I'm having a problem with ,I'm not sure if it's screen resolution or what.

I was online and scrolling down. My computer blinked off or almost off and seemed to re-set , now the screen image is too wide. I thought maybe I hit the 100% button by mistake , but I've tried making it larger and smaller and I can't get it back to my original look.

I went into the display settings and it showed I was still at 800x600 pixels . I've tried different setting there, but it is still too wide.

Before I had room on the side of each post , but now it is almost at the edge of the screen and my scrool on the right hand side of the screen is half gone and a lot thinner.

The new look is making me dizzy and I need help to get things back to normal.

Yes. I was on my way here to edit my post with the information that the screen had been waving for several days and I was thinking it might be related to the monitor.

The setting controls are what looks like an up- side down U with a line thru , a minus sign , a plus sign , and what looks like a backwards L with an arrow at the bottom .

My grandmother has a Dell laptop, and she can't remember the password to get onto her computer, so now she can't use it at all. She asked me to help her out, but I have no idea how to figure out her password or change it. Is there a way to do this?

I just put Trend Mirco Internet Security Pro on my computers. (all three). Two are fine, but on the one in my bedroom it keeps telling me I need to get the latest updates. So, when I click on the 'Fix Now' button, it says 'conntecting with the update server', then something pops up saying I am updated. However, the program still tells me I need updates.

I tried contacting the makers of the program, but it's been a couple of days, so I thought I'd try here.

I posted on here a while ago, but I'm still having this issue, and it's literally driving me crazy. A lot of times when I go to view a video, I get this error thing:

I've tried deleting and re-downloading quicktime, but it doesn't help, and I'm out of ideas on what to do to fix it. Anyone have any clue?

Nab - try the old standard, uninstall and reinstall on the computer that's having issues. aside from that i'd contact TM like you said cuz aside from that I'm at a loss.

XtremeChiq - this is only happening in IE right? trying dling firefox and see if it does the same thing. also i forgot, is it only MOV files? also are you using ie 6 or 7?

My first guess for the quicktime thing is that you are trying to play a video that you don't have the right codec for. What is the file type?

I *think* I have IE 6. I'm not really sure how to tell.
It's a bunch of types of files that don't work. Once it was an animated graphic that wouldn't work, when someone posts a youtube video in a fanforum post it doesn't work, google videos never work (like, just a random video gives me that image). If it is a codec thing, do you know what I could download to make it work?

Sounds like Quicktime took over the playing of videos and doesn't want to play them. If you install it, do the video work now?

I just deleted and reinstalled my Quicktime. And it didn't help. Could it maybe be what my quicktime is set to play:

I was looking through old troubleshooting questions on quicktime, and one of them mentioned downloading the latest verseion of DirectX, but when I clicked on the link, it talked about DirectX being for video games. Could that be the codec that I'm missing, even though it's not video games that aren't working?

Sorry I made a typo in my previous post. I actually wanted you to uninstall it to see if it would work. Right now I'm thinking that the files are associated with Quicktime to play, and that's causing the problem. If everything works without Quicktime installed, then it wouldn't be a codec problem.

Directx shouldn't affect the video playback, and if you do the windows updates once in a while you probably have the latest version anyways.

Could be, but then we don't really know the exact type of file you're trying to watch online. Try unchecking it and see what happens.
