Aw so I was talking to my mom and she told me that she watched this weeks Castle and she really loved the Beckett/Alexis scene!

I'm glad that we finally got that moment, it's one we'd been waiting for for a long time and it was worked out really well. And 2+ minutes, that's longer than ever expected given their time constraints

And that's what has always set Beckett apart from Martha- the fact that she has been the mentor/mother type figure that Alexis never really had. As great as Martha is between the two Alexis was always the mature one. With Beckett though Alexis has common ground and she can actually be a young adult her age and not have to overplay it the way she does with her dad and grams.

TVLINE | You previously told me having Kate and Alexis kind of address their relationship wasn’t necessarily mandatory. Nonetheless, were you glad to touch on it in last week’s episode? STANA | You know, I didn’t think, “Oh, this has to be addressed.” But I can see why the writers thought it might be something that they needed to look into. And I could see why audiences probably felt like it needed to be looked into. I’ve always felt that Alexis is a grown woman and she has an amazing mom that we’ve met a number of times, so Kate’s relationship with her always has to be just very respectful and understanding, because Alexis is the No. 1 girl in Castle’s life. That’s his daughter, and that’s a special place, so it doesn’t matter what happens in life, children come first. Kate, being the kind of character that she is, has a strong respect for that kind of family dynamic and would never want to interfere. If she can be a friend, if she can offer maybe another perspective at times, just like any friend would, I think that that’s great — and that’s maybe the role she can hold if any in that relationship, to just be a sounding board, be a bud. Just like Lanie is for Kate, you know?

Nice quote but the only thing I didn't agree with her is how Meredith is an amazing mom. I am like in what universe? She is so not. She is more like her big sister than a mom. Alexis is the mom in that relationship not Meredith. In my view Kate is more of a mom figure than Meredith ever was.

LOL yeah that's where I disagree too. If Meredith was an amazing mom she wouldn't have abandoned her kid for her movie career. That's basically what Meredith has done.

Yup. And thanks to Castle he had to be both mom and dad. But also thanks to Castle she has not grown to hate her mother. If not for him always speaking positive about her Alexis would have nothing to do with her.
