S t a r c r o s s e d lovers desperate to get h o m e and two h e a r t s beating as one

They both came from a different world. Katniss Everdeen was from the Seam, the poorer part of town. She had lost her father in a mining accident prior before she was eligible for the Reaping. Peeta Mellark was the baker's son. He was from the Town and didn't have to depend on getting tesserae and having food on the table. However, Peeta had saved Katniss when she was younger as he gave her the kindness of giving out two loaves of bread when she was the verge of dying. From then on, Katniss was grateful for the boy who gave her the bread.

Maybe it was fate as they were both reaped in the 74th Hunger Games. Katniss had replaced her sister's place, while Peeta was simply chosen. Before they entered the game, we learnt that Peeta had loved Katniss since they were young. Katniss was surprised and didn't know how to react. Eventually they got into in the games and Katniss thought Peeta had join with the Career tributes to kill her. However, he saved her from being killed and eventually, in the games it was announced that there could be two tributes to win the game and Katniss searched frantically for Peeta. She found him at last and we learnt that Peeta had loved Katniss because she could sing to the birds like her father did.

Eventually, Katniss nursed Peeta back to health, the best that she could as she ran back to the Cornucopia to get medicine that was provided for Peeta to get well. After most of the other tributes had died, it was down to Peeta and Katniss in the final moment. They were to go home, but the Capitol changed their minds and decided it was one tribute to win. So both, Katniss and Peeta decided to eat the nightlock berries so no one would win. But it was changed back to the last moment that both of them won. It was all happy for Katniss and Peeta, until Peeta learned their love was all the games and cameras. Haymitch and Katniss had worked it within the games without informing Peeta.

Peeta felt betrayed about it until he apologised for the way he acted before the Victory tour where both, Peeta and Katniss had to go to each districts and the Capitol. During the tour, Katniss still had nightmares about the games and Peeta was the only one who could comfort her during this. Eventually, it was announced that Katniss had to go back into the games again and Peeta had volunteered in place of Haymitch. Haymitch and Katniss decided this time, they had to save Peeta from being killed in the games, but Peeta still wanted to protect Katniss because of his love for her.

Peeta dropped the bomb that Katniss and him were married and that they were expecting a baby for the camera, to play up their angle. This time when they got into the games, they teamed up with a couple of the past tributes. During the games, Peeta had stumbled into a force field and his heart had stopped. Katniss was screaming for Peeta and Finnick had knocked her back to save him. He did and Katniss was glad he was alive. Eventually, it turn out this games was different and was the start of the rebellion.

District Thirteen was alive and they had saved Katniss instead of Peeta who was captured by the Capitol. Katniss needed to save him and she eventually did, but not before the Capitol drugging up Peeta to believe Katniss was the enemy. They faced the rebellion and survived, although a lot of their family and friends had died during this. Eventually, Katniss and Peeta grew old together and had two children, a girl and a boy. The Hunger Games were no more and they lived a happy life without any more fear of the games reappearing.

I just let the word slip out. “Okay.” I can hear the smile in his voice. “Then you’ll allow it?”

What I need is the dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow that means rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on, no matter how bad our losses. That it can be good again. I stumbled upon the THG series by pure coincidence. I’m an avid books fan so I often go online hunting for new reading material. I was very hesitant to start THG because I didn’t want to get hooked on another series. For a while, I tried not to pay attention, but then it seemed like THG was following me everywhere I went, and I had been looking for something to sink my teeth into, so I caved and ended up reading the books in 5 days (sleep and work got in the way). The books are brilliant. Thrilling, exciting, and gut-wrenching, they took me on a real emotional rollercoaster. The reality and brutality of Panem and multiple deaths in the books took an emotional toll on me, but nothing affected me more than the relationship between the star-crossed lovers, Katniss and Peeta. I shipped them from the absolute beginning, when Peeta’s name was called out. The more the books advanced and we got to see glimpses of Peeta’s character, the more I fell in love with the idea of the two, because from the beginning they balanced eachother perfectly. Peeta’s interview of course sealed the deal for me, and from then on, I was hooked. The ending of the games with the berries was beyond anything I could’ve expected, and I was really sad to see Peeta hurt when Katniss admitted her confusion about her feelings. The second book, for me, was about Katniss falling in love with Peeta. Even though at the beginning of the book she had decided she did not want to be with him, her heart didn’t seem to agree, and she kept gravitating towards him despite everything. Her feelings became obvious when she went into the QQ knowing she was gonna die to save Peeta. One of my favorite scenes in the book is the beach scene, because that’s where Katniss and Peeta resigned to the fact that neither of them could survive without the other. The end of CF was devastating, just like most of MJ (thanks SC! ). Katniss broke my heart in the first half of the book when she struggled to go on without Peeta. She became a shell of her old self, almost like her mom, breaking down and avoiding everyone. Her feelings at that point had become obvious, even if she could not name them (Prim and Finnick would agree with me ). I was even more heartbroken when Peeta came back hijacked I felt bad for both Katniss and Peeta, because it was not his fault he was like this, but I also understood why Katniss couldn’t stand to be around him. But in the end, they were always gonna make it together. Despite everything, Peeta’s love for Katniss was stronger than the hijacking, and slowly he remembered his Katniss. They saved eachother over and over again. The ending of the trilogy was very bittersweet. Because while they did end up together and had – probably gorgeous - babies, they were surrounded by a cloud of death and abandonment that the war left behind, but what mattered was that they were together, just like it was always meant to be. It didn't hurt either that the THG/PK fandom is the best on earth! Thank you SC for writing the books and those characters, I think they will forever be my OTP!

I saw the movie today. I thought it was amazing. I don't know why people are saying Katniss and Peeta had no chemistry. I thought they had great chemistry. Thats just how their characters are. I could tell she cared for him in the arena and it all wasn't a game.

The only thing I'm confused by is does Peeta know some of it was acting? They changed the ending and it was very subtle with the we try to forget scene. Do you think there going to pick up in the next movie with him having figured it out but we just didn't see that?

Yeah I'm a little confused how they ended the movie compared to the book. They didn't really make it clear in the movie if Peeta knows that some of it was acting for her. I liked in the book how shocked/oblivious Katniss was about his feelings and how upset he was finding out some of it was an act on her part.

People have been saying they had no chemistry? Wow really?

I haven't seen that at all. All I've been hearing is how great their chemistry was

Absolutely so true to the books! I just can't get over how much i loved the cave scenes, though I wanted more!
