How do you get flashing things to stop?

I'm not talking about avatars (that's okay). I mean when you go to a website and there is a dancing/flashing animal advertising something and the dancing movement/flashing is very annoying!!!! Especially when you are trying to read or post.

Isn't it Control-Alt-S or something like that to make it stop flashing? What can you press on the keyboard? thanks

if you're talking about ads, most like you'll need a pop-up/ad blocker program.

no, they are not pop ups. I have a pop up blocker and it works.

These are flashing images on various websites. Like right now, the smilies to my right are moving here at fan forum. How do I stop them while I am trying to thinkk what to type? Someone once told me how to do it. It's control or alt something.

Well, it can be done, because I know my high school had that done (and it really bothered me). Don't know how to do it, though. Googled it and was unsuccessful.

go to tools and then internet options in ie. then go to the advanced tab. scroll down to near the bottom under "multimedia" and uncheck show animations in webpages. see if that helps.
