I can't hear any streaming audio in Windows Media Player 10, embedded or in the player itself. Video plays just fine but no audio. It happens with both IE and Firefox. If I can get the streaming address and open it in VLC player, it works, so I've come to the conclusion that perhaps it's a Windows Media Player problem? I downloaded Media Player 11, which didn't help(so I went back to 10 because I didn't like 11) and also I tried downloading some codecs from Microsoft's site and that didn't work either. Doesn't affect Youtube or sites like that. Just seems to be sites with streaming WMV. I should also mention that my computer is new, about a month or so old. Please help, this is driving me crazy.

I'm having a problem with my Windows Movie Maker. I'm on Windows XP and have about 126 GB of memory left on my drive. Scans have shown nothing wrong with computer.

Ok, the problem is this:

I can make movies just fine, but I can't seem to save them as movie files on my computer. It either saves about 70% of the file or it gets stuck at around 41%. This just started tonight, so I'm not sure what it could be. I also get an error message 'sorry for the inconvence. . . ' pretty much every time I open the darn thing. I've tried all the tricks from mircosoft, etc. . . but no luck. This is really starting to bother me, especially as I have something for school saved on it.

Any help?

Is that uninstallable? It is I believe. If nothing else is working I would uninstall and reinstall.

Just silence. Video plays as normal. It only started when I got my new computer. One site it happens on is mlb.com. It also happens if I try to open a streaming vid in the player itself. But it doesn't happen with vids or songs that are on my hard drive.

that's ... really, really wierd. the only other thing i can think of is since the pc is new it still may be under warranty, try calling the tech support for the company you bought it from. that's pretty much the only other thing i can think of.

Okay, problem.
I tried to install the Adobe Flash Player (you know, the one that YouTube requires now), and I got it to download and I installed it, but it didn't work. Come to find out it says it's installing itself in Opera, which I don't have anymore. I have Firefox.
How do I change the settings so that when it installs, it goes to Firefox?

I don't think it works that way. If it installs, it just installs on your computer, regardless of your native browser.

Okay update on my problem, I was curious so I did a system restore back to the day that I got my computer. And the sound worked on those sites. Then I did another restore to a couple days after I got it, and the sound was out again. I don't know why this would cause my problem, but I'm wondering if I got a bad Windows update or something? Because that is the only thing that I installed in those couple of days except for Firefox(but it was happening in both browsers so I don't think that's it) and MSN messenger. I restored it back to the current time though until I can figure out if it's the Windows Updates or not.

I do not believe there is a thread for Vegas. My brother uses 7 and likes it, but that that means too much. Maybe there's somewhere that compares features. Well, here's a list of the features on 8. I guess take away the "new" features and that would be what 7 has.
Sony Creative Software - Vegas Movie Studio 8 - Features
