Bear in mind that these are spoilers for the first few episodes. I seriously doubt the writers will keep it that way.

I will be really angry if Caroline puts herself out there and doesn't get anything in return. She does NOT deserve unrequited love.

Things could very well change, but as much as I like Caroline I do not want her with Stefan.

Yeah me too - I love Caroline - but her and Stefan needs to stay best friends - now that they killed off Lexi for good he needs one best friend!

Does it mean Elena will be okay with Caroline pursuing Stefan?! Argh.

Regarding the Steroline spoilers - by no means do I think this is the end of romantic Steroline.

I'm fine with Steroline either way. If it happens, that's OK - I don't think it will last. I still think that Elena is the girl intended for Stefan. If Steroline doesn't happen, that's fine too.

What makes me think it will happen is simply the build-up. The writers would not have been slowly building this relationship for two seasons, just to have one of the characters develop feelings and the other not to do so. Caroline Dries saying that Caroline's feelings for Stefan will not be returned is as temporary as when Julie Plec said that Stelena would be happy "for a while" in season four and the same for Delena in season five.

Here's my prediction, if anyone's interested:

- Steroline will happen this season, in one form or another. Stefan will slowly turn around. He's not interested in a relationship at the moment, and for good reason. He's emotionally exhausted and as Caroline D. put it, not "ready". That will start to change with the time. No man is an island, least not Stefan. By this point Damon will have returned and Damon and Elena will be as dysfunctional as ever and Stefan will begin to look at Caroline in a new light. From his point of view, what has he got to lose? Something will happen. Maybe a kiss. Maybe they sleep together. Maybe they even try to be together for a while. Whatever it is, they will come to a point where they realise that they are better as friends.

Meanwhile, Elena and Damon will realise nothing has changed between them and that they bring out the worst in each other. They part ways. Permenantly. This takes us into Season 7. And if you ask me what I think will happen then, I think Stelena will slowly find their way back to one another.

There are two whole seasons left of this show, at least. Whatever the writers are saying now regarding any relationship, it will not stay that way, mark my words.

I hope your predictions are right. Delena is very repetitive. Nothing moves forward. There is no room to grow in that department.
I can also see Steroline trying something to realize they're better off friends.
