Hmm...I don't know about him realizing something is up right away...except when Elena ran to him and he asked what's wrong...so yeah he should have known but he's so used to everyone not being the best to him so he didn't even think twice about what Kat was saying...if he did then he would have no doubt realized that Elena would never say anything like that to him.

Also, how can't she tell that's not Elena? Elena wouldn't be that thrilled about the idea of Klaus/Caroline. Obviously Elena wouldn't judge but she wouldn't be that excited either.

Yeah I had sort of thought the same but maybe Caroline was so caught up in the juicy Klaus news that she just didn't pay very much attention to her reaction.
