress are in charge of the whole coven. Vampire life can also be influenced by courting rituals (i.e a Count vampire is the lover to a member of the common court, member of the common court gains status by being attached to Count over say, a Baroness). Vampires can challenge for the position of their superiors in a battle of blood where the vampire that is challenged and the challenger will see which can survive the longest without feeding (or to the death) or a battle of wits the likes of which is determined by one or both of the mated pair in charge. Only one challenge can go on at any time. Similarly a higher member of the vampire nobility can challenge someone less than they are if they feel a challenge is imminent or if they feel they’ve been besmirched.

All vampires feed on the blood of the living, no exceptions, no other animal can suffice. The living can be fed on and survive provided the vampire doesn’t take too much of their blood. The biting of a living being will not render that being undead. There are no side effects initially when a vampire bites you (other than blood loss) however being habitually bitten by a vampire addicts the subject to the one who’s doing t he biting in a manner much like a drug addiction. Vampires are incapacitated during the day, as in not awake, dead, unable to move. The older the vampire the earlier they can wake in the evening. Lower level vampires (anyone below the rank of prince or princess) are not allowed to make another vampire without the permission the emperor or empress; if they go outside of this they face exile or worse.

Vampires are extremely agile and can jump from great heights without worry, they cannot however fly. They are extremely strong and can lift, throw, and hold more than three times their body weight. Vampires can die or be injured by any kind of fire, are susceptible to harm from holy objects and usually expire in about two days without blood. Vampires carry the look at which they were turned for eternity and they cannot breed in the traditional sense, not even with a living being.

Vampires are currently at war with both the Lycans and the (unofficially) Mages and have a treaty of truce with the Fey.

About Lycans – Lycans are born, not made, no one knows for sure how exactly or where exactly Lycans came into being. The rule of the Lycan community is strictly ageist, meaning the eldest leads no matter how good a fighter she/he is or isn’t. Lycans age but at an odd rate, but they do age: a hundred year old Lycan would most likely resemble someone in their 30’s. The oldest living Lycan known aged to 760 years of age, no one knows why none have aged longer. Lycans are encouraged mate with other lycans to preserve the line and it isn’t uncommon for parents to betroth their young children. A lycan who mates with a human may or may not give birth to a lycan and since the powers of lycanthropy don’t manifest until after puberty it can leave progeny confused.

Lycans can operate in full human guise, in full wolf guise or in half guise but only the eldest of the lycans can work the later. In all of these forms lycans can be injured/die by silver (even when mixed with other metals it can still kill them). Lycans are extremely strong, stronger than vampires by half but they are quite slow by comparison.

Lycans are at war with the Vampires.

About Mages – Mages are the only humans that survived the vetting, and it was only their powers which saved them. Mages are evolved humans who carry the power to wield one of the five elements (earth, wind, water -includes ice, a specialty of water magic-, fire, metal) or pure energy and bend it to their will. The lesser mages have to have something to start with to do magic (like dirt in hand) but the more practiced mages can produce it from nothing. Fire mages are very rare, having mostly been destroyed by the vampires who they posed threat to. Mages appear human and age at the normal rate. In order to survive most mages live in small groups with other like mages (i.e. water mages gather together) in order to produce great amounts of a certain kind of magic to deter attacks.

There really is no leader of the mages since they don’t live in close quarters but since the near extermination of the fire mages most have a fear/hatred of vampires. Some opportunistic mages are known to hire themselves out as bounty hunters to the Lycans for a price to hunt vampires. Mages are also involved in an unofficial war with the Fey who feel that magic should be limited and take most every opportunity to kill them. Since mages are human they are subject to death in any way a human could be killed.

Mages are (unofficially) at war with both the Vampires and the Fey.

About Fey – The fey have a very developed sense of honor and when they give their word it is practically unbreakable. The fey are also all…a little crazy. Fey are unable to breed with anyone but humans. Fey have a reserve of magical power and once tapped, like a battery they must recharge through sleep. Although they have control over all four elements this can make besting a power mage in battle difficult. Fey are not born, they are made, changed from human to fairy in a complicated process. All fey were once human beings, stolen at childhood and replaced with changeling children. The children are always taken for a reason be it beauty or some certain talent that will amuse other faerie. Fey are deathly allergic to iron and it can cause death for them; it also, even in the smallest amount can cause their magic to go haywire. The age of the fey is variable since they inherently know how they would look in any part of their lives should they have ages in a way akin to normal humans. They can adopt any of these guises but it is a choice once made cannot be undone. In the purest sense of the word fey are not able to achieve goodness unless it benefits them in some way.

The Fey are (unofficially) at war with the mages and have a treaty of truce with the Vampires.

Rules:

+ The boy/girl rule is in effect, for every character you take.
+ Please try to post every other day, if you’re not going to be able to please post and let everyone know. (Inactive players gone from the game for more than a week without notice will have their profiles deleted)
+ This game is a dark game, dark stuff should happen
+ If you’re losing interest in a character instead of giving them up arrange for something to happen to them: death, moving to a different part of the world ect. That kind of stuff can be wrapped up in ten minutes or less and it would give closure to their story.
+ Please Plot. Plot by Pm, plot by e-mail, plot by chat program, as Nike says “Just do it!” Before starting the game I want everyone to have a small paragraph ready with relationships. It doesn’t have to be anything major but something like Sally Vampire is related to Joey vampire because they have the same maker. Sally vampire really hates Leo lycan because he killed her mate. Sally vampire is part of the common court and wants to be Ethan Vampires lover. This kind of stuff can really keep a game going.

