Jay/Ed #5 There's milestones and there's ones you never dream to live through again. That's the best kind of all.

Mirde Who is Jay Pritchett? Jay Francis Pritchett is the patriarch of the family and father of Claire and Mitchell. He is married to Gloria and a stepfather to Manny; he is much older than Gloria and has been mistaken for her father more than once. At times there is a cultural clash between him and his wife and stepson because of their strong Colombian heritage. Most of the time, Jay manages to tolerate Manny's sensitivity and Gloria's attitude. Although he usually acts tough, he values all of his extended family members, and is generally seen as the one with the most common-sense. However, problems sometimes arise when he wishes to forget certain problems instead of dealing with them. He is a veteran of Vietnam, and runs a successful business, leading him to be the most financially secure member of the family. .On occasion, Jay enjoys traditionally manly hobbies such as watching football (Jay used to be a quarterback in college) and constructing model airplanes. He is not very comfortable with his son being gay, so when coming to Mitchell's and Cameron's place, he always announces himself by knocking loudly on the door, fearing he might find them having sex. A running gag in the series is Jay remembering Mitchell's behavior when he was a kid (such as naming his pets after Liza Minnelli) and wondering "how could I not know he was gay?" He seems to be evolving regarding homosexuality when he bonds with a friend of his who Mitchell suspects of being gay and forces him to open up Ed O'Neill Edward Phillip "Ed" O'Neill, Jr. (born April 12, 1946) is an American actor best known for his role as the main character Al Bundy, on the Fox Network sitcom Married... with Children, for which he was nominated for two Golden Globes. He is currently seen on the award-winning ABC sitcom Modern Family in the role of Jay Pritchett. "Back in '68, when I was sweeping up hair in that barbershop, I had this mental picture of the family that, if I was lucky enough, I would end up with. Perfect wife, perfect kids... Well guess what? I didn't get any of that. I wound up with this sorry bunch. And I'm thankful for that every day. Well, most days." Family Portrait (1x24) "Don't get me wrong, I love my family. I love them in birthdays, I love them in barbecues, but do I have to love them in Hawaii?" Airport (1x22) Future thread title: Underneath every lion is a pussy cat. Oh what did she do..Reinaldo! Life is like a series of doors. You can either go kicking and screaming, or walk through with your head held high. I found another way to bond (with Joe). James Bond. “There’s all kinds of milestones in life. The kind you expect to live through: first kiss, birthdays, graduations, if you’re lucky a wedding or two, or even a new addition to the family. And then there’s the kind you never dream you’d get to live through again. That’s the best kind of all.” - Jay Pritchett, "Party Crasher" 4x12 Previous Threads: Jay Pritchett/Ed O Neill #1 Jay Pritchett/Ed O' Neill #2 Jay Pritchett/Ed O'Neill #3 Jay Pritchett/Ed O'Neill #4 __________________

Loved Jay in the latest ep. I know it boosts his ego that Phil is asking for his help with golf. And when those insults somehow worked for Phil, you know that Jay is one that really lets it all out. I do hope that he gets to play golf with Mitch again. I'm really holding off on that one.

It was really nice that Jay was making the effort to be more patient and nicer to Phil but in the end his hard attitude is what helped Phil most!

Exactly! Caro said it best, he should've half-insulted him. We all know how Phil tries hard to please Jay.
