I don't think either of them would have been able to back in season 1.

mmm Clark/Lois. He only feels "normal" when he's with her, he has blue eyes, he is selfless and want to protect her all the time but Lois can take care of herself and she's super snarky and funny

They have really matured as a couple and as people over the years, which is why it's possible now.

Indeed. Especially with them being such great friends off-screen as well. It really makes a difference on-screen.

Yeah, it seems forced with some other couples. I'm so glad they share that rapport. It also helps with making them as a couple more believable, I think. I personally feel they do a LOT of improv, especially with all the touchy-feely hand stuff. And not to mention how ST always laugh into their kisses. Precious.

A lot of shows don't really pay attention to the small details like that, so it is down to the actors.
