Hi I'm looking to get some information.

I see those Friends Only banners everywhere on LiveJournal and I just wanted to know how they work? I tried to look it up on LJ but they couldn't tell me anything.

How are they used? I have a paid account so I'm free to do whatever on my LJ.

They are just graphics people make to tell people that all their posts are friends only, not public.

Not much to it, other than that.

You don't have to use them though. I just have a post that says my lj is friends only... it's kind of mean though, but so so true. There's a link to mine I think in my signature.

I'm having a bit of a problem and was wondering if anyone else was. I cannot get into livejournal, like at all. I keep getting: "The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings." Is livejournal having problems, again? I know a couple of months ago a lot of people (myself included) couldn't get onto any livejournal page if they were signed in.

I could get in this morning, prehaps they are working on it. But, I wanted to see if anyone else was having issues, because I can get on any other site, just not that one.

I just tried to get into LJ as well and it wouldn't work. I tried livejournal.com and it brought me to a MSN Search Page and then I tried to get to my personal journal (through my sig on here) and it brought me to This Page Cannot Be Displayed. Maybe they are doing maintenance or something. *shrugs*

I had the same problem, but after a few minutes it was gone and it worked again.

I tried getting on this afternoon and it is working fine. Something tells me they are having issues with it, again. I think it may have something to do with the new type of journals they have.

Yeah, I couldn't log on the other day. Like nerble said, they're probably just updating or fixing things.

Yeah, I've just signed up for that, and I'm thinking about switching back, because my layout's all messed up now. Though it is nice having 15 user pics for free!

I had the same problem, so I switched the layout and now it's pretty much okay. But, I agree that the 15 user pictures is great. The ads kind of bug me though-they push my updates and make them smaller.

I was wondering if any of you guys knew where I could request a custom layout for the community that I'm in charge of.

I have no idea how to start on CSS and don't have photoshop so I really need some help.

Please someone anyone PM me or respond on this site please!!

Well, depending on what type of community it is, you may be able to request a layout at an icon comminity for your community. Also, sometimes you can find comminities that just make layouts. Have you tried going to 'interest' and typing in 'layout' or 'custom layout'.
