Juan Borgia

Juan Borgia, 2nd duke of Gandía, was the son of Pope Alexander VI the second of the Pope's four children by Vanozza Cattanei. He born in Rome in 1476. He was made 2nd Duke of Gandia, Duke of Sessa, Grand Constable of Naples, Governor of St. Peter's, and Gonfalonier and Captain General of the Church and married Maria Enriquez de Luna, the Spanish betrothed of his deceased older half-brother, Pedro Luis, in September 1493. They had two children: Juan de Borja y Enriquez (known as Juan Borgia), who became the 3rd duke of Gandía, and Francisca de Jesus Borja, who became a nun at a convent in Valladolid. Juan is also the grandfather of Saint Francis Borgia.

On Borgia Maria Enriquez was portrayed by Colombian actress Monica Lopera.

He was murdered the night of 14 June 1497 near what later became the Piazza della Giudecca in the Ghetto of Rome. It has been speculated that either his brother Cesare or Joffre Borgia had him murdered, the former because of his ambitions to lead the papal armies in his stead, the latter because it was rumoured that Juan had an affair with his wife Sancia d'Aragón. Other suspects included the Orsini to whose estates Juan attacked in order to reclaim the fiefs for the pope and eventually himself. Juan's richly attired body was recovered from the Tiber River with 30 golden ducats untouched in the purse at his belt. To the immense grief of the pope, this act occasioned the heartless epigram by Sannazzaro on the pope as "fisher of men". Borgia's only attendant was also slain, so there were no known witnesses. Later when his brother Cesare was imprisoned in Spain, his wife Maria Enriquez tried to have him put on trial for Juan's murder.

Juan also is an essential part of many novels about the family and was portrayed in many movies and television series based on the Borgia's rise and fall. For instance most recently:

The Borgias (TV, 2011) played by David Oakes
Borgia (TV, 2011) played by Stanley Weber
Los Borgia (Movie, 2006) played by Sergio Muñiz
The Borgias (TV, 1981) played by George Camiller

Right, the new movie... The movie is called "The Giaour" and is written and directed by Rika Ohara. She's of Japanese origin, living in the US. She's a filmmaker, but also a painter, photographer and dancer. Trivia: Rika was an extra in the promotional video for Madonna's 1993 single "Rain". "The Giaour" is not a mainstream movie at all! It's a period drama, but David will not be carrying a sword this time, but a sabre...

I quite like keeping you in suspense, so I'll be back with more news tomorrow… Yes, I am evil… A she- with a kind Have a great weekend, guys and dolls!

Hi, Alex!

Oh yes, Rami's acceptance speech was AWESOME! And when he kissed Lucy... OMG! That was sooooooo cute!

I call Rami "Caramel Boy" mostly because of his skin color.
And because he is sweet like caramel... and I love caramel!

As for Egypt and Greece; the only thing I loved from history lessons, at school, was learning about ancient Egypt and ancient Greece.

Sounds interesting.

A sabre? Wow, nice.

Any news about David in third season of "Victoria"? Is he finally showed up?

Have you heard the rumour about Rami? That he will play a villain in the next Bond-movie?

I never liked Bond-movies.... And barely saw any of them. But I definitely will watch the next one if Rami indeed gonna play a villain in it!

Hi, Renee! That's awesome! You're welcome! I'm glad we got David up into the top 30!

Thanks for the info about David's new movie. Sword, sabre, does it matter?
Nah, you're not that evil. We like you the way you are. You have a great weekend too!

Hi, Jemima! Yep, I saw Rami kissing Lucy before he walked onstage. And his shout out to Queen was awesome. I also liked what he said about his dad. well, I see why you call him caramel boy. And I like stuff about Egypt and Greece as well. I think Rami said he's mostly Egyptian with a little Greek, but born and raised in the USA. He did a great English accent as Freddie, though. Freddie was actually Parsis(Persian) and his real name was Farrokh Bulsara, and his family were Zoroastrians.

Yeah, it's ironic that I got sick just as you're getting over your illness, huh? I had a really bad flu last year, but this cold isn't anywhere near as bad. It's just annoying because it went from my chest to my throat and into my nose, and now it's in my sinuses and it's giving me headaches and nausea. But at least the sore throat and coughing are gone. I'm doing my best to get well, thanks. Now to reply to your last post:

Oh, I see.
I think my first movie with Johnny Depp was "What's Eating Gilbert Grape". But I'm not 100% sure.
I'm glad you're feeling better, Jemima. Being sick sucks. What's Eating Gilbert Grape? was in the 90s, so I guess you missed Johnny's stuff from the 80s. He didn't really become a star until the TV show 21 Jump Street and the movie Edward Scissorhands.

I'm very sensitive, probably overly sensitive. But in a different way.
I can be easily hurt. By bad and mean comments about my look, behaviour, opinions. 'Cause I'm very shy.
Oh, you do? Well, I wish people weren't so hypersensitive and reactionary like they are today. They take things way too seriously. Not wanting to hear different opinions is bad for free speech. Awww, don't worry, your type of sensitivity isn't bad. I was the same way growing up. I was incredibly shy and my feelings got hurt easily, but that was mostly because I didn't know how to deal with stuff and I had to learn how. Don't let anyone get you down about how you look, act, or your opinions. They're all a part of who you are, and don't live your life to appease others or what they think you should be.

