Hi Cathy! I'm kind of sad now that Rachel doesn't come back to "Nashville" for the final seasons. At first I wasn't too keen on her character hooking up with Deacon but as the last season developed I actually preferred that idea to what actually happened.
Arinna - Glad you had a good time! __________________

Hi, Cathy!
Hi, Nina! I figured I'd see you here again today. So Rachel isn't coming back to Nashville this season? I guessed since this is the final season they'd want Deacon to have at least some kind of happy ending. I'm also hoping that Teddy shows up for the final season so that he can reconnect with his daughters and that Maddie will stop being such a bitch to him all the time. __________________

I suspect that the woman they brought in last season who was previously on "Empire" will be Deacon's new love interest. I'm just not really into it. She's too complicated. And for some reason I could have dealt better with him being with Rachel's character because she was so different from Rayna.

Hi, Nina! Sorry for disappearing. I fell asleep and this cold and snow has really been knocking me out.

Yes, Arinna. Nashville has been renewed for one more season, but then it's over. __________________

Yes, Kaitlin Doubleday. It looks like she's Deacon's new longterm love interest. Her character has a son, she doesn't have custody of and an ex-husband who is highly abusive. So yeah I don't know. I guess they try to set up to be a knight in shining armour but the thing is that's not Deacon – despite all his character growth, I think a situation like that could easily overwhelm him. Already everything that's going wrong at Highway 65 and trying to preserve Rayna's legacy (and why the hell are the show runners not letting Teddy out of jail and let him co-parent the kids with Deacon and possible help out with the label, that'd be so much more interesting), and you can see how that is really hard on Deacon. So ultimately while he had a hard time connecting to Rachel Bilson's character due to her way of doing business and branding, I think it would have been a better pairing had the showrunners invested a bit in it. The character didn't come with all this baggage.
And yes, Arinna, I actually think that season 6 started yesterday. __________________

That X-Files premiere was terrible -- the way they basically retro-wanked EVERYTHING and devalued everything we held dear for 10 seasons. I'm honestly disgusted. No wonder Gillian wants out.

Yeah, I haven't watched the "Nashville" premiere yet but I think Juliette tries to become a better human being for the millionth time but fails. Gunnar is looking for a new girlfriend probably because he can't be without one. And I'm still hoping against hope that Avery stops being a doormat and he and Scarlett get back together. That I'd like to see, and Teddy and Deacon co-parenting and looking after the label. (If I can't have my Deacon/Alyssa romance.) __________________

Sorry, Nina. I forgot you dislike certain emoticons. But yeah, I seriously question what's in Chris Carter's mind in this case, deconstructing Mulder and Scully to the point where they barely resemble the duo we came to know and love back in the 90's. Now, that doesn't mean I'm totally buying this plot twist that William is CSM's son and not Mulder's because we've seen this red herring before, remember? So I'll withhold judgment until I see more episodes because I'm still not convinced that last season's finale didn't actually happen. But I do think that writers these days are becoming exceptionally lazy.
Oh, so Gunnar is single again and Scarlett is available? I wouldn't mind seeing her and Avery back together if Juliette continues to be exasperating. And yes, I really do hope the writers do justice by Teddy because they were just horrible to him in the past, and all because their whole "political" storyline didn't pan out as well as the musical ones did. I do think that Teddy would be great at running Highway 65, and the writers have a lot of work ahead of them in repairing Teddy's relationship with his daughters, especially Maddie, who's just a real pain. __________________

Yeah, I really do but in this case the emoticon was totally appropriate. The whole notion that the CSM violated Scully like this and urgh that William is not Mulder's son... makes me sick.
Juliette had a nervous breakdown on stage, so Avery took her on some nice holiday where she ventured down to the hotel bar and ran into some lifestyle guru/cult leader whom she is now probably falling prey to. Meanwhile Scarlett is reduced to being Maddie's chaperone as she's playing the MTV VMAs in L.A. and meets some Justin Bieber-esque pop star. Back in Nashville Gunnar is sulking so Will offers that they can try and form a band. Intimidated by Will's superior dance moves, Gunnar goes out and bleaches his hair platinum blonde, which really doesn't help things. Elsewhere Deacon and Daphne are reading a biography of FDR on New Year's Eve because that sounds like fun or something. Basically everyone was bloody useless in that episode. __________________

Sorry if I'm slow to reply, Nina. I'm on several of my boards at once and I'm also posting all over this board. And this stupid cold doesn't make it any easier.
Yeah, that just seems disgusting, that they'd have Scully violated like that. And again, what was she even doing in his office in the first place for her to be drugged? By that season Scully and Mulder were mortal enemies of the CSM, so why was she going to see him? This would've been a short time before Mulder got abducted at the end of season 7. Still doesn't make sense. Thanks for the Nashville info, Nina. Sound like typical Juliette, to be honest. Are they really doing the cult leader thing again? That's original. And it sounds like Maddie's well on her way to alienating every Nashville fan. :facpalm: Seriously, what is with that girl? And Gunnar and Will forming a band sounds good, but Gunner intimidated by Will's dancing? And dyeing his hair? Yeah. And Deacon and Daphne don't seem to be getting anything interesting to do. That's why I really wish Teddy would come back. __________________

Well, I'm uncomfortable with victim blaming now... what did she do in his office... I don't know. Surely we'll get a convoluted explanation for it. I mean that was another part when CSM said to Reyes that Scully would forgive him??! How??? Also one of those parts I'm really not fond of – Reyes having been corrupted by the CSM. Where is Doggett when you need him?
I'm kind of annoyed by the season already in that sense – the focus on Juliette finding herself again. We seem to get that every single season. Last season it was her with the Baptist Church Choir she recorded that album with, before that she had her identity crisis – is it Jeff's or is it Avery's baby, before that it was her mother and the drugs and rehab for everyone with Deacon's help... – I know it's shameful and I should look the actress's name up but since they are both sisters in real life... well... the girl who plays Maddie (and Daphne too for that matter) can really sing, so I do enjoy her Taylor Swift-esque country pop songs but her storylines are just too teenage-y for me. It just shows my age I guess. I read somewhere that Avery will join Will's and Gunnar's band in the end... which is, okay... but you know on the other hand I'm still annoyed because the show writers made him quit the bad he had with Gunnar and Scarlett (was that at the beginning of last season), just because in my personal opinion it was so bloody obvious on stage that he and Scarlett had a lot more chemistry, but we can't have that when we desperately want the only thing Avery gets to do aside from producing a few songs is to save Juliette. Also made it glaringly obvious that the chemistry between Scarlett and Gunnar from the early first season was totally gone. So yeah, I think we'll get a country boyband. I'm a bit whatever about it. Like at this point Daphne and Deacon reading that FDR biography is literally the most interesting storyline. __________________
