It's weird how we know the Targgaryens just did whatever they wanted and everybody seems to accept it.. when it seems (at least to me) that it wasn't really common to marry your siblings (I mean look at Jamie and Cersei how they hid their realtionship) or have more than one wives..

Targaryens aren't from Westeros, and it's not like it wasn't taboo with brother/sister but in all families there's cases of nieces marrying uncles or cousins marrying each other. The Targaryens did it to keep their bloodline pure in a way, so the blood of the Dragon wouldn't be dilated.

And oh yeah, I believe that's why people were more accepting of him taking the Iron Throne, because he did have Blood of the Dragon.

The history? Some were told during the books by characters, I believe but there's also an entire book with a lot of history stories, and family trees, I believe.

Also, the pureblood thing existed in history way before the Nazis, they're just one of the many communities that believed in it and actually acted on it. Plus in recent history, so I imagine that's why it often gets connected. But it goes way back. Plus in Game of Thrones it's not a race or religion or anything, it's a single family who has connections to Dragons and are skeptical about that. If you wanted to compare Nazis with popculture, the closest thing would be Harry Potter who probably did get her inspiration from them.
