His mother is involved in all the Radley stuff so he's already involved in the mystery even if some people don't see it that way. For now, he's the LI the most involved in the main mystery. But seeing him as a cop won't be bad

My issue with the storyline about his mom was that it took him and Spencer away from the rest of the girls.

The way they went about that storyline in season 4 was dull, but it is very much a part of the mystery, even more so now.
