1x04 "Cripples, Bastards, and Broken Things" Episode discussion
Cripples, Bastards, and Broken Things (1x04 Episode Rewatch & Discussion) Ned looks to a book for clues to the death of his predecessor, and uncovers one of King Robert's bastards. Robert and his guests witness a tournament honoring Ned. Jon takes measures to protect Samwell from further abuse at Castle Black; a frustrated Viserys clashes with Daenerys in Vaes Dothrak; Sansa imagines her future as a queen, while Arya envisions a far different future. Catelyn rallies her husband's allies to make a point, while Tyrion finds himself caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. Note: Since the board wasn't around when the series started, __________________

I really liked that Dany finally starts to see Viserys for what he is in this ep and that she finally stood up to him. Go Dany!
Loved all the Sam & Jon stuff. Was so sad when Sam was telling Jon why he was at the Wall and later when Jon told Sam why he couldn't do it with the whore. And the "didn't know where to put it" Also wonder about Ser Alliser Thorne, is he really just a massive arse hole or just really really disallusioned and just couldn't give a damn anymore. He doesn't seem to be even trying to teach his recruits how to fight properly and the only one who does know what he's doing (Jon) is constantly challenging him. Really looking foward to the day when someone wipes that smug expression off Little Fingers face. He thinks hes so smart dropping all these little hints to Ned and leading him around when LF probably knows exactly what happend to Jon Arryn & who did it. And Cat...why oh why take Tyrion prisoner when you have no proof. Stupid woman. And how cool would it have been if Yoren had gotten to hang out with Bronn for a while. The two of them with Tyrion would be such a joy to watch __________________

This was one of my favorite episodes of the season
Dany finally standing up to Viserys. It was cool of Tyrion to make that saddle design for Bran. Jon/Sam friendship The Ned/Cersei scene at the end is still one of my favorites I liked when Cat captured Tyrion but it was a bad move in the grand scheme of things. __________________

Hmm, I didn't love this episode so much. I think the Sansa related scenes were my favorite ones, even though they were mostly exposition.
And I think that's why I didn't like this episode so much. There was just a lot of excuse for info dumps. __________________

I enjoyed this episode a bit more than the last two but not as much as the pilot, so I'd probably give it a low 8 or high 7 ranking...
Dany is a QUEEN for standing up to her dumb brother. Man I cant wait for him to die. That line about him not having hands was amazing. I also like Ser Jonah and that relationship. Interested to see more there. Tyrion continues to be one of the best characters, he is so great to watch and he is so intelligent and has the best lines. Him wanting to help the little boy able to ride again was so cute and I love how straight forward he is. Jon standing up with Sam was so sweet but he's landing himself in hot water and I am worried for him. Arya telling her father she wasn't going to get married and have kids was pretty awesome, I just love her. Baelysh is an interesting character! Definitely want more of him, he was intriguing. I also loved the introduction of Gendry! |

I love Tyrion in this episode, he helped out Bran, and still didn't accept the fake cordiality that Robb showed him after that.
Arya is my favorite, so I'm right there with ya __________________

I think she is my fav too. Her and Dany go back and forth with me. The women on this show are just .
Tyrion was so good in that first season. He still is, but he was very memorable then. |
