Math was never my strong point either. I'm more history/literature/grammar-oriented. I think it's because I never learned the proper math techniques and use more long-division, addition, and multiplication techniques. I'm not good at doing math in my head. I wish I learned how to do that better.

Yeah, but let's be honest, the kind of maths I need you don't do in your head. I never said I was good at it, I just said it became a necessity. Can't be a good scientist without maths and stats.

Well, ask yourself – do you need it for what you're doing with your life? If the answer is yes, then think further – what parts of it are useful to you? And then I'd look into improving on that. Like, I never really thought that much about splines until I really needed them. I knew they existed of course but until you need to apply something, everything's just pretty theory.

Not at the present time. But I wish I had dome something different with my life, and had better educated myself earlier.

It's never too late to get an education. I mean from where I stand it looks like you still have some years to live so... you know, you have options.

Thanks a lot. That really fills me with confidence. But I understand what you're saying. I just wish I had the money and resources. I don't have a family or a support system like I used to.

Well, these days with ebooks and all... a library card is still a good asset... you can teach yourself a lot. I'm sure you're capable.