Residents of Liberty City:

The Vampires...

Name: Louis Aglionby
Age: 1256
Rank: Emperor
Five Most Prevalent Personality Traits: Wise, Twisted, Adventurous, Bored, Playful.
Relationships: Is mated (the vampire equivalent of marriage to) Casidy Aglionby and they occupy their respective places, as King and Queen together as a unit. They are not romantically involved but they love each other deeply as friends and as a strong political force. Since his marriage isn’t all encompassing Louis has a string of lovers (all male), most dangerous of which is Casimiro Sortani who occupies only one station rank below him and whom he suspects as wanting to later usurp his power. He believes that his wife and many other friends in the court keep him safe, including a member of his progeny Drake Lacroix – the first vampire he ever made. Additionally Louis still has certain proclivities towards a lycan who was once in his service by the name of Alexander Sutton, he'd give anything to find him because he's the one who ran away and got away with it. Little does he know he's being tracked down for killing a fire mage so long ago (human and their silly little grudges) by the daughter of the man he killed, Aya Maeda who's all grown up now and just as powerful.
Played By: Casey Skinner
Taken By: KervyQT16

Name: Richelle Miennette
Age: 476
Rank: Queen
Five Most Prevalent Personality Traits: Flirtatious, Naive, Easy going, Playful, Opportunistic, Brash
Relationships: A princess by right, Richelle was happy with her Prince who was sadly defeated for the throne by her "mate" Casimiro Sortani. While there is an attraction between her and her new Prince, Richelle is still bitter about the whole ordeal. Surprisingly, despite her bitterness, she doesn't get along with Drake Lacroix either for siring Casimiro. Maybe it's because he's her Prince and despite the fact that they don't get along, she thinks Drake has no right to have the Prince. The order has been compromised. It'll always be Prince/Princess. That's how it goes, right?
Played By: Autumn Reeser
Taken By: kiss and tell

Name: Casimiro Sortani
Age: 452
Rank: King
Five Most Prevalent Personality Traits: Conceited, Extravagant, Insincere, Flighty, Impulsive
Relationships: Currently working his way up the aristocratic latter, one rung at a time. Both King Louis and Queen Casidy Aglionby are his latest conquests, and it’s safe to say that neither of them seem to be aware that they’re sharing the very same lover. For now, at least. His attachments to the two of them are thin at best, because Casimiro’s only ever got his political agenda in mind—and getting close to Louis and his beautiful mate will make seizing his title and position just that much easier. The only person he does seem to be fond of is Drake Lacroix, his sire and (occasionally un-) willing friend and companion. Almost like Anne Rice’s Lestat and Louis, except with the roles reversed. And Lestat is considerably more whiny. Lastly, there's his rather troublesome relationship with his Princess and mate, Richelle Miennette (who insisted on keeping her last name, for some ridiculous reason)—it was only after defeating the previous holder of his title that he realized the Princess came with the territory, so now he's basically stuck with her. They don't get along particularly well, and Casimiro doesn't even bother putting up a front for the sake of the Court; everybody else seems to know whenever they have a spat. Truthfully, the only reason she's alive is that she can actually hold her own. And there's some smidgen of mutual attraction there. But that's about it.
Played By: Romulo Arantes
Taken By: dreamboat

Name: Drake Lacroix
Age: 673
Rank: Count
Five Most Prevalent Personality Traits: Rebellious, Devious, Controlling, Energetic, Determined
Relationships: Drake holds a bit of resentment towards Louis even after all these years for the very fact that he had changed him in to a vampire unwillingly. Though Drake has found the advantages and disadvantages of a much prolonged life, it didn't mean that the bitterness between the two had subsided. The wedge had driven itself much deeper when Drake acted on his vampire instinct and had sired Casimiro unintentionally. Lack of blood, human wise that is, could drive anyone up the wall. With the taste of human blood tainted on his tongue, and changed his perspective on certain things.

The Lycans...
Name: Vaughn Hennings
Age: 135
Five Most Prevalent Personality Traits: Persistent, Conscientious, Wary, Distrustful, Obedient
Relationships: Somewhat grudging leader of his pack, which occurred only after their eldest member recently (within the past few years) passed away during an incident with vampires. Not exactly the friendliest Papa Wolf, especially toward the younger and more stupid set of lycans, but he tries his best to, at the very least, protect them from harm. He wouldn’t be the one to come to for advice and a fatherly hug, that’s for sure. He unwillingly took in Astrid Kane after she had nowhere else to go, feeling some kind of lycan-lycan obligation, but her behavior constantly has him no less than irritated. Generally, he’s indifferent toward the rest of his pack.
Played By: Henry Cavill
Taken By: dreamboat

Name: Crina Urzica
Age: 129
Five Most Prevalent Personality Traits: Headstrong. Compassionate. Charged. Feisty. Quick Witted.
Relationships: Surrogate summoned to create lycan progeny for Vaughn Hennings.
Played By: Kate Beckinsale
Taken By: KervyQT16

Name: Daniel Kelly
Age: 44
Five Most Prevalent Personality Traits: Honest. Kind. Careful. Strong. Dependable.
Relationships: Has been with girlfriend Meginne Xian for only a little while. Their love at first sight courtship has grown into something more. On the other hand he has had a standing flirtation with Hannah Alldredge one of many mages he feels protective of (though he doesn’t broadcast this to his elders). Amongst his friends in the pack are Alexander Sutton who is both buddy and confidant.
Played By: Paul Blackthorne
Taken By: KervyQT16

