yeah, lol, this is somewhat confusing and unclear. Because you have Faye telling Cassie in the pilot, that she's a 100% witch, like they all are - meaning, both parents have to be witches. If you take the group of six, from Cassie's generation, two parents to each child totals 12. But, even if we go on the idea that the coven only needs six, but can possibly have more, it still raises questions to the generational issues.

I suppose it's possible that there are six families; however, some spouses married other 'outsider' witches who weren't from the six families. Maybe they were allowed to become part of the coven still, regardless of not descending from one of the six famililes?! It's just that you would have to have at least one member from those six families to have the circle intact. That could help to explain how there were only 'six' families ( the six stix figures on the book); however, 12 witch parents in total?! And how Cassie's circle would be 100% witch still?! I don't know, though, lol, just an idea.

well in the book you find out that everyone is related directly or indirectly. Like for instance Faye and Diana were cousins. So they could be going down the road.

True - in that line it worked, where siblings had children, but I think that can only happen so many times going backwards within the generations of the different 12 families before we are talking 'inbreeding' or 'incest' with too many of them sharing the same blood ties. They would eventually need new blood.
