Winter Roses: The Lyanna Stark Appreciation, Conjecture, Discussion and Theories Thread.

What is known (Spoilers for the first book):

• Lyanna Stark was the younger sister of Brandon, and Eddard, but older than Benjen Stark.
• Lyanna was betrothed to Lord Robert Baratheon.
• Lyanna is described as intelligent, tomboyish and wilful, but also beautiful.
• Ned says that Arya reminds him of Lyanna, both in looks and personality.
• She considered it unlikely that Robert would give up his philandering ways for her.
• She met Rhaegar Targaryen at a great tourney and he became enamored of her, crowning her the Queen of Love and Beauty after he won the tournament, snubbing his own wife.
• She was taken from her home, willing or unwillingly, by Rhaegar which in turn started Robert's rebellion.
• At the end of the war she was found in The Tower of Joy by Ned and six companions guarded by three members of the Kingsguard, only Ned and Holland Reed survived the battle.
• Ned remembers Lyanna dying in "a bed of blood."
• Her last act was making Ned promise her something but what this promise is is unknown.

There are so many questions!
Did she love Robert?
Did she love Rhaegar?
Did she run away with him?
Why did she die?
What did she make Ned promise her?
Could she be the mysterious mother of Jon Snow?

Right now I can't discuss much because I haven't gone taht far in the book yet and from what I undersatnd, the TV didn't really include Ned's flashbacks of her?

yeah I guess it'd be hard to fit into the TV show since they have very limited time.

From what I understand, those scenes can hint heavily on theories regarding Jon's mother/parentage, and in the book, hiding them as just hints would work since a reader would go through a lot of pages for that miniscule scene... but if it was on the TV show, it might be too heavy handed.

XD I only know of her from the few chapters at hte start of GoT which I've read and what we know fro the show.