Name: Antonio Ramirez
Age: 42
Five Most Prevalent Personality Traits: Relentless, Sarcastic, Determined, Sly, Insightful
Relationships: Once a mentor for Miles when Miles had first succumbed to a lycan's instinct, although the two respected each other in a sense. That is, despite the teetering "love" (which was nothing more than respecting a comrade of sorts) and hate for one another. Though some of the words that have ever came out of Antonio's mouth may seem harsh, he often has no reason to hold back the bitter truth of some things.
Played By: Valentino Lanus
Taken By: ~+Yamiko

Name: Alexander Sutton
Age: 38
Five Most Prevalent Personality Traits: Reliable, Restless, Impatient, Resilient, Resentful
Relationships: He’s been sort of unbearable to be around ever since being nabbed by Louis Aglionby for a lycan plaything, a position he was all too eager to abdicate since day one. Fortunately for his sanity and well-being, he managed to liberate himself after just four or five years of servitude with help from other members of his pack, but he hasn’t quite left the memory behind. There’s still plenty of bitterness and resentment remaining, something his closest and possibly only friend Daniel Kelly has to put up with on a daily basis. But he's not about to let that resentment go to waste. Enter Kiara Lewis, a mage whose assistance Alexander has enlisted for one single task: eliminating Louis Aglionby in the most torturous, agonizing manner possible.
Played By: Ben Barnes
Taken By: dreamboat

Name: Miles Redman
Age: 37
Five Most Prevalent Personality Traits: Impatient, Guarded, Rough, Loyal, Attentive.
Relationships: Miles is a lycan who has had his fair share of downfalls. While he won't divulge too much, all there is to know is that his life wasn't very good. Enter Aya Maeda, a woman he took in years ago after she was attacked. Now, he's come to the realization that he has feelings for her. He is also friends with Lucian Evans and they have a big brother/little brother relationship. They always have each other's backs.
Played By: Paul Rudd

The Mages...
Name: Jennifer Wells
Age: 33
Type of Magic? Earth
Can They Create Magic From Nothing? Yes.
Five Most Prevalent Personality Traits: Intuitive, Brutal, Genuine. Cunning, Protective.
Relationships: Currently has one bad tude and a healthy distrust of anyone new - see her rancor towards Aya Maeda as evidence of that – as well as anyone who isn’t a made. Partially this is a response to her being left by Issash, her then lover who stayed for the birth of their child before kidnapping it. It was only later she found out he was a faerie. The only person she’s shared all this with is Kiara Lewis, the only person she completely trusts. Successful relationships were hard to come by but she’s been with Anthony Milo for two years and it’s the happiest she’s been in awhile.
Played By: Keeley Hawes
Taken By: KervyQT16

Name: Paige Saito
Age: 20
Type of Magic? Fire
Can They Create Magic From Nothing? Yes.
Five Most Prevalent Personality Traits: Banal, Forgetful, Crass, Juvenile, Angry
Relationships: TBD
Played By: Erika Sawajiri
Taken By: KervyQT16

Name: Kiara Lewis
Age: 33
Type of Magic? Energy
Can They Create Magic From Nothing? Yes
Five Most Prevalent Personality Traits: Witty. Sarcastic. Determined. Adventurous. Skillful.
Relationships: Her close friend in the mages is Jennifer Wells. Kiara knows that she can count on her for anything and the same goes. She's a genuine friend and probably the only mage that she can actually confide in. It is widely known that the Mages hate Vampires with a passion, and with Kiara, it's no exception. She's even in cahoots with Alexander Sutton to bring down the King, which is of course Louis Aglionby, in the worse way possible. She also works with Lucian Evans whenever he needs something done, so yes, she also helps the Lycans but there's nothing wrong with that.
Played By: Elizabeth Banks
Taken By: kiss and tell

Name: Hannah Alldredge
Age: 23
Type of Magic? Water.
Can They Create Magic From Nothing? No.
Five Most Prevalent Personality Traits: Chatty, Coquettish, Bold, Mercurial, Clever
Relationships: Home-wrecker extraordinaire. She has her sights set on Daniel Kelly, an older lycan who just so happens to be in a relationship with someone else—but is that about to stop her? I think not. If anything, the fact that she has some competition just makes the entire ordeal just that more exciting and Daniel just that more desirable. Not that he wouldn’t be desirable without the girlfriend. Rawr. When she’s not fighting over Daniel, she’s entirely easy-going and amiable, which is why she was the first to accept Aya into the Liberty City mage community, and even into her own home. No questions asked. Hannah’s curious about the newcomer, interested, but not at all distrustful.
Played By: Zooey Deschanel
Taken By: dreamboat

Name: Aileen "Aya" Maeda
Age: 20
Type of Magic? Fire
Can They Create Magic From Nothing? Yes (Though in order to create a powerful attack, she relies on a staff her father had given her)
Five Most Prevalent Personality Traits: Insightful, Reserved, Uncanny, Apathetic, Straight Forward
Relationships: TBA
Played By: Erika Sawajiri
Taken By: ~+Yamiko

