Yes, exactly. Nothing I can do.

Well, it's a vegetable lasagna so... I don't eat meat.

Yes, I want all her clothes.

Yeah that volcano is an ongoing threat for the past week or so, no? Then again it's Hawaii.

I'm sorry, Nina. I just hope someday you get some time off.

Who cares? Lasagna is lasagna. It's still yummy!

Yeah, there's been fissures and lava flows all week, but now they're saying that there could be a full on eruption that could blow big chunks of rock into the air for miles, so they're asking people to evacuate their homes and stay clear of the debris. Then there's the smoke, which could also be dangerous.

There are so many natural disasters happening... all these wildfires and earthquakes in California for instance...

I'm tired. Wish there was anything exciting happening.

Yeah, I know. Living on the Pacific Rim is pretty intense. But I still liked San Diego when I was out there.

I know how you feel, Nina. I'm tired and worn out, and I don't even have a Friends marathon to watch because it's Sunday. You know that show is carried on three networks? Nickelodeon, TBS, and Paramount Network all run reruns at different times of the day. I also don't like not having a car because I can't really even go anywhere.

Hm, I liked Oregon for what it's worth. Part of me is like... if I were to stay here I wouldn't mind that part of the country but on the other hand it's even further away from home.

Yeah but let's be honest even with a car where can you really go? I mean short term. If I don't have to use it for work trips all I need it for is church and Target and perhaps a movie once in a blue moon.

Speaking of there are two new ones that are coming out 'Disobedience' and 'How To Talk To Girls At Parties' which I may go and see if I get a friend to come with me.

Also perhaps the Mary Shelley movie...

Oregon looks nice. But I understand you wanting to be closer to home. Florida is also nice, though.

Well, having a car would make things easier, Nina. I hate walking and taking the bus all the time. The church I grew up going to is far away, and most of the stuff I liked doing is also far away. I don't live in the same place anymore. I also miss the mall near where I grew up. And I miss being able to drive into Philly whenever I want.

Thanks for the vids, Nina. That last one sounds interesting.

I have to go to bed now, Nina. I'll see you tomorrow. Have a good night and sleep well!

I've been to Florida quite a lot over the years and I just can't with the muggy heat and honestly the whole python infestation doesn't make me sleep easier.

I won't deny that it makes things easier. I mostly take the bus to work though because the parking permits are so crazy expensive...

I mainly want to see the first one but yeah the others are on my list if I can make it.

I really want to watch Disobedience, I don't think I've heard much from how to talk to girls at parties but I know I've heard about it before.

Nina,

Are you also watching SKAM Italy and Germany? I didn't like the French one, I tried tho.

I'm kinda watching the Germany, Austin and Italy ones tho.

Well for me the French one comes with a certain amount of recognition value as far as the school goes and though it's been years that I went to school even how people talk to a degree. In the first few episodes I could identify well with Emma's apathetic attitude -- admittedly that was gone later but in the beginning very much so. I just love Manon's style. Overall, I'm disappointed that they played it too safe in my opinion and kept too closely to the Norwegian original. On the other hand I felt some things were a bit better explained (or maybe it just seemed to me that way because I didn't have to rely on subtitles): Like the episode where they have a charity auction for the refugees and Manon gets upset that suddenly that party for the basketball team takes precedence on everyone's calendars. I thought that was better executed than on the original.

I'm watching Germany and Italia, too. So far I'm really happy because they are trying to introduce some of their own plot points while also keeping some of the original. I find the Italian version the most aesthetically pleasing so far. I couldn't with Austin -- so much bad acting. Plus like I explained, I'd sooner watch a Mexican, UK or Bulgarian version. That'd interest me more.

Yeah, I really want to watch 'Disobedience'. As for 'How To Talk To Girls At Parties', I mainly liked the trailer and the music and I read one critique that made it seem like this could be a fun movie. So we'll see.

Just watched the trailer for How to talk to girls at parties and OMG it looks hilarious I feel like is a must watch now, hopefully it's good.

Have you watched the trailer for THOROUGHBREDS? this movie was made some time ago but it was supposed to come out until last year, it hasn't in my country. I want to watch cause it looks great and has very good reviews and I like both leading actresses.

Yeah SKAM Austin is reminding me of Skins USA which... isn't good. IDK what they think they're doing when hiring some of this actors I do believe two out of the 5 girls (so far) are talented tho. Guys are not great...

Yeah I've heard SKAM France does pretty much all the same but to be fair Italy and Germany are extremely similar too, I just think the Italian version is a bit more of my taste cause you know, we are kinda similar the Italians and us so I connect more with them than with the French or German ones

Skins US was such a mess... I mean, let's be frank here only Britne Oldford was a talented actress, I thought Camille Cresencia-Mills and Danny Flaherty did well enough and Rachel Thevenard looked great and improved with each episode but the rest were just so bloody hopeless. I can't believe that Sofia Black-D'Elia is still out there scoring roles. Again I thought that the problem was that European and U.S. youth culture can't really be transferred 1:1 ... so all the episodes where they didn't make any changes really tanked in my opinion. There were some cute scenes and some things I liked but those were usually things where they really diverted from the UK version.

For me it's fun to see all three versions as I went to school in all three countries at some point between ages 15 and 18. So, yeah... anyway. I mean watching it all in such close succession now shows you the nuances I guess.

No, haven't heard of THOROUGHBREDS, will have to search for the trailer asap! Thanks for the suggestion.

No problem (about the suggestion) I think that movie might be a lot of fun.

Yeah all in all I think SKINS USA was worse than SKAM and the problem was the way it was filmed too, SKAM Austin hasn't literally hurt me cringing due to the dubbing and voice recording they have to do afterwards like they did for every episode of SKINS USA.

I also loved the actors playing Cadie, Michelle and Stan. They were literally the only talented ones of the bunch, the guys who played Tony and Chris were freaking terrible

I gotta admit, the way they're changing things in Austin is convincing tho and there are two actresses that shine from the main 5, I guess I have to wait and see if it improves

Gosh blimey, US!Tony was such a freaking disaster. I have no idea who casted that guy? So beyond terrible.

Maybe I'll give the Austin version another go once I'm through with other things I have to watch/read/do but we'll see. I'm also a bit meh about the location I guess because isn't that where Faking It was set too?

Honestly, why did they pick Austin? is it because it'd be harder to have the Muslim character who's also black and a gay character? I'm not really sure but I'm thankful it wasn't California or NY cause I hate TV!s California so so much

And I think you're right about Faking It... not sure if it was Austin but I know it was Texas. How odd

I think maybe wait until season 1 is over and I can tell you if it gets better or worse, so far they've done their own stuff in season 1 kinda going different ways with the original version but keeping the storyline mostly the same. I think this remake might end up being the most different also it makes sense cause the same creator/producer from the OG Skam is in charge of the Austin one.