No biggie.
Yeah, I think that they indeed helped him get into character.
And made him even cuter ... Yes, I'm weird.

Nice.
I wonder what Freddie would do if he found out about this when he was still alive...
He would probably fix his teeth immediately, and in my opinion he would be less cute.
You're welcome. I went back and looked for the video but I can't find it, sadly. Yeah, Freddie's vocal chords vibrated faster than normal, and his overbite was due to him having four extra teeth in the back of his mouth, apparently.

Oh, you thought the fake teeth made Rami cuter? Nah, you're not weird. But if Freddie knew about this I don't know if he'd get his teeth fixed because it would probably require getting those extra teeth pulled, I guess.

I watched this third season only because of my mom.

Fingers crossed.

Then if you like her, then you must watch Penny Dreadful. I think you would like it.

Yes, I know that. But in my dreams I can do with them whatever I want.
I promise I will, Jemima. Now that Rami has won the Oscar I'm definitely gonna see it. Aww, so your mom got you to watch season 3? Arinna is the one who got me to watch the whole show. I don't know if I'll have time to watch Penny Dreadful, because I already have so many shows that I'm watching. Yes, just like Giulia told Lucrezia, all things are permissible in our dreams.

Have you seen "Adult World" from 2013? She is SUPER cute there.

Yup, but they didn't mean to hurt me, or him, they know that I won't cry because of that, or something. They're just teasing with me, that's all.
I just simply tells them that if they won't stop calling him like that, then I will bite them.

I think that after "Bohemian Rhapsody", Rami's gonna gain more fangirls.

As for Jennifer Lopez... Yeah. I mean, she's ok, but her fans (mostly men) talk about her like she is some kind of goddess...
Yeah, I know what you mean about Emma Roberts in AHS: Coven, but her character, Madison Montgomery, gets redeemed big time in AHS: Apocalypse. She ends up becoming a hero. Believe me, you won't believe what a turnaround Madison has in Apocalypse.

Awww, well then you did the right thing, Jemima. I'm glad you're okay with them just teasing. But biting is a little extreme. Yes, I'm sure that Rami is gonna get way more popular now. Lucy is gonna have to hold on to him. And I agree with you about Jennifer Lopez. I'm just... meh.

Ah, mental health, I see. Well, I'm kind of newbie when it comes to Twitter. I only checked David's Twitter, and that's all.

And yes, Fan Forum is super nice and cool!
I'm sorry, Jemima. I was still hopeful that David would show up this season.

Well, be glad you're not that familiar with all the bad stuff on Twitter. It's great that you just follow David. Social media has become so angry and depressing lately. But that's why I love Fan Forum. We're all like nice, cool bunnies.

TFTNT Alex!

Yes, I agree, we are all like nice, cool bunnies here. Fun-loving, soft, and furry (some may be furrier than others ) and like real bunnies, we tend to have dirty minds (again, some more than others - raises hand and looks at Alex )

Bunnies? I can definitely relate to bunnies! I used to work at a big office with about 40 people, give or take. Twice, when I was handling out easter chocolates and other goodies to everybody, I did it with large playboy bunny ears on... AND tale… Happy memories!

Excellent choice of tread-name!

Get well soon, Alex!

Awww, that's cute, Renee! I love Easter. It's one of my favorite holidays because I always associated it with the beginning of Spring, Easter candy, and the end of the school year with summer vacation right around the corner.

Thanks, Renee! I'm glad you like it!

Thanks, I'm trying to get better.

"The Giaour" - David's new movie, sabre in hand. Yes, the sabre is a clue. All sabres are swords, but not all swords are sabres, I think?

"The Giaour" is a poem by Lord Byron, first publiced in 1813. It's an oriental romance, but the movie offers a new interpretation of the poem. The story takes place in Turkey, but they plan to film it in Greece. David will play the main character - Hassan. Another very important character - Laertes - will hopefully be played by another well known actor. They hope to be able to work around his scheduled work with another major movie. I do hope they will succeed, because him and David together will be something to remember.

If you want to know all about the film and see photos of David and movie sequences of him practicing his sabre-skills, you can become a patron of the movie:

Egypt, Greece and USA... What a mix, huh?

As for accent... I don't know if he had it, or not.
Somehow I can't recognize accents, for me he sounded like in all of his movies.
The only accents I can recognize is Scottish and German.

As for Zoroastrians; sorry for saying that, but this name/term sounds for me like some kind of new alien species from a distant galaxy. It just sounds so cosmic!

I remember that I watched Edward Scissorhands for the first time when I was 13/14.

I mean, whether they were wisdom teeth or did he have wisdom teeth + those extra 4? I really would like to know that.

Yeah, maybe. But he didn't want to fix them just because he thought that this would affect his singing voice. So.... xD

Arinna is the one who got me to watch the whole show.
Yup. As I mentioned before, when I first watched "The Borgias" I only watched S1 and S2.
But when I started to watch this with my mom, I thought that it would be weird to show her only two seasons, when there are three...
So I watched this whole season in two days, before I showed it to my mom. So in total I saw third season two times.