The Fey...
Name: Issash (Seelie King)
Age: 156
Five Most Prevalent Personality Traits: Debonair, Audacious, Obstinate, Loyal, Outspoken
Relationships: As the oldest of the Fae, and also one of the most respected, Issash has had his fair share of scrutiny as well as kindness. Once upon a time, he and Jennifer Wells were lovers, and he kept his identity concealed because she probably wouldn't have gone as far as she did if she found out what he really was. They had a child together, and he left Jennifer and took the baby and turned the baby into a fairy. Jennifer is oblivious and so are some of the fey as if the truth were to break out that he had a child with a mage, he doesn't know what will happen. The only person he really respects with the secret is Tanir, his ally and protégé who Issash has seen grow from human to fey and has helped him with the transition.
Played By: Lee Pace
Taken By: kiss and tell

Name: Morraine (Unseelie)
Age: 128
Five Most Prevalent Personality Traits: Tactful, Refined, Ruthless, Sly, Attentive
Relationships: Despite being deceptively young and innocent-looking in appearance, Morraine acts as both political adviser and protector to the Unseelie Queen—a role that he couldn't possibly take any more seriously, even going so far as to take her majesty's place during public appearances should her safety be at risk. Oddly enough, passing for a convincing woman is one of his marketable skills, and he's hardly ashamed to admit it.
Played By: Kian Mitchum
Taken By: dreamboat

Name: Ainelis (Seelie)
Age: 100
Five Most Prevalent Personality Traits: Curious. Kinky. Naïve. Raw. Jealous.
Relationships: Owes a life debt to Anthony Milo for saving her life from a group of thugs trying to stab her through with iron.
Played By: Amanda Seyfried
Taken By: KervyQT16

Name: Tanir (Seelie)
Age: 72
Five Most Prevalent Personality Traits: Astute, Protective, Candid, Inquisitive, Brazen
Relationships: Serves as the fey community guard dog. One of few males in the first place, so naturally feels an obligation to keep an eye on the other members of his species. Particularly those of the fairer sex. And Maxim, who seems to be tormented constantly by Merilinn—which is actually pretty funny, I mean, she’s obviously got a thing for him, but neither of them seem to realize it. Best to let them figure it out for themselves. Tanir is just that great of a friend. Then there's Issash, the eldest of the Fey and possibly the only individual Tanir has genuine respect for, believe it or not. As far back as he can remember, Issash had been there in his life, guiding him through the transition from human to fey, and it's for that reason the two of them are incredibly close.
Played By: Steven Strait
Taken By: dreamboat

Name: Merilinn (Seelie)
Age: 15
Five Most Prevalent Personality Traits: Bossy, Self-centered, Fanciful, Blithe, Impish
Relationships: Has a fifth grade girl-type relationship with Maxim, i.e. playful hair pulling, shoving, occasionally lighting on fire, fleeing on sight and giggling. She’s not quite experienced enough to know her urges to do these things to her fellow fey are a sign of some deeper, amorous feelings, so instead she mocks him at every turn. Maybe eventually she’ll have an epiphany, or accidentally kill Maxim—whichever occurs first. All she knows at the moment is that he’s fun to tease.

Thread Two Synopsis

With the game fractured into two sets, one grouping of the denizens of Liberty City staying put and dealing with things on the home front a separate group of the people there (and indeed the rest of the world in this game) traveled to Paris in the hopes of procuring a priceless artifact known as the Eye of Ra. It is said to have possessed properties that would allow vampires to walk in the sun. This made it a very important commodity for all those who lived vampire, lycan, mage and fey alike as it could serve as a weapon of offense or defense.

Upon arriving in Paris, the auction set meet the Unseelie host, Vona, an older queen than Issash who is king in Seelie. Working hand in hand with the Grimalkin cat the auction starts and the bidders file into the room. Many of the guests are unsettled by the manner of travel, elaborate brass keys which act as transport, including Daniel Kelly who has a particularly adverse reaction. This is a source of playful ridicule from his traveling buddy, Alexander, who, along with Daniel and newbie lycan Astrid Kane (who has a run in with Vona involving both women’s superficiality) were sent to Paris by pack leader Vaughn who opted to stay put and tend to the rest of the pack in Liberty City in the hopes that they would be able to procure the Eye of Ra with limited loss.

Another lycan who made the trip was Meginne Xian. While soaking up local color she runs into Hannah, the water mage. Though both women love the look of the city an unspoken attraction between Daniel and Hannah leaves the conversation between the two women terse and filled with the unsaid as Meginne is Daniel’s grilfriend. While Meginne continues exploring the city Hannah makes her way to the Unseelie mansion in time for the auction to begin.

Alex notices that there have been some subtle differences in Daniel since the masquerade ball and a more tense relationship between their pack leader, Vaughn and Daniel has been notices. It starts as a gentle joke but Daniel’s ill feelings towards the way the Vaughn chooses to lead the pack cannot be concealed, a fact which startles Alexander who shows perfect deference to their leader. Sensing the change in Daniel but not the full extent of it Alex prods Daniel to make a promise that he won’t leave the pack. Daniel doesn’t completely promise but makes it clear that he knows he’d be in great danger were he to venture out on his own and that he isn’t suicidal. Daniel does not tell Alex about his plans to possibly become a bounty hunter on loan to the mages.

Still another member of the Liberty City lycan pack who made his way over to Paris was Miles Redman. While exploring the city (much in the same way as his packmate Meginne) he encounters Aya Medea enjoying the view at the Eiffel Tower. They share a bond, seeing as Miles and certain members of his pack, helped revive Aya who had been attacked and left for dead a long time ago. They speak about the other mages and pack members of Liberty City and Aya, who keeps to herself a lot reveals, not unexpectedly that she doesn’t know what other mages might have made the jump from there to here. Aya explains that she is bothered by the selling of the Eye particularly if the winning bidder turns out to be a vampire, but that she is unsure if she’ll make it to the auction. Miles similarly seems only passingly interested in the event itself. They swap information on the places where they are staying whilst in Paris and Aya asks Miles to accompany her.

