Considering that TO has lower ratings than TVD when they are only in S2 is not really a good omen.

It's not as bad as you might think. The Originals has sometimes only been one point below TVD in the 18-49 demo some weeks, and the last episode of TO got 1.41 million viewers whereas TVD got 1.49.
