Lent is basically that time wherein Christians prepare for Holy Week (Death and Resurrection of Christ). Lent starts from Ash Wednesday until Easter (46 days in total). Preparation for Holy Week usually entails prayer, fasting, penance and other forms of self-denial. Which is why before Lent all sorts of excess are practiced. Sort of a last chance to indulge before the "fasting" period. Hence, the carnival tradition before Lent.

Love the new artwork. Lucrezia practically glows when she's next to Cesare.

That was a lovely and concise summary on lent, Claire! And thank you, glad you liked my 2min project. But it is such a lovely picture of them, you can't go wrong with it.

(As a Protestant of course I forgo the excess before the fasting. But Catholics are always very enthusiastic about Carnival.)

Thanks Nikki. I'm Catholic but funny we don't have the carnival tradition in my area. Only the fasting. Bummer. haha.

Waaah. Thank goodness the season 2 teaser came out before Christmas. Love the pretties coming out from the teasers.

I would say we are both robbed then but personally I am glad not necessarily because I read that they diagnose the most STIs in the two weeks after, but also because I'm just not one for this kind of loud and simple humour. And large crowds make me nervous anyway. In any case - you're right... so glad that came out, hope they have other teasers coming to keep us going here until April.