She has no where she particularly wants him to accompany her to so the pair end up walking towards the cathedral where Aya is staying during her Parisian stay. When they reach the church they talk about a mutual acquaintance, Antonio , who has a connection to Aya’s late father and Miles who has less than stellar feelings about. Aya tells Miles that Antonio expressed that Aya’s father’s death was a “set-up” and that he suggested that Miles knew more about what had happened. Miles admits that he did know something but not much of what he knew was concrete. He tells her he knows there was a struggle, that Louis killed her father, and that her father had asked him to look after her. He admits he feels he failed him on that point. Aya doesn’t respond to that particular point but tells Miles that Antonio is in Spain and that she feels that she needs to see him again to piece back together the memories of the night her father died – many of which remain elusive. Miles expresses contempt at the idea of Aya going alone and suggests his going in her stead or at least allow him to go with her as he doesn’t trust Antonio. Aya didn’t see the dangers that Miles is projecting onto Antonio during their conversation on the way to Paris but says nothing about it. Aya excuses herself and makes her way to the auction.

Daniel and Alex separate with Alex going off in search of Astrid who he later finds with Vona, while Daniel goes into the auction. Before he finds Astrid Alex runs into Aya. He recognizes her because of the incident in which Miles saved her and brought her home to be nursed back to health. They don’t have much of a relationship and Aya’s gentle probing for answers is met with derision on Alex’s part. When she is greeted by his bad attitude she excuses herself.

When Daniel finds a seat at the auction he sees Hannah and calls her over. He’s initially worried because the last time he saw her she looked at him as if he were monstrous but he worried needlessly as she seemed to have forgotten the situation. They talk about Hannah’s matchmaking skills and Daniel calls her cute, perhaps the most vocal declaration of their attraction. While they are flirting Aya stumbles into the conversation. There is an unexpected recognition between both Aya and Daniel and while they are trying to sort it out Hannah becomes angry with them both – Aya for drawing away Daniels attention and Daniel for ignoring her. Though he tries to apologize to Hannah she seems content to be angry. He apologies to Aya and promises to meet her later at the church to discuss how they might know each other.

Upon arriving in Paris Lore, the unofficial record keeper of the Seelie Court of fey, spots Tanir. While Lore talks about food Tanir inwardly wonders what makes women, even fairy women, so enamored with Paris. They decide to go off in search of a buffet while also looking for the other members of Seelie traveling party: Ainelis and Issash. While Tanir wonders over the lesser parts of the Unseelie mansions architecture Lore wonders over the best way to make Tanir fall in love with her pondering everything from truthfulness to trapping him in a book until he reciprocates her feelings. Tanir seems undeterred from searching out the Seelie king but finds that the magic of the Unseelie court counteracts with his own making it unable for him to do so. While trying to figure out a way to make it work he tries to hold conversation with Lore without revealing that he knows of her feelings. Lore, equating love of books with love of her asks Tanir if he likes books. He tells her that he finds reading taxing and that he doesn’t enjoy it. They eventually find a buffet of food where both are satisfied.

Meanwhile Ainelis and Issash are in Ainelis’ quarters. The present that Issash made for Ainlies back in Liberty City, her puggle puppy, has accompanied the party to Paris. The dog has made a mess in the Unseelie rooms and in a whiney pleading voice Ainlies urges Issash to fix the dog from making any further messes. Though he wonders if he shouldn’t, making Ainelis responsible for her pet he acquiesces in fear that leaving the room a mess would make a negative impression on their Unseelie brethren. They talk about the auction and banter the differences between the two fey courts. Ainelis explains that she covets that artifact because she could use to obtain the heart of a lycan who could use the amulet as protection. While waiting for the auction to begin Ainelis wonders over the differences of the Seelie and Unseelie courts. Issash explains that the Seelie are holy and though endowed with no special difference in magic their natures are different. Ainelis asks if there have always been only been two sets of fey and Issash replies in the affirmative.

Later, as Ainelis has gotten separated from Issash who is still in the auction room she almost collides with Aya, fresh from her conversation with Daniel. The fey demands the name of the mage girl first and a bit of banter ensues, painted with Ainelis’ prejudice against anything not fey and Aya’s distrust of, well, mostly everybody. No gauntlets are thrown in keeping with the temporary peace of the Unseelie court but you can tell that there will be no love lost between the pair should they meet again.

Back in Liberty City Jennifer is staring out a window. Upon seeing Issash at the vampire ball a lot of old emotions have been stirred up in her. She can’t get the Seelie king who stole away their daughter off the brain. In the middle of this reverie she is approached by boyfriend, Anthony Milo. The two share a smattering of kisses but the intimacy is disturbed by Jen’s inability to disclose information about her past and the fact she grills Anthony about his. Though they both love each other and Jen almost caves she is too fearful to tell him of her past for fear of judgment and they part having shared nothing new. Later, still stung from this encounter Jen breaks down in tears in front of best friend Kiara, also a mage and for the first time in a long time, Jen relaxes, telling everything to her friend. Kiara offers to help her in any way she can.

