Add me-I loved them in the book. I didn't like them in the movie as much because it felt kind of disconnected. If they touched on Annie in Catching Fire,I missed it.

In Catching Fire, we got a couple of mentions like Finnick hearing her screams in the arena with the jabberjays and then Johanna telling Katniss about her after that.

Oh. I don't remember that part,but hopefully it carried over well. If I hadn't read Mockingay before the movie came out,I would have wondered who the hell Annie was.

He's also skipped minor but important things. Why didn't Madge give Katniss the pin? Her visit to District 12 would have been even more meaningful. I hope to god that they kept Delly for part 2. Not having her in Part 1 bugged me. Her introduction would be minor,but very important. They should have gone into a little more detail when Finnick was doing a propo. Katniss needed more of a WTF reaction than we got.

Well, Gary Ross (the first director) was the one who wrote out Madge and I think Francis Lawrence kind of had to roll with it (as he had to do with quite a few plot points). But I think he did a great job considering he jumped into an already established project.

I would be disappointed if Delly was left out of Part 2 too. It wasn't a huge issue in Part 1 because her part doesn't really become key until Peeta is "recovering" but as Steph said, there isn't an actress cast for Delly (at least not according to the mostly reliable imdb). If they don't have Delly in Part 2 it is hard to imagine how they will deal with Peeta's storyline. In Part 1, Francis Lawrence really focused on Katniss' story and cut many Capitol scenes (at least that's what I remember from an interview with Donald Sutherland). I completely agree with you on Finnick's propo for Part 1. It could have been so much more!

Either way, I would just be shocked if he cut out Annie and Finnick's wedding, it was such a lovely high point of the book.

What irks me is that Madge was written out for no reason. It reduced the impact of things and they didn't have anything to say about the Mayor's house. If Delly isn't included,who the hell will it be?

He's programmed to hate Katniss and he and Gale are rivals, not friends. Who's left, Prim? She's a little girl and knows Peeta even less. Haymitch is probably a target as well.
