5x22 "Message received" Episode discussion

WIRES CROSS BOTH INTENTIONALLY AND UNINTENTIONALLY,
ON ABC’S “MODERN FAMILY”
“Message Received” – Jay, Gloria and Manny challenge each other to step outside their comfort zone and try something new. Mitch and Cam’s wedding is getting too big and costly so they resort to selling a couple of their prized possessions, and the kids play a joke on Phil and Claire, on “Modern Family,” WEDNESDAY, MAY 7 (9:00-9:31 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

“Modern Family” stars Ed O’Neill as Jay, Julie Bowen as Claire, Ty Burrell as Phil, Sofia Vergara as Gloria, Jesse Tyler Ferguson as Mitchell, Eric Stonestreet as Cameron, Sarah Hyland as Haley, Nolan Gould as Luke, Ariel Winter as Alex, Rico Rodriguez as Manny and Aubrey Anderson-Emmons as Lily.

Guest cast includes Cameron Watson as Appraiser and Mark Proksch as Coleman.

“Message Received” was written by Steven Levitan and directed by Jeffrey Walker.

..................

As an attempt to make these threads more popular, I think we need to actually encourage people to come post here about their thoughts on the episodes. So my idea is to choose one pairing for us to discuss, and then few days later can move onto next. Hopefully this idea will help get everyone more involved.

OH MY GOODNESS this episode.

Overall a great ep but man, I was crying so hard at the Jay/Mitch scene.

What a sad episode.

Let's discuss Jay/Mitch first. That argument was so heated and it broke my heart when Mitch finally went "don't come then." I don't know if its all resolved yet. I find it hard, but I know Jay still feels uncomfortable.

Jay tried to call him but he can't bring himself to. And Mitch was just looking out the car window thinking about everything that happened. I thought it was very well acted by Ed & Jesse. And I'm so sad how this will all go down. I know that Jay will be at the wedding but the forgiveness and everything that will happen now between Jay & Mitch will be very incredible to watch. I'm not ready for the wedding ep/finale.

I wonder how they will do it! I'm sure it will be resolved at some point but maybe it will take a lot of strength on Jay's part. I hope Mitch still gets to have the wedding he wants, not to worry about how Jay will react.

I'm not sure how they will resolve it. It's very painful to watch and just thinking about it makes me cry all over again.

Let's discuss what the kids did. I bet they were scared when Phil and Claire got into that fake argument. It was a nice trick but the parents luckily figured it out.

I thought that was pretty sneaky of them. Brilliant but sneaky. I'm sure it was all good intentions and at least it ended well for both Phil & Claire.

Yeah, I wonder if the kids ever found out that it was all an act.