For real? Jeez, I think I really gotta watch those next seasons! I stucked on season 5.... IT'S SOOOO BORING!
So boring, that I decided to watch season 6 instead.
And now when they decided that some characters from previous seasons gonna be in next seasons, then I have to watch this S5... meow. -_-

Probably when I'll open my fridge, then Rami's gonna pop out from it.

Most of them are cool, nice comments (and these ones makes me pretty happy and smile), but there's also many mean and offensive comments.
Instead of commenting movie, people commenting fans of it, and they say things like:
"OMG, this movie is a garbage! People who likes it must be soooo dumb." It's just soooooo mean.

Hi, Renée!

Wow, nice. But I really have mixed feelings. I LOVE Rami, but I'm not so fond of Bond-movies.
Las night my Warsaw-friend sent me a link for some article about it, and I told him:
"You're late, I already know. A friend from Fan Forum told me. "

Wow, that's sounds really interesting.

Hi, Lila!

Furrier?

I think I also have a dirty mind... sometimes.

Thanks for the credit.

Yes, we all are cute, fluffy bunnies!

Playboy bunny ears.... and tail.... OMG! That sounds sooo funny and cute.

Yup. Some fans calls him "Precious cinnamon roll, too good for this world, too pure".
Maybe I should call him "Caramel roll" then?

Egypt, Greece and USA... What a mix, huh?

As for accent... I don't know if he had it, or not.
Somehow I can't recognize accents, for me he sounded like in all of his movies.
The only accents I can recognize is Scottish and German.
Hi, Jemima! Thanks for agreeing with me. Yep, that kiss was nice.

Cinnamon roll? Caramel roll? Well, I guess you can call him either. And yes, he's got a good Mediterranean mix there. Oh, you didn't know that was an English accent that Rami was doing? You do know that Freddie Mercury had an English accent, right? He was Parsi, but he grew up in England after his family moved there so he spoke like a typical English rock star.

As for Zoroastrians; sorry for saying that, but this name/term sounds for me like some kind of new alien species from a distant galaxy. It just sounds so cosmic!
Yeah, I saw that they showed Freddie's parents in the movie trailers. I know, Zoroastrianism does sound like science fiction. But it was apparently the dominant religion in the middle east during the time of the Persian Empire prior to the creation of Islam. It's kinda similar to Christianity, Judaism, and Buddhism.

Thanks!

Yeah, it totally sucks.
Thanks, Jemima. Yeah, it seems that the cold bug just gets into your lungs and then climbs up your throat and into your nose and head. It makes you miserable. I'm getting better, but I'm still dealing with sinus infection. I'm no longer coughing and my throat isn't sore, but I really want this headache and nausea to go away. The sinuses are the last place it goes.

I remember that I watched Edward Scissorhands for the first time when I was 13/14.

Totally agree!

I find shy boys cute.

Thanks for these nice words! Not only you're my Queen-pedia, but also a therapist.
Well, I didn't have net at all at the time because it didn't exist. It came out in 1990. But I still prefer to watch movies on cable TV. How did you like Edward Scissorhands?

I'm glad you agree! And I'm glad you think shy boys are cute. Aww, you think I'm like a therapist? Thanks for the compliment. I try my best to make people feel better because I always wish I had someone there for me when I was at my lowest point.

Well, they have so many videos of 10 things you didn't know about Queen or 10 things you didn't know about Freddie Mercury, that it's difficult to find it again. But yes, he did have faster vibrating vocal chords and extra flaps on them, apparently, so his teeth had nothing to do with his singing, although he obviously thought it did. I think his four extra teeth might've been molars in the back of his mouth, I don't know. It might've been like wisdom teeth. I had my wisdom teeth for a long time before I got them removed.

Nah, if you think he looked cute because of the teeth then that's not weird.

Yes, I will see it.

I see. Well, I'm sorry that you had to watch season 3 twice considering it was your least favorite. I know, it got really depressing after a while. Those first two seasons just seem a lot brighter and warmer, don't they?

Yep, Apocalypse was great, and Madison totally redeemed herself. But I know what you mean. I got bored with AHS after Freak Show and I didn't bother watching season 5, Hotel. But Hotel also ties into Apocalypse, so now I feel like I have to watch it to understand what happened to Queenie. But yes, Apocalypse brought back the Coven from season 3 and the ghosts of the Murder House from season 1. And they said that the Coven witches will be back in upcoming seasons.

Well, I'm okay with you teasing then. And yeah, I hope Rami gets a log more roles now. I doubt he's in your fridge, though.

I'm glad you'll still watch this season of Victoria, but I do hope that you get more David soon.

Yeah, that's what I mean. This is why I prefer to stick to FF where it's nice and friendly. I also don't mind YouTube, but I stay away from other places.

Bunnies are cute like my FF friends! And you're welcome. Yeah, I forgot that you already saw his Oscar speech, but I thought I'd post it anyway.

I love the title. I think Juan really believed those words to Lucrezia.
