  My course in University wasn't the one I was planning to study too, so I'm hoping for transfer in the second year. __________________

I don't know what it's like in the UK, I just know what it's like here. Um and here you can definitely switch, you just have to take like some courses in the desired study path and then get reaccepted that way. But most of the time here you just apply to college/university in general and then sophomore or junior year you apply to be in the actual major, even though you probably already started classes in the field.