Casimiro, prince of Vampires wakes next to his affianced Richelle. They say nothing to each other, merely observing a façade that makes them both safer by appearing as a power couple. When he wakes he makes his way down the hall to the rooms of Louis, king of Vampires and upstart, who is already waiting for him. Richelle opts to go in the direction opposite her fiancé and runs into Orion. When Richelle begins to leave, searching out something to eat Orion asks to go along with her, glad for the company she agrees. Orion, though Richelle has no idea, is completely enamored with the princess. During their conversation Orion prods Richelle about the relationship between herself and Casimiro. She’s unhappy with the situation but it’s bearable. When Orion questions if she’d like to see Casimiro challenged and removed she agrees that she’d be happier if he were deposed from his station. Orion volunteers himself “or someone like me” to get rid of Casimiro for her. She encourages him to try. Orion decides to leave and begin preparing for the challenge against Casimiro and asks Richelle if she wants to come, she agrees to come along, as she has nothing better to do.

Drake, progeny of Louis and duke of the Vampires arrives in Paris independently and soon finds that the queen, Casidy, had also made the trip. Their relationship is made up of attraction, particularly strong on the end of the vampire queen and this meeting is equally as close as the one they began at the mansion the night of the ball. Though this meeting is initially awkward Casidy’s reluctance is soon overcome despite her protestations of jet lag. Drake questions Casidy’s motives in leaving Liberty City while her husband, Louis, stayed behind. She explains that Louis had business he needed to attend to at home and questions the increasingly antagonistic relationship between Drake and his maker. She makes her case for the two getting along but the way he was made and other situations have much colored the relationship between Louis and Drake and not even her gentle prodding can make it better.

Drake presses his body up against Casidy’s and even though she is upset after Drake urges her to stay out of their fight, she finds the allure of him hard to resist. She warns him that he has no right in urging her to do anything seeing as she is the queen and outranks him. He agrees that this is true but that he wanted to warn the woman behind the title of trouble that might be brewing. In the heat of the argument Drake tells Casidy that it is better to see her as a queen and not a woman because were he to do so things could happen between the two of them. Casidy’s response is to kiss him, and later the pair end up in bed .

Louis and Casimiro sit down for a chat. After Casimiro feeds on a waiting fey the other man questions him about his relationship with his betrothed, Richelle. The younger makes clear that though the relationship is politically advantageous nothing has changed romantically and it is still a mating of power and convenience. During this conversation the two slip into a romantic evening of discussion. The king and prince agree to team up to dethrone the emperor who is currently away and attending the auction in Paris. They plan to use the position Louis currently occupies – governing regent – to lure him into an enclosed space and attack him, draining him of all his blood, thus drinking in his power. Louis, Casimiro and Victoria will feed on the leader and Louis expresses hopes about later involving Drake in the coup. Louis is momentarily distracted from business by becoming more intimate with Casimiro.

Louis sends a letter of summoning to Drake in Paris back home. When he returns both Casimiro and Louis pitch the idea of overthrowing the emperor to him in the hopes that he will, along with Victoria, aide in the takeover. While he doesn’t disagree he doesn’t agree either and he departs confusing the lovers. In his sadness over the relationship with Drake, Louis confides in Casimiro that Drake’s siring was not consensual and also his humble beginnings as a Messenian slave. The two are left embracing one another, growing increasingly more comfortable in the arms of their former respective rivals.

Skip & Interim Info:

The Auction – it’s been six weeks since the auction and almost all of the residents of Liberty City have made their way back. For some the journey was arduous coming by planes flown by sub-par pilots in airplanes not safe for that distance of travel. For others the journey was long, but train, natural fueled bus and some even by walking. Still others were able to “borrow” the jumping keys and make it back to the city in a flash.

The winner of the auction was one Astrid Kane, baby lycan of the Henning pack. She bet 100% of her soul and in front of the members of her pack withered away, crumbling to bone and dying in screaming agony, without a soul not even an proposed immortal could survive. With her death the amulet passed to the pack itself and it was taken home to Liberty City by Alexander Sutton along with the ashes of their fallen packmate.

As soon as the vampires made their way back to Liberty City the plans of Casimiro and Louis went into effect (without the help of Drake). The Emperor, caught off guard was slain by his lesser, drained of blood and chained to a tree outside the manor to burn and die in the light of the sun. The murder of their chief was blamed on the Henning pack of lycans and the war between vampire and lycan has never raged harder. All ranked vampires should be so wish can ascend into positions higher then they previously owned, as Louis and Casimiro have already done. So far the lie about the Emperors death has been accepted without question amongst members of the vampire court.

Meanwhile several mages have turned up murdered and so many in fact that much to the annoyance of some they promised to keep a closer eye on one another and move closer. On a scouting party led by Aya Medea the body of a young girl was found along with the charred remains of a vampire, little more than dust. Clutched in her dead hand was this letter:

To his Imperial Majesty of the West,

It continues to pain us that you do not come into our fold. With the unfortunate news of the death of Julius having reached us I admit I expected to hear of your abdication and that you were already on the way to us. I was greatly surprised to find that would not be the case.It is paradise on earth without worry of attack. No doubt we, as the prevailing and lordly race, suffer limited losses even when our brethren such as yourself are faced by the nuisance that is dealing with the vermin race of lycanthropes and others. Still it is our wish that someday you will allow for yours to come home to us in the eastern lands and leave behind these petty turf wars for control of the Americas. It should be known that if you do yield that restructuring within the kingdom will be required and that your fealty to me will be expected in lieu of a formal challenge to my superiority. But I digress…

…I am writing to you about something of interest. Our alchemists, tireless in their pursuits have discovered something that might be of interest to you and your problem. Lycanthropes are obviously not our problem; they serve in their way as our daytime guards but have none of the delusions of grandeur that your sect seem to have. There has been the occasional instance that one or two dogs have stepped out of line and it was for this reason I allowed the alchemists and apothecaries to continue their work – forms of punishment for the mislead and the stupider of the pack members who press for what little advantage they could hope to gather. Originally it was thought to isolate the lycanthropy gene in hopes of subduing the more animalistic traits of the wolves. In so doing we found that this was possible and indeed even more amusing was the fact that once isolated that most traces of the gene could be wholly removed.

