It's my favorite scene of them

Damon's speech at the end was beautiful

I declare it as his best proposal to a woman. That is how a man should speak and treat a woman. It was very realistic of him. Too bad Katherine wanted to dramatize things, and to say she always had to compel Damon's love(which I know is a complete lie, she only compelled him once or twice). I just wished for Katherine to say yes and just married him right there.

I noticed throughout the series that she was more generous of her blood to Damon. With Damon, she didn't have to hide her true self. He was never frightened by her vampire face, and NEVER had to be compelled to forget what just happened.

I think she probably just meant his best proposition to a woman, the most heartfelt he's felt... and she just broke his heart completely.

I never shipped them but I just never brother Damon falling out of love with her in a snap of a finger after being inlove and obsessed with her for 145 years.

No one can make me believe different. He transferred what he felt for Katherine on to Elena, she was her doppleganger and she was a nicer version and she actually loved him. If Katherine loved him, he would've been with her still.

I don't like them anymore, hun. I think DE is one of the most abusive ships of the century. With her, Damon didn't look so good as he did with Katherine.

I don't think Damon fully gave up, just some.

I always wonder why Damon went from trying to help Katherine to killing her in Season 5. It seemed so out of character.

With Damon, she never really compelled him, because he accepted her for how she is. He knew she was evil and manipulative back in the 1800s... so I was so surprised with his reaction during the 2x01 episode... I guess I can sort of understand it, he just loved her for so long and to find out that person never loved you back had to be heart wrenching... I just didn't buy his love going away just because of that.

Actually they made it seem like after Katherine told him she never loved him, he just moved on and he was in love with Elena... I think he told Elena he loved her in 2x09? or somewhere close to that. He was happily a apart of the Kill Katherine plan in 2x07. I just didn't get it.

I remember that scene! Katherine finally being out that tomb.

I know and I really don't get why.

I guess cause most of the fans loved DE... but I think if DK was written correctly more people would've loved them, people did love the Ian and Nina chemistry as a whole I think.

With either pairing you'd get it. lol

Yeah that makes sense to deny after the heartbreak.
