I'm gonna repost our last posts here.

Where is Doggett when you need him?

I'm kind of annoyed by the season already in that sense – the focus on Juliette finding herself again. We seem to get that every single season. Last season it was her with the Baptist Church Choir she recorded that album with, before that she had her identity crisis – is it Jeff's or is it Avery's baby, before that it was her mother and the drugs and rehab for everyone with Deacon's help... – I know it's shameful and I should look the actress's name up but since they are both sisters in real life... well... the girl who plays Maddie (and Daphne too for that matter) can really sing, so I do enjoy her Taylor Swift-esque country pop songs but her storylines are just too teenage-y for me. It just shows my age I guess. I read somewhere that Avery will join Will's and Gunnar's band in the end... which is, okay... but you know on the other hand I'm still annoyed because the show writers made him quit the bad he had with Gunnar and Scarlett (was that at the beginning of last season), just because in my personal opinion it was so bloody obvious on stage that he and Scarlett had a lot more chemistry, but we can't have that when we desperately want the only thing Avery gets to do aside from producing a few songs is to save Juliette. Also made it glaringly obvious that the chemistry between Scarlett and Gunnar from the early first season was totally gone. So yeah, I think we'll get a country boyband. I'm a bit whatever about it. Like at this point Daphne and Deacon reading that FDR biography is literally the most interesting storyline.

Oh, and we need a new OT thread. Do you have any Sikozu quotes you wanna use for a title?

Well, I'm not victim blaming at all. I just think Scully's behavior in voluntarily going to see CSM as if it were a normal meeting seems bizarre. I agree with you, what was she doing in his office? If this takes place in season 7 then that really makes no sense because there's no way she'd take a meeting with that bastard. And it certainly wouldn't be so cordial. No, I could never see Scully forgiving him. And yeah, I was surprised when Reyes turned out to be working with CSM. What happened to Doggett? Well, he's on Scorpion now, so there's that. But it just seems like the show has taken a lot of jumps without explaining them, and I hope we do get some explanations. And what happened to Spender? The last time we saw him he was hideously deformed, and now he looks nearly back to normal.

OMG, from what you've told me, this season of Nashville really seems off the rails. I don't think anyone still cares about Gunnar and Scarlett at this point, and Juliette has just been going from one ridiculous extreme after another. And no, you're not showing your age, Nina. Maddie's storylines have just been that bad, and so is her character. At least this is the final season and hopefully the actresses who play Daphne and Maddie can move on to something better, because you're right, they can sing and they are talented. I just hope that the show will resolve the Teddy storyline before the show ends. And I also didn't like it when Avery quit the band he formed with Gunnar and Scarlett, but hopefully Avery will get another storyline that'll make him more than just Juliette's emotional security blanket. I'd like it if he and Gunnar teamed up again.

Well, my holidays were quiet, May. I went to see a movie on Christmas and ate at a Chinese restaurant. But New Year's Eve was freezing cold and I had to work New Year's Day. But I'm just glad that the cold is over and we're finally warming up. :thud:

Did you make any resolutions for 2018?

DGSAFDMD 01-09-2018 07:40 PM

Not really Alex, I never do.

It still isn't cold here, is insane really, it rained today and it looks like it'll rain tomorrow so is not that warm anymore but all december felt like spring weather, not hot but not cold at all

Hi, May! I should leave you a message on Skype too.

Yeah, you're lucky because you live so far south you don't get hit with the cold stuff like I do. :sun: And I heard that California got hit by heavy rains that produced mudslides. It's ironic because after all the rain they got last year that ended their drought, they were worried that this winter was gonna be dry because they hadn't gotten any rain. And now they're dealing with flooding after this latest storm this month. I've often wished I could move either to San Diego, California, or Jacksonville, Florida. :sun:

Well, I still hope that 2018 is a great year for you, May! I hope you can stop by more! :)

Nikki K 01-10-2018 01:16 PM

Cathy, May, Arinna – Hello y'all! Happy New Year (albeit belatedly) to all of you! I hope this finds you well.

Thank you for the new thread, Alex, great quote! Sorry, I wasn't around but lots of travel, lots of work and I really hate the cold and the snow. Though it's already a bit better again.

Oh so you mean that Scully behaviour or rather the way they wrote her in that scene is rather out of character? Yes, I agree with that. A lot of things do not seem to make sense. I mean granted, we never got to know Reyes as well as we did Scully and Mulder naturally but still – her working with the CSM seems out of character too in way. I mean what was between her and Scully was clearly not just being co-workers but also a friendship in season 9. And then I remember her scene in "Audrey Pauley" with Doggett where the latter tells her he wants to get a cat and she tells him that no, he shouldn't, he's a dog person and he asks her why and she lists all the things she likes about him:

Quote:

Reyes: "You're faithful, you're dependable, you're without guile, you're very comfortable to be around. So why a cat?"

Doggett: "Low maintenance. They don't expect much from you, so you can't disappoint them."

Reyes: "I don't see you ever disappointing anyone, John."
She never struck me as two-faced and now to work with the CSM she'd really have to be. Okay, look, the actor's new role on another show notwithstanding, I think they could have at least mentioned Doggett or got him for guest appearance maybe. And no clue what happened to Spender? Another retro-wank? Plastic surgery? Will they resurrect Krycek and Marita Covarrubias next? I'd like to think that everything will resolve with a proper explanation but this is just all so infurating. Though I heard they showed the first half of the season to some test group and they agreed that it gets better again. Who knows.

Yes, that's exactly what they made Avery into – Juliette's doormat and security blanket. I mean I like that he redeemed himself from the selfish arse he was in season 1 but this is taking it a bit far, he needs to have his own agency again. And generally I liked him better with Scarlett. But you know that. I also love how their voices go together. Their duet "The Moon Is High" is still one of my favourite songs from the show!

You've been so busy, Nina! It's good to have you back.

Nikki K 01-10-2018 04:19 PM

Yes, it was kind of insane, Arinna. I literally understand now what it means to feel bone tired. How are you doing?
