Baha it may not seem like it makes sense on paper but I think for Elena it was therapeutic to finally have a morning where she woke up and didn't give a **** She always spent too much time being consumed by guilt so she wasn't even living well, to be technically she was a vampire so she wasn't living but you know what I mean now here I go saying things that may not make sense.

Yep, she really did not get many, and even when she did it was more like a quick smile when Stefan told her a joke or when Damon was teasing her and then back to reality

Yeah and it didn't help how she was constantly living by what others thought of her instead of what made her happy and wanted.

I know, it amazes me how even when she's at her darkest she has enough compassion until the ends of the earth it's what makes her beautiful though. But it's also flawed because she tended to forget to take care of herself

I get it and this is one of the reason we love her but this is one thing I hated. It was a crime if she would have put herself first time to time.

Well, exactly. I think my biggest issue with some fans were that they couldn't stand Elena because they felt she was selfish and judgy. The "judgy" part I can see where they might have an argument because she showed conviction and had a very strong moral compass but in my opinion that doesn't make them judgy. But selfish, yeah i can't even try to get that she was the most selfless character on the show

Well said. At some point it became ridiculous because the haters just wanted to hate Elena for basically everything. They didn't (still don't) care if it made sense or not. Every time Elena was there for her friends they were able to twist it around and to say how she's selfish and a bad friend. What I hate the most from them is EVERY character did something selfish and judgmental but they always got free pass yet Elena was immediately the evil witch. But honestly the haters never wanted to understand Elena and too bad for them because she was the best character. They don't know what they have miss by not loving Elena.
