It's probably not that significant since there's not really a lot of choice, but Tyler did give the deed to the Lockwood mansion to Matt. He trusted him to be in charge of inviting Caroline in and keeping everyone out?

Otherwise, we are stuck on direct Matt/Caroline stuff