It is very painful for the animals to endure such procedures, they howl and thrash and so one of our lesser alchemists thought to take pity on the creature, draining it of blood. He was heartily punished for this trespass but before the punishment was carried out our foolish friend nicked his finger with nearby scalpel and smelling the blood the bitten lycanthrope rose and lunged for the bloodied appendage. Such a story, I know, but I assure you at the crux of it is that we, the most learned of our kind, believe it is possible to turn any lycanthrope vampire. I leave you with this tidbit of information and with the most trusted of my emissaries, Wasim in the hopes that you are well and pleased at this great gift that will perhaps exponentially increase our numbers.

Torkwase

The letter was taken back to the home of Jennifer Wells who is hosting a conversation with any/all of the mages they’ve managed to scrounge up to talk about what they’re going to do about this. Should they tell? Do they owe any allegiance to the lycans simply because they have a mutual vendetta? And if so how much?

OOC: Hope you don't mind if I started posting my characters already Mandy, since you already posted the skip info.

I'll have Drake in by tomorrow but anyone can tag him.

Aya
Having returned to the cathedral she stayed in, Aya had unseemingly slipped out of the crowd of other mages when they discovered the charred remains of both a vampire and mage. She remembered the letter clutched in the mage's hand but didn't think much of it. She had only led the mages to the rooftop of one of the city's buildings but remained aloof and disappeared.

She knew something no one had known.

Although there was a string of murders that happened not too long ago upon her return to Liberty City, Aya had only committed one. That same murder scene she "happened to stumble on" (so she claimed). The killing happened so fast that it ran like a blur in her memory. A vampire appeared to have been ready to kill a mage by the way he held her while after Aya had successfully killed the vampire, the mage seemed to have pleaded with her to finish her off as well. Had the two known each other?

Upon her arrival back in Liberty City, she had not informed a lot of people of her arrival up for several weeks. That is, until she willingly showed them the scene of the crime. Since then, she kept her place of stay private, having decided not trouble Hannah any further by staying with the water mage. And even now, not once had Aya revealed to the other mages what her ability was. Fire mages were not only rare but also dangerous and being associated with them had its ups and downs.

The emperor of the vampires was dead. Or at least that's what she had overheard one night. But it wasn't so much of an uplifting news concerning that "he" was still live and still out there.

Aya was not much of a religious person and didn't have that sense of belief in the gods. But she always liked the burning incense smell and atmosphere of the old cathedral places with its high ceilings, chandeliers, stained glass windows, and much more. She loved to sit in the often dark cathedral, sans the occasional sun hitting the glass stained windows, and inhale the strong scent of incense that lingered.

Admiring the ceiling paintings that were similar to Michelangelo's work of art, she heard the door creak open with the sunlight casting a bit of its light in to the entrance. With her back to the door, Aya did not need to look up who it was that had entered.

"You weren't followed, were you?" She stood to her feet, her eyes still kept at the paintings. "Lock the door if you don't mind."

Antonio
So this is what Liberty City was like? Granted that Antonio had only been to the harbors with his boat since unlike most of the lycans he knew since back in the days, Antonio considered his home in Europe whether it be in Spain, Italy, or France. With his hands swinging to and fro, he overheard talk about a mage and vampire both having been wiped out and some letter that was found in the mage's hand regarding the emperor.

Walking along the highway and looking over the overpass at the empty roads, it was amazing that this city was known more for its high rise buildings and one standing statue. Modern city vs a hybrid of modern and historical.

Antonio was about to proceed to move on down the road but stopped when he sensed a familiar presence not too far away from him. With a small smile on his lips, Antonio stood a bit more straight up, having leaned over the concrete railing earlier.

"We should get together more often one of these days. Or at least converse. I'm not even sure how long I'll be here before I head back to Barcelona."

Daniel
Daniel had learned long ago that what scared one person might not scare another. It was life experiences sometimes that colored fear, like crayon marks outside the lines. The heart thudded, the muscles seized, the head ran with thoughts of fight or flight and it all happened at once, he was surprised that any body immortal or human could hold it all in. He knew all about Aya’s fears, their foundation and now what her life was built upon: secrecy, caution, and an unbridled need to know things and stay ahead of everyone else around her. “No, I wasn’t,” he said gently.

The cathedral even in its declining state was still beautiful and to him it harkened back to boyish times. He remembered sitting with his mother in the front of a church, her hand bruising around his wrist and her eyes daring him to kick the pew in front just one more time. He remembered the nasal singing of the choir master and the Nicene Creed still coating his tongue after all these years. He could recite it perfectly, he was sure of it and he hadn’t been to a mass since the death of the pack leader who served before Vaughn. His faith was lost, not by anything monumental but in slow pieces, the rituals emblazoned in his mind but the meaning behind them, the glory of it, gone. “Don’t be worried,” he said, even though he knew she would be. “I wasn’t followed, I haven’t told anyone I was coming here, and I promise that I won’t.”

Ooc: I'll post the others later unless anyone wants to tag them.

