It was a prosthetic that attached to his arm (see pic below.) In this new season, Jaime will be fitted with a "fake" hand, so Nik will basically be wearing a stiff glove over his own hand. I imagine it won't be quite as uncomfortable for him!

I like Jaime's short hair - and don't forget that this actually follows the books!

Some people forget that in his first ASOS chapter he shaved his hair off completely that first day on the river, so by the time he got to KL a few weeks later, his hair would still have been extremely short and ragged.

Not to mention, much less trouble (and expense!) for the makeup crew and the directors. Wearing a prosthesis like those stump ones means all sorts of issues when shooting scenes, because they need to be 'posed' in particular ways. Much easier just to get Jaime a new hand earlier than in the books, whether or not it's gold.

Yeah I think wearing a glove will be way better than the prosthetic. I could not believe that that guy cut his hand off. Wow

I am big weeny when it comes to blood and guts and I totally did not see it coming so I wasn't able to cover my eyes in time

Hey don't feel bad. For those of us who had read the books and KNEW it was coming, we had to cover our eyes anyway!!
