TFTNT Alex! And thanks for using my quote

Have you seen all the Flowers in the Attic movies?

BL.Arinna_1982 12-10-2019 11:34 PM

tftnt, ALex!

PhoenixRising 12-11-2019 05:16 PM

You're welcome, Arinna!

You're welcome, Lila! Well, I saw the original Flowers In The Attic movie from 1987, and the first three Lifetime TV movies, but I didn't see the fourth one, Seeds of Yesterday. I read the books and I knew how the story ended, so I wasn't interested in the last one.

BL.Arinna_1982 12-12-2019 02:07 PM

I've watched them all.

PhoenixRising 12-12-2019 05:35 PM

Then you know why I skipped the last one, Arinna. :(

BL.Arinna_1982 12-13-2019 02:57 PM

Yeah...

I'd have told you in advance if you'd asked me, but I don't think you were here yet.

Yeah, I preferred how things ended with Chris and Cathy in If There Be Thorns. I really didn't think Seeds of Yesterday was necessary. V.C. Andrews didn't write Seeds, it was pieced together from manuscripts left behind after her death by a ghost writer, who finished the rest. V.C. Andrews only wrote Flowers In The Attic, Petals On The Wind, and If There Be Thorns... before she died.

I wonder if she would've approved of that awful ending :( and I agree that Seeds of Yesterday was unnecessary. Like the Borgia Apocalypse, it destroyed everything.

BL.Arinna_1982 12-14-2019 02:39 PM

I've watched it... and only the first half.

My perverse curious nature made me watch it all  and now, I wish that I could unsee it

I have no idea, but that whole thing with Cathy dying up in the attic and Chris dying the same way their father died, getting struck by a car... well, it does seem like some "full circle" thing a writer might do.

Create something just to destroy it, how sad. It's a kind of righteous moralism which says, "I don't agree with your morals, so you need to be punished". It makes me want to slap the arrogance right out of them :punch:

PhoenixRising 12-17-2019 05:09 PM

Yeah, well that's why I prefer to stick to the first three books. If it were me, I'd have ended with that and not done Seeds at all.

Empress Ki and Togon Temur

PhoenixRising 12-21-2019 03:52 PM

Thanks for that, Barbara. :) I think Lila and Arinna might know that show.

I'm still waiting for a new ship.

Lucresiare 12-21-2019 03:54 PM

I was trying to post a pic of the couple, but it links to a website instead,

PhoenixRising 12-21-2019 03:57 PM

Yeah, I noticed. It's annoying when websites are difficult. :(

Mignonette 12-22-2019 03:41 PM

Idk much about Korean culture and the only Korean thing I’ve watched is the movie, Parasite . Their culture perplexes me

PhoenixRising 12-22-2019 03:50 PM

Oh, okay. I think it's Arinna then.

What perplexes you about the culture Lila ?
Empress Ki was Korean, but her husband was from the Yuan dynasty so it's not just about Korean culture.
Empress Ki was the first and only Korean show I have watched. I didn't even heard about her before I discovered this show.

Was Parasite good ?

Mignonette 12-22-2019 04:43 PM

Parasite was really good, but disturbingly brutal in showing how the poor are treated as subhuman in a culture sharply divided by class.

PhoenixRising 12-23-2019 04:57 PM

I've never watched anything Korean. Just Japanese and Hong Kong stuff.

BL.Arinna_1982 12-24-2019 02:42 PM

Hwarang is not actually that brutal. Is a pure historic movie.