Aya
"Hannah doesn't know, does she?" Turning on her heel, she took several steps towards Daniel but stopped, still several yards at a distance from him. Even in the dark, Daniel could pass off as the kind of monster that tended to hide in closets and under the beds of children.

"I think I remember where we might have met before." For a moment, Aya seemed to be uncertain, contemplating on what her next move could be. Opening up her hand, a fireball had formed in her hand for a second before it shot up to the ceiling and disappeared. Not too long after, most, if not all, the candles on the shelves, the front of the church, and even the ceiling lit up with fire.

Daniel
He found himself smiling. To have told Hannah about the meeting with Aya would have invited the other mages wrath. He didn’t exactly shy away from confrontation but he didn’t run towards it either, well, not in most cases.
He’d found himself thinking about Aya a lot since the auction, trying to place her. There wasn’t a lot of time to do it what with the suspicious gaze of Alex falling on him, Meginne’s cold shoulder and Astrid’s funeral but in the hours before sleeping and after waking he’d tried to juxtapose memories together and the face he stood before now closely resembled the face of a girl he’d seen a long time ago.

He had been pretty sure he was on the right track but any unsurity he had disappeared with the surge of fire lighting up the church. “I remember you,” he said with a nod. “You know, when you left a lot of people wondered what happened to you,”

Louis
For the first time in a long time Louis felt at ease. He lay in his bed, hand curled around the neck of a mage, nameless and nude, growing cold in his arms. She shivered and he recognized the last vestiges of life leaving her. In consolation he laid a butterfly kiss on her shoulder. “It will all be over soon,” he whispered and almost as soon as he had finishing saying the words she grew still. The girl was dead and Louis only had the grace to lick his lips free of her blood before moving away.

The kill had been messy, intentionally. The red sheets on his bed looked black to the eye, at least two quarts of the girl’s blood having spilt onto the sheets. He pulled himself from the bed, checking his reflection in the mirror. The face was cool alabaster, pristine but the rest of the body was angry streaks of crimson. He admired it for a moment, the only sound a crack in the door thought which the valet entered. “Dispose of the body,” he clipped moving into the lounge area to clean up. “Deliver the invitation to dine in my chambers,”

Paige
She kept her head down, walking aimlessly. Unbeknownst to her she had begun to itch, not lightly, but deep ribbons. This was what happened. This was the life of an addict. And addicted she was to the feeling, the kite high soaring of being the paramour of a vampire. It had started out as one vampire but then it was any – as it was now. By the time she became aware of what she was doing to her arm she’d broken skin. Fantastic. Paige pulled her sleeve down over the wounds and kept walking.

She hated this city already. She was used to the fastidious tidiness that came with living as a vampire’s favorite, lap of luxury and now she was this. She was nomadic peasant, brought to Paris to be the food of an Emperor then summoned back to his territory to become new property after his death. She hated the feeling as much as she craved a place. The dark night closed in all around her but she didn’t fear, found that she couldn’t. Her fire was close and all around her there seemed the feeling that someone was watching from the shadows and she couldn’t wait to see what kind of thing the watcher was.

Jennifer
She wasn’t the greatest housekeeper but she tried to fix the studio so it at least looked presentable. Having sent Anthony out to look for mages she sat nervously tapping her foot against the concrete floor. There was more than an hour to go before the mages were due to show up but she couldn’t figure out anything else to do and she couldn’t keep from reading the letter the Medea girl had found, over and over again. Would there ever be a time when things weren’t dangerous for them again, she wondered?

She turned to smile at Kiara, always the most helpful, the first to arrive. “Can I get you something to eat or something?”

Aya
Letting out a chuckle, Aya dropped her hand to the side, staring up at the chandelier where the candles lit up. Somehow, just as the church looked great being in the dark, the illuminating flames made it seem more beautiful.

"I'm pretty sure they've had." She recalled having bumped in to Alex back in Paris to retrieve her hat that rolled out of the way. Had it not been for the treaty of peace being sanctioned at the time during the auction, there was no doubt that Alex would have attacked her. Aya never thought Daniel wouldn't give it much thought but had a slight notion that Miles would have been concerned since he and her father had been acquaintances prior to being on the run.

"Well, it might be a while. Might as well make the most of it." Making her way back to one of the pews that she had been sitting in earlier, she gestured for Daniel to follow her.

Drake
Sitting inside his room, Drake had been sitting up on the window sill with a book propped up on his knee. The past few weeks had left him in a combination of numb and discomfort. In most days, he was either up in his room reading (or at times, pretending to in order to avoid any conversation) or out of the manor feeding off. Occasionally, he would still make visits to Hannah, who apparently is still delighted to meet with him.

There was a reason he wasn't talking as much. Though he should if he didn't want to stir any suspicion with Louis.

Drake had secretly attempted to warn the emperor in advance about the assassination that was coming his way not too long after Louis had revealed to him the plans to take the emperor down. What he also added was the faux marriage that Casidy revealed to Drake when they were in Paris and the information needed to take Louis down. Not to mention that he had offered the emperor to flee the city in to a hide out, something Drake would never thought of doing.

However, although the emperor told Drake to give him a few days to think it over, it was the few days that was needed for Louis and the rest to jump the emperor and ultimately kill him.

Louis, fortunately, did not find out about Drake's discreet conspiring with the emperor. The ongoing lecture of betrayal was something he did not need.

Emerging from his room, Drake walked about the maze of hallways, stopping every once in a while to look over the paintings and portraits.
